Whatever became of NCLB??

Obama has been in office for about a year now and I wonder what happened to the rewriting of No Child Left Behind Act.  My opinion is if they get rid of all the testing, they could save a lot of money and use that for other things.  All we hear about is all the budget cuts and loss of educational programs.  I wondered why rural schools receive more funding than the urban schools through NCLB.  Title I funding went by how many children receive free and reduced  priced lunches. This allowed for such things as materials, books and remedial programs.

This testing overkill is stressful on the students, teachers, staff and administration.  It takes away from essential classroom instruction and forces educators to drill students for these assessments.  Test scores can make or break a school.  Standardized testing is unfair to special-needs students and English Language Learners. They should be exempt from it and allowed  to utilize other forms of assessments.

This NCLB bill was a giveme to Senator Kennedy by your beloved Bush administration. It should have been call MCLB (M=Most).
One of it’s “conservative” concessions was the ability of a parent to apply for a Charter School admission if the school dismally failed AFTER 4 years! It gave the Public Schools with teachers unions a death grip on our kids. I’m sure Obama’s children are doing well in the Public educ….., well they may have if they went.
Yes, more funding, that’s the lib answer. In Detroit, one of the highest per student dollars ratios in the country (over 11K per student), only 25% graduate, and a student is more likely to go to prison that achieve that lofty goal. DC, same story. Both systems completely run by dem’s from top to bottom.
On the other hand, charter schools who receive less funding have near 100% graduation in the SAME areas.
Middle America has the lowest per student funding, the highest grad levels and scores.
One step even further, Home Scholars are rocking the charts, with little or no funding.

Less money, more discipline and accountability, less Obama Rainbow Bands, less Liberal Gov involvement, less union snoops = better educated, socially responsible kids, just ask Obama.
