Will the Real Conservative Please Stand Up?

in Barack Obama,Conservatism,Guest Bloggers,Republican Party

I’ve seen many conservatives, on this site, and in the media, say that the Republican Party needs another Ronald Reagan. I am the first to admit I am no fan of Reagan. Though his support for the U.N. Convention Against Torture was principled and should have been approved when he presented it to the Senate in 1984. I am also no fan of conservatism in general, just as I was no fan of George W. Bush, though Bush had by far the best record for fighting the spread of AIDS in Africa, and should be applauded for it.  So, with all this longing for the next coming of Reagan I’m left asking myself, who is the real Conservative by comparison?

If I were to present to you, a President that, raised taxes, sat down and negotiated with sworn enemies of the United States without precondition, withdrew troops and ran for home when the U.S. was attacked by terrorists, increased the size of the government, and proposed amnesty for those in this country illegally, would that not be a liberal President? By today’s standards that President would be considered so far left he and Lenin should be sitting in the same arm chair.

There can be no question about it; this President that has done so many far left things must be Barack Obama. It has to be. All of these things make the modern day conservatives skin crawl. Every one of these far left, anti-American actions, have to be laid at the feet of the farthest left President we have ever had, Barack Obama. Except, Barack Obama has done none of these things, all of the above listed items are the legacy of that Great Conservative, Ronald Reagan.

When he was first elected Ronald Reagan did cut taxes, most notably cutting the top level income tax rate from 70% to 28%. However, between 1981 and 1987, congress passed tax increases of one form or another every year that Reagan signed into law. Never once between 1981 and 1987 did he veto a tax increase. Barack Obama, so far in his administration, cut taxes for 95% of Americans.

Between 1985 and 1988 Ronald Reagan held four summit meeting with the Soviet Union to discuss Nuclear Arms reductions by both sides. No preconditions were demanded of the Soviet Union. Today, we demand that Iran give up its nuclear program before negotiating with them.

In October 1983, the United States Marine barracks in Beirut, Lebanon was struck by a suicide truck bomb. 241 U.S. Service members were killed and another 60 wounded. Reagan vowed to strike the barracks that housed Hezbollah’s training center, but called off the mission before it began. In February 1984, Reagan ordered the Marines be withdrawn. No counter attack was ever made for the bombing. Barack Obama has expanded the war in Afghanistan, doubling the amount of combat troops deployed there and stepping up the number of drone attacks.

Ronald Reagan was famous for saying that Government was not the answer to the problem, Government was the problem. However, when Reagan left office the Government employed more people than it did in 1980 when he took office. Reagan also expanded the national debt from $700 million to more than $3 Trillion. The difference, Reagan did it while not paying for 2 active wars.

Finally, in 1986 Ronald Reagan signed the Immigration Reform and Control act which, among other things, granted amnesty to more than 3 million illegal aliens. Barack Obama, by contrast, has resisted the idea of amnesty, saying that there needed to be fines and penalties for anyone in this country that is allowed to stay.

Baring all that in mind, I am forced to ask, given these actions, in today’s climate, which of these two men is the more conservative. With these actions and positions would Ronald Reagan be welcome, or for that matter, allowed in the Republican Party of today?  Given all these actions, I am left wondering, if all of these are, by the standards of today, actions of a far left liberal, is it really Ronald Reagan that the GOP is looking for, because these actions seem to be all that they oppose and revile?

JFesta,

Great come-backer!

Cussing at me doesn’t nullify your threats against humanity. PLEASE inform the FBI so that they can walk between your protective neighbors, knock down your inpenetrable front door, and slam your narly forehead on your dining room table while handcuffing you before hauling you away in front of all of those liberal children you protected. I’ll even make the call for you. If you are really so stupid to try to pin someone else to the wall for something they have said when you have self-damaging words in print, BE MY GUEST! Just be sure to educate those who are taking you to jail about the Constitution to kill time. I’m sure they will be impressed – between yawns.

Hmm…let’s see. I said I hope someone’s cancer comes back. Since I can’t give someone cancer ( I’m good but not that good, nice to know you think I have the power of the almighty though) nope no threat there, just a statement of ill will. Not a crime, I’m allowed to despise anyone I wish.
I’ve said I would find and release any piece of dirt to bring down an opponent in an campaign. Long as the dirt is true, no crime there. If someone injects their children into a campaign, they’re fair game. If they don’t, its hands off, they’re off limits. If the kids are under 16, 99.99% of the time they haven’t lived long enough to have bad thoughts let alone do anything bad, so its hands off. Again, as long as what you find is factual, no crime.

No but threatening to bust someone in the chops is a threat of violence … or don’t they teach that to teachers these days… god help the children that are exposed to you.

One problem. As you’re so fond of pointing out, you don’t exist. You’re a ghost. An ID made up for a coward to hide behind. You can no more threaten a ghost then you can fight the wind or catch a shadow. HAHAHA!

Oh, and I encourage you to pick any random stranger off the street and say to his face half the things you’ve said to me, and if that person does not relocate your teeth to the back of your head, report it as a true miracle.

