Why are they afraid of Sarah Palin?

Consti here perusing through my back issues of Sports Illustrated swim suit editions in the bunker bathroom. (It s a guy thing.) Now knowing the Buddhist teachings that “reality is perception” I have to ask myself why the liberals are so rabid about Sarah Palin. Why does the mere mention of her name elicit signs of BDS syndrome in them? The bunker medical staff is working on that now, updates to follow.

Then nirvana struck me in the head and instead of a flux capacitor it came to me. She’s attractive, plain and simple. She’s not some stodgy, old, wrinkled, white, southern, and rich, power wielding, good ol’ boy. She’s not a stereotypical image of a Republican. You see without the miss-perception that she is from “the old Republic” or ‘the old boys club’ it’s harder to classify her as a mad, power hungry, oil drinking, intern screwing, baby killer. Bemoaning her intelligence is a dangerous game, and appearing to attack a woman can be political suicide. Just ask Hillary. Palin is a variable.

Now at this point let me go on record for those of you who will try to manipulate this into some sort of support for the woman. Regan became President from the Governorship of California so it s possible. But Sarah Palin doesn’t have the experience needed for the office of the President. Then again, neither does Obama.

What I am saying here is “reality is perception”. Since characterization of her as the stereotypical Republican candidate is dodgy that means the liberals have to come up with a new strategy for her. They have no history or portfolio on her like they do the rest of the Republicans. And without a playbook that makes them nervous. That’s why the AP has 11 fact checkers on her book, but never bothered to fact check Obama’s. Ask yourself this; why was her selection as VP such a shock to team Obama in the first place?

Even more to my amazement is the SILENCE coming from the woman’s movement about Sarah Palin. I suppose I shouldn’t really be surprised since N.O.W has a very delicate balancing act here. A successful former female governor can’t be austricized by N.O.W, and since she’s not for their political ambitions they can’t support her either. That s why they were silent during the election about that whole lipstick on a pig distraction. They don t want their collective hypocritical slips showing.  Hell you say that to any woman and you are likely to get a smack from every female in the room. Yet the silence was a deafening ROAR.

What you are seeing my friends is the advanced application of Alynsky’s rules. “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” They must be really worried if they are doing it 3 years in advance. They must fear it if they are already running statistical calculations of a 2012 race against Obama. 3 years is a long time and much can happen in that span no? They are putting the perception out there now hoping the reality takes hold.

I deny their perception and substitute it with a reality of my own.

P.S. There is no spoon.

The 2012 Presidential Election is fast approaching

The White House

The GOP race is now a field of 4 with only Romney, Gingrich, Paul, & Santorum still standing. Who will be the next candidate to exit the race & who will emerge as the eminent GOP nominee?

CJ,

“Maybe we should demand better options in future.”

I couldn’t agree with you more!

The left is afraid of her because she’s a massive idiot, who the right might actually talk themselves into electing. All she needs do is buy a truck and she’s a shoo-in. Might as well claim “the left hate George Bush because he’s short”, or “the right hate Obama because he’s black”.

I agree Obama is not qualified enough to be president, but Palin is equally not “a successful former governor”, she’s a governor who quit half-way through her first term, mired in legal difficulties largely of her own making, to go sell a book. This is what you get when you elect “personalities”.

Maybe we should demand better options in future.

The US has an aversion to electing qualified people to high office – never been quite sure why this should be, other than a built in anti-intellectual streak. Personally, it’s not her politics that worry me, it’s her biblical literalism – it’s never a good idea to give an end-timer a nuclear trigger.

Sarah Palin does not represent any women I know or have known. This politico lives in a glass house and is constantly throwing stones. Can dish it out but can’t take it. That Hopey Changey thing is fine, You Betcha!

Whether Palin is qualified or even has a prayer of becoming President, I surely get a kick out of the utter fear she is causing. And, as Costi stated, it’s 3 whole years before the next Presidential election. I can’t imagine what will happen when she breaks out of her shell and really starts making an impact. It will probably resemble roaches scattering when the lights come on except, in this case, the roaches will likely have machine guns.

Laura,

I know you are addressing SilverWun and I will let him speak for himself, but I can not let you make so obvious a contradiction of yourself without comment.

One – Van Jones (marxist), Timothy Geithener (can even work Turbo Tax! That alone marks his intelligence), Anita Dunn (Maouist), the list goes on and on. And most positions aren’t even filled. Additionally, Obama said to look at who he consults as an example of his administration. Ironically, the head of the SEIU has the most visits to the white house of anybody. So GWB and Regan are in good company with the One. So much for change.

