“AAAYEEEEAAAAAAAGH”- Immigrant Song- Led Zeppelin

As the Arizona law continues to share front page headlines with the enviro-catastrophe in the Gulf and Israeli-Arab conflicts, I wanted to throw in my dos pesos.
My father was an immigrant who arrived in the years following WW2. My father spoke 6 languages fluently when he came here as a teenager– English was not one of them. He finished high school essentially completing 11th and 12th grade while learning the language they were taught in. He went to Carnegie Tech and received a degree in electrical engineering. His story is neither unique nor a history lesson- as great immigrants arrive in this country on a daily basis. However, the people stealing across our border illegally are not the people I am talking about. If you find yourself in an emergency room anywhere in this country, you will be surrounded by immigrants. Latino’s will fill the chairs in the waiting area while West Indian nurses and Indian doctors take care of the patients. Now, not all Indian or Pakistani immigrants are doctors. Some are engineers. The New York Subway system is run by majority Indian engineers. Other Indian immigrants may be lab technicians or computer programmers. However, not all Indian immigrants are professionals. Some work at the 7-11. They are the guys inside who make minimum wage and pay taxes (at least state and local). Outside the 7-11 you’ll find the illegals waiting to work tax free or just drinking and loitering.
If you can’t see the difference between good immigrants and bad immigrants, then you are a bigot. If the people who come to our country lawfully, to work lawfully, and live lawfully– and that includes not condoning or assisting unlawful behavior– seem the same to you as people who come here unlawfully, live off of government money and black market income– be it labor or drugs or theft– then you need to examine your morality. Millions of Americans’ lives are improved by lawful immigrants. Many more American’s are adversely affected by illegal immigration. Some directly by crime, some by taxation, all by diminished availability to services. Our prisons are filled with illegal immigrants– arrested for serious crimes. Our cities are besieged by gangs– another import from south of the border. Our hospitals are forced to give free services to those here illegally, raising the cost for those of us who pay. Blue collar workers have seen their wages freeze or decrease because they have to compete with illegals who can work for less- due to lower living expenses thanks to communal living and not bothering with vehicle insurance or health insurance or car registration fees, etc…
We are no longer a manufacturing nation that requires low skilled, uneducated immigrants to man our factories. The immigrants from the south are about 50 years too late to help our country and instead bring it down by being a burden rather than a boon. They need to be removed, deported, and stopped from re-entering. Arizona is absolutely right to take the lawful, politically incorrect, steps necessary to protect its citizens and those of us who reside legally elsewhere in the country. The supporters of illegal immigration are racists who believe that the rights of Latinos outweigh all other races.

The GOP race is now a field of 4 with only Romney, Gingrich, Paul, & Santorum still standing. Who will be the next candidate to exit the race & who will emerge as the eminent GOP nominee?