Well, let’s see, I told people I had posted an interview on my blog with a candidate running for office. YOU, claimed he was my brother – in – law, something clearly NOT TRUE and provable by a simple look at the article, a CLEAR lie making you a…what was that? OH YES, A LIAR!!!!

Anyone who looks at your articles will see that you have repeatedly demonized Hispanics because a radical segment of that population voices something you oppose. Since all Hispanics don’t subscribe to that line of thinking, that’s race baiting. Oh just FYI, Sedition hasn’t been a crime in this country since 1918, numb nuts. And Freedom of Speech also means that if you want you can stand on a street corner and scream at the top of your lungs how terrible this country is. That’s called the price of freedom.

Sounds like you’re the one with the impotent rage issues. So you know what, bring on the name calling, keep calling me a retard, and a terrorist, because it’s the closest you will ever get to having any power. I just keep laughing and laughing at what a pathetic nothing you are.

Thank you for your opinion, it helps LIBERALS everywhere by showing what conservatives are all about.”

Oh, Erik,

As always, go f*%k yourself.

JF,

Every time I read your vile responses I feel as if I need a shower. Seriously, this is a political forum, not a jail. You seem to be a very angry and resentful soul, with more of a mind to injure than inform and influence.
I’ve seen it before, usually from somebody who had a very abusive parent or two. I of course could be wrong, and I’m not saying you haven’t had your leash tugged on some, but really dude, find some peace, or at least stay focused, INFLUENCE – INFORM – DEBATE. Insults and spice within those points will serve you better.

Your nasty disposition shows your utter distain for anyone who disagres with you. It also shows your intellectually bankrupt of anything but hate.

As usual please continue to comment as it serves my purpose in showing your terrorist side. You don’t engage in debate… you engage in HATE… I would pitty you but frankly you deserve what you bring upon yourself as I am a firm believer is karma.

JFesta,

I wonder if the 30 children you “cared” for had liberal parents. Because if their parents were conservatives, you’ve already stated in print that you will not rest until you destroy the parents AND the children. That’s definitely someone with whom I would want to place my children in their care. Not.

As is typical, you seem to conveniently forget the things that you have written and can be ultimately verified and incriminating. Before trying to smokescreen yourself by going after Consti, you should be more concerned about what YOU have said on this very site. You can grunt all the anti JBS insults you want but that doesn’t distract from your hostile insanity and careless rantings. Go ahead. Make your John Birch Society insults. But I get the funny feeling that if any authorities were to scan this site and research the things I and you have said, my political opinions would pale in comparison to your physical threats and death wishes.

Your holier than thou rubbish would be almost laughable if you hadn’t actually convinced yourself that you are a good person instead of the vile piece of living excrement you have shown everyone you are.

And don’t worry, no emails are forthcoming.

Shows the benifit of your 5th grade education. And since I’m not the one making death threats on people like you have time and again you’d be lucky I don’t turn your kiester in. Making death threats against people or threatening violence IS ILLEGAL!! What a moron!

Again, you are right. Comparing you to the mentally challenged is not fair. To the mentally challenged. At least they have an excuse for their behavior.

Keep ‘em comming terrorist. I enjoy your constant stupidity.

Hmmmm….the man who admits hiding behind any number of false identities making the case for looking up public information like peoples address. I’d like to acquaint you with a new word, hypocrite, like it, live it, love it. If it’s perfectly ok, step out from the shadows. You do that; I’ll publish the damn thing myself.
You hide yourself because you think a protest will show up on your front lawn. Seriously? You’re a nobody pathetic computer geek, you’re not important enough to flip off in traffic let alone protest.

But, lets review. You’re apoplectic about people protesting on your lawn, which screwed up the guys landscaping and scared his kid, meanwhile right after the healthcare vote the address of a congressman’s brother was published thinking it was his. This was done by one of your tea bagging brethren. Someone cut the gas line into the family home, creating a situation that could have resulted in the death of the man’s entire family. Which is worse?

But you know what, Laura is right. I’ve manages to push you into revealing what you really are. Someone who would publically and without shame call someone a retard and be proud of it. And the laughable thing is, it wasn’t that hard. Everyone can see what you are now. You are a liar, a race baiter, and the kind of low life scumbag that used insulting references to the mentally challenged and is PROUD of it. You’re out there, on record with all of that. Have fun trying to justify and explain it away. No one will ever take you seriously again. My work here is done.

You problem is you can’t pin anything to me no matter how hard you try. And that infuriates you. I may call you retarded but who ARE YOU TO TELL ME WHAT I CAN OR CAN’T SAY? (Notice how he likes HIS freedom of speach but will throw the 1st ammendment under the bus when trying to silence others.) And racist BECAUSE I WANT THE CURENT IMMIGRATION LAWS ENFORCED? What a retarded terrorist.

Like you I don’t back down from stupid people attacking me. And since you are the weakest link who would attack me for simply sharing patriotic videos it really shows people WHO you are. Complete with the constant vulgarities and threats of violence.

As for your example of cutting the gas line how about the SEIU actually beating people that I PROVIDE VIDEO EVIDENCE OF. There are thousands of violent extremists like you out there. Live it, love it, since you are among them.