Two – No one MADE her quit the Governorship. And if Letterman had gone after YOUR son wouldn’t you be annoyed as well? No one is more protective of their children than mothers and you should know that. And the WAY in which Letterman when after her is REPUGNANT. Personally, if it were my daughter, where I m from a comment like that leads to a fat lip or a black eye. All you have to do is look at the research that has been done and you can clearly find that the press had more unfavorable coverage of her than they did favorable. That’s a verifiable FACT.

As for here family being trotted out and her being proud of them I am shocked at your final statement. The Obama girls are off limits even though the One uses them in examples all the time even recently!

And WHERE I ask in NOW? Where are all the women of this country that have fought for decades to destroy the sexism that is being used on Palin? What does this have to say about the woman’s movement? How far does it set that cause back? I’ll tell you, if it’s not Hilldog it’s woman.

As you say Laura you can’t have it both ways.

S.,

I see what you are saying. I would say two things in response to that viewpoint about the executive nature.
One- an executive has to either have truly hired the right people for the job and created acountability and oversight for those same people, or he/she has to know enough about what’s going on to be able to be aware of any predictable errors in judgment on the part of those people. W and Reagan (Iran-Contra) are perfect examples of that.
Two- that type of executive has to be a big picture and far sighted thinker. I don’t think Sarah Palin is either one, or at least she has given no indication of being one. also, I don’t think she has the fortitude to be truly “uncompromised” or she wouldn’t allow others to force her to leave an position that she swore to her god that she would fulfill to the best of her abilities. She would not be constantly whining about how mean, petty, unfair, etc the “liberal” press is. She would hold her head up and say “So?”, which she does not do. For her to make a big stink over Letterman of all things…Heaven forbid if John Stewart or Steven Colbert decided to really go after her.

If she wants her family to remain a “no fly zone”, then maybe she should not have made such a point of making them part of her campaign (political and publicity) by talking about them all the time and trotting them out like a bunch of accessories. Maybe she should keep a lower profile and she should certainly not run for president. Can’t have it both ways…

Those who preside listen to the different points of view and consider, with advisors, courses of action, making a decision and ordering the action. A presiding executive has the most important information before him or her provided by all sides, like a judge. It doesn’t take an Einstein anyway. It takes integrity, courage and broad understanding about many things one gains with an education and with personal experience that one gains as a result of traffic with other people.

Anything else is a smoke-screen.

The first rule of politics (unwritten) is compromise. This isn’t compromise in dealings with the opposition. The meaning is entirely different. It means get them compromised. Get the goods early and use them as the ultimate ‘handle.’ If the compromising is devastating, as in extremely larcenous or immoral acts, all the better. This is why the ‘uncompromised’ are frightening to party bosses.

Palin isn’t a Washington animal. If they had anything on her it would have been out long ago. The best they can do is try to rub dirt off on her gleaned from relatives. It AIN’T workin’.

I agree with you that they don’t necessarily need to be experienced at being president, but they should be more experienced than they are, both Palin and Obama. Look at the mess Obama has made on the world stage. Capitulation to Russia and the total throwing under the bus of europe.

Qualifier for sentence #2:

What I meant is that they, obviously, need to be qualified. But not necessarily experienced, as has been proven over and over. There are a lot of “fall guys” who are prepared to help them succeed. Obama doesn’t even have the executive experience that Palin has but has been coached by his team on every executive situation he has had to make.

A lot of good stuff here, particularly the part about the hypocrisy of N.O.W. (National Organization of Wusses). I am a firm believer that a person doesn’t need to be qualified to be President, unfortunately, though I truly wish I were. They have such a myriad of people who prop them up and give them all the info they need to succeed. Just look at Obama and how many times he has stammered while answering an unexpected question. They always ridiculed Bush for sounding like an idiot but Obama without his teleprompter or list of FAQs sounds just as bad.

What has always bothered about the Sarah Palin situation is the Left’s brutal double standard. Many of the same people who called her a hypocrite and not a good role-model for women are the same ones who exalted Michelle Obama as being a perfect role-model with her mix of a professional person and mom. The whole thing is despicable.

You are right, people are scared to death of her because she is strong yet doesn’t fit their sterotypical model. I just wish the criticisms they gave her were more justified. For example, there is obviously nothing stupid about her, yet all we here is how much intelligence she lacks. It comes down to one thing and one thing only: she is a conservative. Bet your bottom dollar (like you said) that if she were a liberal or even a moderate democrat, she wouldn’t be enduring half of the shots she has been taking.
