The “tell”

Shhh!! Consti here seated around a smoky poker table in the Bunker Lounge. 5 card stud, nothing wild, all in. I’d like for you to take a minute to consider the concept of “The Poker Face.” Now any poker player will tell you that you are not playing the game you are playing the player. And they will also say that every player has a “tell.” A tell is that little gesture, shift in posture, etc, that lets you know what their play will be. If you ever see professional poker you will notice that a lot of players wear sunglasses. This is to hide their “tell.”

“Now Consti what in the world does poker have to do with politics?” Very good question so let me explain.

It’s getting easier to see the “tell” coming out of this administration and congress. The attempts to play class and racial warfare with politics is the “tell.” Their shrill attempt to single out anyone who disagrees with their policies as, radical, right-wing nuts, terrorists, evil, war mongers, etc, ad museum. Yet when you take a look at the 32 African American Republicans running for office for the first time you see a different picture. Or Harry Reid getting a pass from Obama for making racial comments about him. And really that’s what the poker face is about. Making your opponent think you are going to do one thing yet do another.

Let’s take a look at… oh… let’s say Halliburton. Now we all know that Darth Cheney and his gang of Sith lords were in with this company. This evil, cause of all sinister CIA black ops, corporation was ostracized by the left during the Bush administration. Democrats in congress dragged this company through hearing after hearing. Yet today President Obama and his minions in the Pentagon have awarded this Death Star of a company a $568 Million no bid contract. Despite congress filling suit against the company for alleged kick backs from sub-contractors. Ironically this is the same Pentagon that has begged congress to stop spending so much on Soldiers’ salaries. Currently they are higher than the equal position in the private sector. (Personally I’m good with this. They deserve it more than the Unions.) Military personnel over there have to buy their own bullet proof vests at an average cost of $1000 per soldier. For all the liberal progressive hate that was directed at Halliburton it leads me to ask this question: Who’s in charge of the check book there at the Pentagon? Elmer  Federal Fudd?

 But it’s ok if “the one” is throwing more money at the fire.

Let’s take a look at the Arizona immigration law. Much like the Cambridge police comments the President made that heralded in the famous “beer summit.” Obama’s knee jerk reaction to SB1070 was to play the race card. Despite not knowing EXACTLY what was in the law he made assumptions based on his Saul Alinsky training. Much like Cambridge he put his foot in his mouth with his absurd story about being deported if you take your kids for ice crème. Anyone with a fifth grade education who actually READ the legislation could have told you that was a load of malarkey. This in effect has cause state to turn against state with all the calls for boycotts. It’s turned American kids wearing American flag t-shits into suspects of violence. While Mexican kids skip class to protest their right to “respect.” Foolish teens no one has a “right” to respect. It’s something you earn estúpido. May 5^th isn’t even an official holiday in Mexico retrasa and wasn’t really celebrated until the 60’s! It became famous because of Corona Beer! In a recent national poll 60% of the American public says they support the legislation in AZ. Don’t be fooled by the lies and deception that a desperate administration and congress are telling you.

I can go on with more examples of their “tell” but I trust in you the reader to know them. To research them for yourself and to make up your own mind is your responsibility.

“Ok Consti. Assuming for one preposterous moment this is their “tell” what is their play?” Good question I’m glad you asked. As the mid-term elections near expect to see the rhetoric turned up with more finger pointing to come. More infiltrations of protests by fake activists bent on making your movement look racist. Any criticism of the administration will be dealt with swiftly and firmly. With the departure, retirement, or risk of loss more than 5 democrats have thrown in the towel. Add to that the slow realization that over 100 seats are now in play including Hawaii which has long been a blue state. You will see desperation and fear. Fear of losing their power. Fear of losing control congress. Many of the DNCC, and Democratic affiliates fund raising e-mails I get every day already have the smell of fear. Expect to see everything labeled a “crisis.” Because as Rahm Emanuel likes to say: “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste,”