All you can do is attack people… you can’t even provide solutions to problems like I have time and time again.

What a moronic terrorist!

When they laugh at you and hang up the phone on you you will see. I deal with cyber threats as part of my job so I interface with them all the time. Try actually reading the laws first terrorist then maybe you will understand what you can and can’t do.

JF,

Thank you for your concern. I really appreciate it.

I am satisfied knowing that he is a coward who hides behind masks and that because he is a coward, he will ultimately do nothing but continue to blow hot air with his rants and insults. My lack of response will take the wind out of his sails. All sound and fury, signifying nothing (I love that Shakespeare quote…).

I don’t need to say anything about him or to “fight” as J Byron puts it because I don’t have to. Consti does far more damage to himself and other’s perception of his intelligence and judgment than I could ever do, so why bother? It is a waste of my time. After all, this is the same person who threatened to sue me for slander(!) last fall. How exactly can I “slander” an anonymous person who uses a pen name? How could I damage the reputation of someone who is not a person? Come on, how seriously could I take him and his threats after that?

With that said, I pity the person that unwisely chooses to truly mess with or harm me or my family…

Anyone with any intelligence or a free thought in their head have stopped listening to him long ago. I would suggest you do the same, unless you like to fight. I don’t and I have other things in my life that require my attention.

No worries Laura. I always look after the people I work with. Once you’ve worked as a teacher, and had the wellbeing of 30 other people’s children trusted to you, well, you learn pretty quick that you’d sooner step in front of a moving train and sacrifice yourself before you let any harm come to one of your students.

I know it would be easier to ignore him, but I caught the campaign bug a few years ago, and when you hear insanity like this, it’s hard to turn that combative political switch off. And, I’ll admit I love a good political dust up. One of my best friends is an arch conservative, but we have a blast drinking whiskey and talking politics. He also throws one heck of a party Sundays during football season.

I’m a fan of the Bard too. Should you ever find yourself in Chicago we have an exceptional theater, you’ll have to be my guest.

I just can’t sit idly and listen to this self-promoting nonsense any longer. JFesta, climb down from your homemade pedestal, dude. You recklessly throw your weight around in this place and then constantly justify yourself, as if that is possible. You have the audacity to talk from a high and mighty position when you are exponentially more guilty of everything you accuse others of. I’m hoping and praying that you DO get the FBI to look into this site for it would surely lead to your demise. Even your supposed Fort Knox-like home security system and bosom buddy-like neighbors would be able to do nothing to help you – though I get the strong feeling that if you act the same thuggish way at home as you do here that your neighbors would care less. Of course we all know that isn’t the case since it is so easy to talk tough on line when there are likely no repercussions. In regards to the 30 children under your “care”, I’d venture to guess it was 30 inmates you oversaw in KP. You are a phoney patriot and classic loser who, despite what you say to the contrary, shows how empty your skull is (except for gaseous, unfounded hubris) every time you put something into print. You must be one of those people who has to prove to everyone you see how important you are but, after walking the other direction, gets laughed at and ridiculed. Why don’t you just keep your head stuck up the posterior of your pathetic Green Party and get lost?

Well, for starters, unlike you, I fear no man. However, since I now know you’re compiling a “hit list” presumable of all the liberals on this site you demean at every opportunity, I now know where to start looking should anything even happen to me, my home or my family. Now, since my home is very well protected, and I have the best neighbors in the world since we all look out for each other, I’m not worried. However, if I were Laura I would take your comment as a direct threat against her and her family and report it to her local FBI Office. Someone clearly unfriendly making it known that they’re compiling information about where they live. Those could be some very serious federal charges. I’m thinking possibly identity theft and possibly cyber terrorism. And possibly more depending on what the investigating officers turn up. And since you provided so many other “aliases” I’m sure they would have no problem finding you.

Laura, it’s up to you, but I’d turn him in. He deserves it.

WOW! IT at a fortune 50 company, I’m impressed. You and the pimple faced kid at best buy do the same thing with the same qualification, only difference is you don’t have to wear the stupid tie. You’re a computer geek for a company that probably had 5,000 college kids with more skills ready to replace you. Yeah I’m so impressed.

Oh, by the way, keep publically calling me a retarded terrorist. I just lets people know what a low life scumbag piece of shit you are.

Dough Boy,

Let’s be realistic about what you THINK you have.

1. IF that is my name is it my first, middle, or last? You still have nothing.
2. Did you get that name yourself or from the e-mail list the site admin has? You still have nothing.
3. Did you go through a background check to blog for this site? Since that’s a NO how do you know I even gave the site admin my real name and not another throw away? He never asked for my real name, so who really is to say HE even knows it? You still have nothing.
4. Where in Massachusetts? You still have nothing.
5. Who the hell names their kids Elgin? My pocket watch is manufactured by Elgin that’s why I use it as one of my aliases on the internet. I’m also know by El Gato, Ramon Hernandez, Spongeicus, And John Lastitter among others.

What you do have is a name that matches the e-mail address consti.tution.blogger@gmail.com the site admin has as a contact for that address which really tells you nothing at all. AND it took you a year to figure that out? (Benifits of a 5th grade education no doubt.) Go look at the information for that e-mail address and you will find nothing. Which is all you got between your ears. (If you had an original thought go through that head of yours it would be the fastest trip in north America.) If you think you struck a nerve the answer is yes… the one that runs to my funny bone!

I’ve been on the internet before there was one. (They were called BBS back then I even remember when TCP/IP was the “new” thing.) And I know how to hide my virtual tracks since I work in the IT field for a Fortune 50 company. (So much for your crack at a dead-end job.) As for “the veil ripped off” You still have nothing of any value that can verifiably indentify me. As for me panicking that is truly the laugh since you have nothing of value to begin with. Which is the part you don’t understand and the part that gives me the giggles.

Now I would be impressed at your little attempt to expose me if you knew my REAL full name and address as I do yours and several others on this site.(You would be amazed at what just an IP address and a name can get you.) Again maybe someday I’ll make that public and expose your family to the embarrassment you are on the internet. So the reality is until then you don’t have spit. Call me Elgin, no name, consti, tom, dick, or your favorite jack A$$ as you do so often. HAHAHAHA!! What a retarded terrorist! (Still laughing @ you John-boy!)

For the rest of us….

Dough boys little attempt to “expose” me is laughable since all he has is what could or could not be a name. Period. But the point is how he thinks that by making anything about me public will in some way make me stop speaking my mind. Notice how he fails to even defend his precious Obama with the Katrina comparison instead he attacks people he disagrees with in the most degenerate of manners. Hmmm…. Smells like an attempt to infringe on my first amendment rights. Definitely an Alynski tactic (Pick a target, freeze it, and polarize it). And a complete and utter failure.

Consti,

FYI, I did point out both that The Greatest Man of the past Century both lowered taxes and raised revenues, which were promptly spent by the Dem Congress, to buy votes by expanding the welfare state and government workers and programs, thus expanding their power and base.
I also pointed out Reagan Never used his veto pen, yet petitioned the Congress to create a line item veto for the president, as they constantly hid pork in their bills.
While he was the ultimate leader, never even looking at public opinion polls, he had a belief that congress was the elected voice of the people, and refused to veto their actions.

L,
For God’s sake Laura lighten up! Please stop the flight talk, Fight! This is a great forum for it (assuming your responses don’t get held until their irrelevant or untimely). There are just enough (barely, but probable) readers to make your investment and effort worth while. I work my ass off (kinda) on my OutRageToday sight and I’m thrilled if I break 40 visitors in a day.
Don’t take my “name calling” to serious, it is just schoolyard passion mixed up with a bit of self amusement.

Now that’s said. Reagan’s economic record is super easy to verify. Just look up any stock market trend graph and what you will see is just what I said. THE LONGEST PEACE TIME Economic growth in US history. From 1983-2004, straight up growth. The result of tax reduction, and the long lasting benefits of winning the cold war.

You say inevitable? Look what’s happened since Obama took office! The revival of the old style soviet union. No fear of America. No challenge to Communism anywhere, rather the Carter era paper tiger that tempted tyranny throughout the globe to expand unchecked.

JF,
where the hell did you learn to be so aggressive and negative? My Lord man, re-read your latest comments! There is a difference between defensive posturing and down right throat cutting. I mean I’m fine with it, it’s kinda entertaining in a car wreck sorta way, but wow talk about overkill.

Lastly on this string, I did sound kinda paranoid on my “moderation” thing. I take it back with some degree of embarrassment.

And seeing as how it only took me 30 minutes to get your home address and a google street view of your home I’d say it’s pretty easy for anyone to show up on a door step. Additionally since the SEIU thugs you like so much do it to an innocent family I have no doubt a low life like you would sink to the same level. Rest assured no one is coming for you, because quite frankly, you aren’t worth it. 20 years from now you’ll still be the same pathetic nobody hiding behind a pen name. I wouldn’t even spit in your face because quite frankly, you ain’t worth the spit. You’ll lead your unimportant life, in your dead end job railing against every injustice you see in “your” America, and you’ll never be more than the neighborhood crank. J Byron,

The longest period of peace time prosperity? The recession ended in 1983 and the stock market crashed in 1987. We were in recession until about 1992. That’s four years of “prosperity,” by my reckoning. How does that beat the 1990s during the Clinton Administration, by the end of which we had a BALANCED BUDGET with a SURPLUS, not a deficit that had quadrupled? Even the Bush Administration, feeding off the success of the Clinton Era, can boast better than that.

Open media helped to kill USSR, not just throwing money at the problem to create a threat that did not exist–the Internet would have been the final death knoll to Soviet Russia anyway. Nor was Communism stopped by giving people in Third World countries (Afghanistn anyone?) money to fight battles for us, then dumping them the moment they were no longer useful so that they bacame the problem for us to deal with 15-20 years later. You also forget the human rights violations being committed by the Contras which were documented in the 1986 case in the World Court. How do you sneer when they ones overthrowing the “Commie bastards” are as bad, if not worse, than the Sandinistas who brought hospitals, roads and infrastructure to areas that had never had it before? Infrastructure that was the thing the Contras destroyed?

Consti,

You give yourself far too much credit. Why would I waste valuable time trying to find out who you are? That would mean I have to care and that what you have to say is valid enough or improtant enough for me to care. Neither of those things are true. It is a much better use of my time to sit back and let you show yourself for who you are–you are so much better at it than I could ever be.

Do you really think anyone with half a brain truly CARES what you think? You aren’t important enough for someone to sit outside your house. You are a nobody, which you try to hide by using an anonymous name and a lot of hot air.

You make me laugh…

J Byron,

I have a comment in the “Moderation Bin” too. It’s not just you, so you can drop the paranoia and the claims of unfair censorship.

However, based on your last post, I wish to point out that everything I pointed out in my comments were FACTS, not opinion, so how am I a “stupe”? Since when is taking FACTS and using them as a basis for an argument the mark of a “stupe”? I would think a “stupe” is a person who develops and continues a line of argument DESPITE all the facts to the contrary.

Why does pointing out FACTS merit name calling? I did not name call. I did not offer baseless opinion.

Apparently, “liberal vermin” is code name for “person who confronts me with information that directly contradicts what I wish to believe is true despite all concrete evidence to the contary.” If that’s the case, then you are right–I am “liberal vermin.” Although vermin are generally furtive and hide, choosing to scavange–which I do not, so I don’t see how that label is accurate.

This unwarranted name calling is EXACTLY why I have avoided this site. It is a reminder of why I shall be avoiding this site in the future. For someone who is so protective of the idea of Contitutional rights, which include free speech and opinion, you sure have a problem with others exercising theirs. What kind of nation would this be if the Founding Fathers, who you so idealize, had done nothing but stand around and call each other names? Would there even be a United States of America or your beloved Constitution? I think not.

Practice what you preach…Anything less is hypocritical.

Laura,

His approval is STILL higher then Obama’s so who’s really the revisionist and what is your point?

J Byron,

It’s not just you I even get that under my own articles. Try logging into you account and then commenting. At least on the articles you write it posts right away.

Dough Boy,

What a maroon!! And who’s to say that’s even my real name? Do you think I’m stupid enough to post my REAL name on a throw away e-mail address? It’s also a city in Illinois, a watch, a river, and a couple of other things. So you succeed in invading my privacy GOOD FOR YOU FOR! (Something I would expect from a person who would do anything for his political party including violence and wishing death upon others.) If you think that upsets or intimidates me then you are a laugh riot my man!!

Entry: ter·ror·ism

Main Entry: ter·ror
Pronunciation: \ˈter-ər, ˈte-rər\
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French terrour, from Latin terror, from terrēre to frighten; akin to Greek trein to be afraid, flee, tremein to tremble — more at tremble
Date: 14th century
1 : a state of intense fear
2 a : one that inspires fear : scourge b : a frightening aspect c : a cause of anxiety : worry d : an appalling person or thing; especially : brat
3 : reign of terror
4 : violent or destructive acts (as bombing) committed by groups in order to intimidate a population or government into granting their demands
synonyms see fear

Specifically item D applies to you Dough Boy. So just like the definition of Retard applies to you I say if the definition fits wear it. Anyone who uses intimidation and fear to silence their opponent BY DEFINITION is a terrorist. Deal with it fat boy. (HAHAHAHA!!! I am still laughing at you. You never cease to give me the giggles!)

If I called a person with DOWN syndrome that term then yes it’s offensive. They at least have an excuse. You however do not yet you act and speak like one. So again you are right. Comparing you to the mentally challenged is not fair. To the mentally challenged that is. At least they have an excuse for their behavior.

How about this… G.W. Bush 5 days into Katrina suspended the hatch act to allow for foreign aid to help the big sleazy… Obama took 70 days to FINALLY do the same. So how do you justify your hero’s Bush bashing? HE said he would never let it happen again. But failed. Defend that if the two of you can. (I can’t wait to hear the lame excuse!)

For the rest of us….

It won’t be long before these two whack jobs figure out who I really am in an attempt to silence my first amendment rights. Is this the country you grew up in? Isn’t it a sad state of affairs that these UNION thugs would come and protest outside my hose given the chance? Just like they did the guy who was a lawyer for bank of America. If they think this will stop me or in any way prevent me then they have another thing coming. It’s also telling how they have to complain ABOUT PAST PRESIDENTS to justify the FAILURES of this one. I thought OBAMANATION was going to cure all wounds, heal the economy, bring Muslims into the fold, and all that walking on water stuff. Apparently they worship a false messiah. What was it the bible says about idol worship???

J.
Sometimes my comments go in the moderation bin, sometimes they post right away, I have no idea why. It’s not just you. All you can do is roll with it.

I was willing to laugh off the name Dough Boy, like that was really going to hurt me. And, I was annoyed but the repeated and numerous insinuations that I was mentally challenged. I was truly offended when I was called a retard, but again, I was willing to let it go because well, that’s just his style. However, now, I’m being called a terrorist. Normally I would let that go too. But, when I’m called a retard more than once, and a terrorist more than once in the same 24 hour period, well, that just pushes all my buttons.

So, Elgin….oh I’m sorry, that’s your real name isn’t it, Elgin. Elgin, the name attached to your pen name e-mail address when we get messages from the site owner. Elgin, who by your own admission and postings lives now in Massachusetts. Welcome to the sunlight with the rest of us.

I love this blog, but my desire to post comments has been overshadowed by the irritation of “Under Moderation” delays.

Please note, for example, LB Posts this date at 7:55 pm, posted. I Post at 8:03 PM “UNPOSTED – UNDER MODERATION”, LB Posts again at 8:45 PM “Posted”, I still am not.

On a recent comment on a Consti article, others posted immediately, my comment was left “Under Moderation” for over 2 day’s.

Am I on the Whacko-List? Are my views so outrageous?

It appears to be just me, as others are posted at the time submitted.

As I said in a previous post, out of order comments hurt flow and exchange.

I wonder if this will post immediately or go to the “Moderation” heap for another day?

I still have my two readers on OutRageToday, until that goes to review too. I must be the whack job, sorry JF I had it backwards.

J Byron,

JF was not making things up about immigration and Reagan. Don’t accuse him of twisting the truth just because it is other than what you wish to believe.

These are Reagan’s own words, spoken before the Statue of Liberty as he signed a law that gave amnesty to 3 million illegal immigrants:
“The legalization provisions in this act will go far to improve the lives of a class of individuals who now must hide in the shadows, without access to many of the benefits of a free and open society. Very soon many of these men and women will be able to step into the sunlight and, ultimately, if they choose, they may become Americans.”

(Reagan, Ronald. (November 6, 1986) Statement on Signing the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. Collected Speeches, Ronald Reagan Presidential Library)http://www.reagan.utexas.edu/archives/speeches/1986/110686b.htm

He not only wanted to legalize them, he wanted them to have benefits–all the same benefits belonging to a citizen in a free and open society.

First, Thank you for “quickly” posting my comment. I did not realize till now, posters have that opportunity. You post my retorts quicker than my friends. That means alot!

Now, you stupe, how about addressing them. You liberal vermin seem to only focus on the Iran-Contra affair, and dismiss the longest peace time prosperity in US history, the peace dividend HE WON, and the fact that he was a man of principle, never running rough shot, but leading.

Yea, he broke the democratic passed laws that gave the commie bastards in the south a free hand to terrorize and take over, and of course that was a good thing. Justice and law sometimes cross different paths.

My president was a great man, who knew the insidious and cancerous flow of Communism was a threat to us all. I wouldn’t throw too many stones. Look at Obama, Reid and Pelosi. Snakes, willing to trample the will of the people for power.

Over the 8 years Reagan was in office, the unemployment rate declined from 7.5% to 5.3%, hitting highs of 9.7% !(1982) and 9.6% !(1983) and averaging 7.5% during Reagan’s administration.
(“Employment status of the civilian noninstitutional population 16 years and over, 1970 to date”. United States Bureau of Labor Statistics. ftp://ftp.bls.gov/pub/suppl/empsit.cpseea1.txt)

Yet Obama is to be pilloried because unemployment rates have DROPPED to about the same numbers during his tenure in office in less than the three years Reagan had to do it? And, if you notice, unemployment went UP from when Reagan took office before going down by the end of 8 YEARS!!!! in office.

Look, Reagan wasn’t a bad guy…he wasn’t a bad president…but a SAINT he AIN’T!!!! I’m tired of the unwarranted canonization of Ronald Reagan. He could TALK a GREAT game after decades of getting PAID to deliver the lines people wanted to hear the way they wanted to hear it. He wasn’t called The Great Communicator for nothing. And the fact that he was almost assassinated and pulled some emotional heartstrings tweaked during the JFK assassination, which brought his approval ratings up to 73% in a day, didn’t hurt either…

“Next, I’m not the one who has made one that one hundred insulting references to the mentally challenged, and publically called someone a retard.”

No you just wish death upon people and threaten them with violence which any reasonable person would deem more dispicable. But please keep dilluding yourself. You are good at it. And BTW get the count right moron..

Again, you are right. Comparing you to the mentally challenged is not fair. To the mentally challenged that is. At least they have an excuse for their behavor

For the rest of us…

People who threaten violence and wish death upon others should be shunned in my opinion. That’s not political speech it’s HATE SPEACH. Call someone all the names you like but when you cross the line and threaten violence then you are no better than the terrorists that cut off the hands of christians or beheaded Richard Pearl. And when you boil it all down (big picture) all our dough boy here is doing is using intimidation to silence people he disagrees with. Which again is an Alynski tactic and one I expect from him every time. Given he’s from Chicago which was Alynski’s home town. Also notice how he doesn’t provide any SOLUTIONS to problems only criticisms. Take a look back at his past comments and mine. You will find several times I make suggestions to improve things while all he can do is spew his hate of anything that doesn’t follow his narrow little vision of the world. Count yourselves lucky he doesn’t threaten to bust you in the chops as well.

As a matter of fact in the past I pulled some of your more outrageous comments out of the trash and reposted them so people could get to know the REAL you. There you go making stuff up about me again. If you’re going to lie make it a convincing one, otherwise you just look, well, foolish.

Next, I’m not the one who has made one that one hundred insulting references to the mentally challenged, and publically called someone a retard. That was all you. And I am noting a deafening silence in condemning that. Truly a sad commentary.

I encourage you to continue behaving like a petulant 3 year old. I just make my job of proving how useless conservative ideas are easier. And it shows what you’re really all about, put up rage from a life with no meaning that you direct ant anyone who doesn’t thing exactly the way your sad little mind does. And it’s true, the only useful thing for you as I see it is future food for worms. A day when you will stop wasting valuable oxygen betted used by a seeing eye dog or dairy cow, something that provides a useful service.

Calling someone else a coward while hiding behind a pen name. Ah…I needed a good laugh. I know I shouldn’t laugh at such a sad case, but I just can’t help it. The tea baggers personified.

As Offensive as wishing death on people like you constantly do? Really?

When was the last time you laughed at the death of a conservative?

And your hypocrite outrage at my comments is telling of the low life you proudly claim to be. I’ve coughed up scarier things than you little man. And your ignorance of history is also telling of the education system in Chicago. Mensa? You think you know me dough boy, but seriously you are as ignorant as you are impotent in your rage. I’m not even going to go into your twisted points since arguing with you is like arguing with a 4 year old. The only thing I find you good for is a laugh and hurling insults at. (My new hobby) At least I don’t threaten you with physical harm.

Again, you are right. Comparing you to the mentally challenged is not fair. To the mentally challenged. At least they have an excuse for their behavior.

Keep the Alynski rules coming please. As always they serve my purpose.

Drew,
Good looking out. I gave the article a quick proof read. And thanks for the input, you made some excellent points.

I expected the hyperbolae. After all it is sacrilege to say anything negative about Saint Ronald. FDR on the other hand, he’s fair game I mean he only guided the nation through the Great Depression and the most destructive war in human history. Nothing truly spectacular, couldn’t hold a candle to Saint Ronald.

The Conservative motto: Never let facts get in the way of strongly held perceptions.

Oh just FYI, I seem to remember someone saying proudly in their bio that they went to public school, who was it, OH YES! It was the fellow with the ridiculous pen name that uses the most offensive insults around. Insult me with something you proudly proclaim for yourself. Sounds like Mensa material to me.

Oh, and people seem to forget the stock market crash of 1987 and the subsequent recession that didn’t taper off until around 1992 to 1993. Or the Savings and Loan crisis. Or that Bush Sr. had to RAISE taxes to make up for the shortfalls and deficits created by the Reagan Administration. All were results of deregulatory and supply side, “trickle down” economic policies of the Reagan Administration. Look up the actual tax rates and interest rates for those times–they were HIGHER than they are now.

Some people are still blinded by the footlights of the “Reagan Show”…Hmmm, they are bright and shiny in the rear view mirror…

Just shows there are no true conservatives out there, only reactionaries and Republicans. Conservative has come to mean the opposite of whatever proactive steps liberals or Democrats are trying to take.

Theodore Roosevelt was a Republican which equals conservative to most nowadays…It’s all perspective and labeling…

Oh, and those who think Reagan is God, stop looking through hazy rose colored glasses at a past that did not exist in reality, reread your history books and read the memoirs of men like Colonel Oliver North, who were actually there behind the curtains and not in the audience watching an experienced actor read his lines…

Some good points! But dude, you need to proof read your stuff!

Anyway…

Gary Sick says that in October 1980 officials in Ronald Reagan’s presidential campaign made a secret deal with Iran to delay the release of the American hostages until after the election; in return for this, the United States purportedly arranged for Israel to ship weapons to Iran.

Professor Sick served on the National Security Council under Presidents Ford, Carter, and Reagan. He was the principal White House aide for Iran during the Iranian Revolution and the hostage crisis.

——————-

Barbara Honegger worked as a researcher at the Hoover Institution before joining the Ronald Reagan administration as a researcher and policy analyst in 1980.

Honegger claimed that in 1980 William Casey and other representatives of the Reagan presidential campaign made a deal at two sets of meetings in July and August at the Ritz Hotel in Madrid with Iranians to delay the release of Americans held hostage in Iran until after the November 1980 presidential elections.

———————–

Abolhassan Banisadr was the first President of Iran in early 1980 after the revolution. He was elected by the people of Iran in a competitive democratic election. Prior, he had served as Iran’s deputy economy and finance minister and acting foreign minister, and the finance minister.

Banisadr had uncovered illegal diplomatic relations between candidate of presidency in USA, Ronald Reagan and some leaders of the Islamic Republic Party ran by Mr. Beheshti, and had formally complained to Iran’s Justice department for investigation. He was an opponant of dictatorships, and Ayatollah’s Khomeini remained the Supreme Leader of Iran.

The Majlis, Iran’s Parliament, impeached Banisadr in his absence on June 21, 1981, allegedly because of his moves against the clerics in power, in particular Mohammad Beheshti. Even before Khomeini had signed the impeachment papers, the Pasdaran had seized the Presidential buildings and gardens, and imprisoned writers at a newspaper closely tied to Banisadr. Over the next few days, they executed several of his closest friends, including Hossein Navab, Rashid Sadrolhefazi, and Manouchehr Massoudi. Montazeri, one of Banisadr’s few supporters in the government, was soon stripped of power and jailed.

——————-

PBS has aired on the “Frontline” series programs about the October Surprise and CIA involvement in drug trafficking. PBS has also aired two Bill Moyers specials on Iran-Contragate that concluded that Reagan lied repeatedly and may have committed impeachable offenses, and that evidence exists to suggest that Bush’s role in the Contra resupply operation was far more direct than he has admitted.

———————-

In October and November 1986, two secret U.S. Government operations were publicly exposed, potentially implicating Reagan Administration officials in illegal activities. These operations were the provision of assistance to the military activities of the Nicaraguan contra rebels during an October 1984 to October 1986 prohibition on such aid, and the sale of U.S. arms to Iran in contravention of stated U.S. policy and in possible violation of arms-export controls. In late November 1986, Reagan Administration officials announced that some of the proceeds from the sale of U.S. arms to Iran had been diverted to the contras.

The investigations and prosecutions have shown that high-ranking Administration officials violated laws and executive orders in the Iran/contra matter.

Independent Counsel concluded that:

*the sales of arms to Iran contravened United States Government policy and may have violated the Arms Export Control Act;
*the provision and coordination of support to the contras violated the Boland Amendment ban on aid to military activities in Nicaragua;
*the policies behind both the Iran and contra operations were fully reviewed and developed at the highest levels of the Reagan Administration;
*although there was little evidence of National Security Council level knowledge of most of the actual contra-support operations, there was no evidence that any N.S.C. member dissented from the underlying policy keeping the contras alive despite Congressional limitations on contra support;
*the Iran operations were carried out with the knowledge of, among others, President Ronald Reagan, Vice President George Bush, Secretary of State George P. Shultz, Secretary of Defense Caspar W. Weinberger, Director of Central Intelligence William J. Casey, and national security advisers Robert C. McFarlane and John M. Poindexter; of these officials, only Weinberger and Shultz dissented from the policy decision, and Weinberger eventually acquiesced by ordering the Department of Defense to provide the necessary arms;
*large volumes of highly relevant, contemporaneously created documents were systematically and willfully withheld from investigators by several Reagan Administration officials; and
*following the revelation of these operations in October and November 1986, Reagan Administration officials deliberately deceived the Congress and the public about the level and extent of official knowledge of and support for these operations.

In addition, Independent Counsel concluded that the off-the-books nature of the Iran and contra operations gave line-level personnel the opportunity to commit money crimes.

———————————-

This doesn’t even address Reagan’s obviously terrible supply-side trickle down economic policies.

Ronald Reagan’s positive legacy is a complete mythological fabrication.

P.S. I went to public school in several states throughout the U.S. and I’m damn proud of it.

JF,

Are you daft? You take snippets of truth and warp them to turn a great president into an leftist clown like Obama.

Because you are JFesta, I’ll not address each point, but here are some easy to understand bits even you could digest if so inclined to chew.

Reagan stood on principle, he never vetoed ANY bill, as he considered the Congress to be the popular voice of the people.

The Iceland summit? He risked a great escalation or war refusing to take Star Wars off the table. His goal, to reduce nuclear arms and share technology even with them. NO NEGOTIATION

When the anticipated response was the USSR build up to counter the star wars research project, he spent them into oblivion, at which time towards the end of his 1st term, they realized they would bankrupt themselves to stay competitive, and turned to a free market style economy to survive economically since Reagan defeated them militarily.

Reagan reduced ALL taxes, and the Dem congress got a windfall of increased revenue they gleefully spent to empower their base, and towards the end of the 2nd term, started spending the “Peace Dividend”, while heaping praise on Gorbi to minimize Reagan’s victory over the USSR.

Finally, regarding the marine terrorists, did you forget Gaffi Kadaffi in Libya, the likely planner and definite finacier of that plot, as well as others, like the germany bar explosion.
Reagan bombed the hell out of every one of his palaces, killing most of his children. NOT ONE WORD was heard from him since, UNTIL OBAMA, now he’s all brave again.

You disrespecting Reagan is like a ant criticizing those who brought the picnic lunch to the park.

Selective history. Just off the top of my head… The net tax cuts were still drastic. Reagan, like George W. Bush’s war on terror, felt that deficit spending to pay for defeating the Soviet Threat was the right choice. And the U.S. rattled cages all the way from Poland to Afghanistan using creative methods that were ultimately successful in freeing millions. Reagan negotiated with Gorbechev, but he wouldn’t have anything to do with his predecessors, and the outcome of those talks were prewired before they ever sat down. Reagan woudn’t have given that little weasel in Iran the time of day. (Sorry to lazy to figure out how to spell his name).
