The Loyal Press “Stands Down”

by silverwun on October 27, 2012

Two former Navy Seals sacrificed their lives in a show of deeper loyalty to their Nation and sworn duty than to corrupt politicians and superiors commanding them to “stand down.”

Parents of those young men have made remarks and related experiences of treatment by the President, Vice President and Secretary of State and are being ignored by the dominant press.

The Fourth Estate Has Left the Building

Extremely moving remarks and interviews are being ignored by major media in favor of running interference for the Obama Administration. CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS and major print media loyalty to the Obama Administration supersedes their traditional duty as the Fourth Estate; loyal to the truth as watch watchdogs for ‘The People’ and loyalty to this Nation. Furthermore, these corrupt minions of the Left assist in heaping abuse and character assassination on anyone, including colleagues, who dares to embarrass them with revelations of the truth; especially when corroborating evidence and testimony support reports.

Watergate Was a Benign Scandal

Watergate was a walk in the park compared to the incompetence and blatant cover-up that is taking place in the current administration. Nobody died at the Watergate break-in. It involved only a handful of minions of a presidential candidate. The press reported all of it and it brought down a Presidency. We now have news media doing the opposite to save a presidency.

The embarrassing tragedy of Benghazi happened because of accidental or intended failure and subsequent conspiracy to cover it up by the incumbent Executive Branch, our erstwhile loyal Press and the CIA!

Timing of Benghazi couldn’t have been worse for the Administration. I suspect that in turn, the President will resort to timing in a desperate attempt to mitigate daily accruing damage from this scandal. He’s refusing to answer all questions right now. When it becomes clear that ignoring the issue will seriously jeopardize the election, expect Democrats to acquiesce and schedule an eleventh hour Presidential address to the Nation just before voters go to the polls. In this way, carefully crafted lies can be delivered in a grand, eloquent manner from a teleprompter when it is too late for fact checking to change the vote.

Power Lust Knows No Bounds

Addiction to power is non-partisan. This was understood by those who wrote the Constitution. Impending International treaties, Congressional Legislation such as NDAA and Presidential fiats are severely compromising Bill of Rights protections. The Press stands down for the administration in reporting and questioning these threats as well.

Families of the slain Diplomats and Navy Seals now know that courageous loved ones who did their sworn duty were abandoned because superiors violated their own oaths; that the State Department, Pentagon and CIA were fully aware in real time of what took place; that three desperate requests for help were denied while Washington watched images from drones in real time, ordering two Navy Seals to violate sworn duty and “stand down.”

When the bodies of Tyrone Woods, Glen Doherty and the ambassador and diplomat they died trying to rescue arrived home, Mr. Charles Woods, Tyrone’s father was assured by our Secretary of State that a producer of a rag tag video in Los Angeles would be “arrested and prosecuted.”

The Big Benghazi Lie unravels by the day in spite of a fawning, slavish press.

At least we can take comfort from knowing two things.

That on Election Day this corrupt administration might be renewed for another four years and that a dangerous threat to National Security, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula is safely behind bars.

Joe,
The thread was dead. Let’s cover a basic premise – all Democrats do not align themselves with every Democratic plank. Neither does every Republican. Both sides have their loonies.
Your stance is a classic diversion. The Benghazi compound was not poorly secured because of funding. Why bring that issue up? You do so to deflect from the obvious misjudgment, the obvious culpability, the obvious stonewalling, the obvious decision-making that was predicated on political expediency.
The ‘investigation’ that is going on has already taken too long. The administration will protect all the agencies to the best of their ability. The conclusion will be the equivalent of an “Oops, my bad!” where no one is really held responsible or accountable, and then the left will be outraged over why the right is still outraged. The liberal media will declare it a dead issue, and only some Republican congressmen and Fox news will press on, since “oops, my bad,” isn’t a good enough explanation when four people are murdered.
We hear about Bush’s “lie” about WMD’s in Iraq, but we conveniently forget that the suspicion of WMD’s was not based solely on US intelligence, but on the intelligence of Britain, France, and Germany. I don’t remember if Israel suspected the same or not. As it turned out, the WMD’s did not exist, and Bush was held accountable by every media outlet, including Fox news.
I have reached the end of my rope. When Romney wins tomorrow, please remember that Obama had four years and plenty of opportunities to make a case for a second term. Had he done a good job, this election would already be in the bag. The fact that it is not is a testament to how poorly he has done.
And if the American public is stupid enough to re-elect him, his credibility will be shot by the time the Benghazi scandal is put to bed. I hope for the good of the country that we lean forward with a better chance than one that has failed for four years.

Well, since the thread is dead he is my final response for you.

Your point is well taken, cutting funding for security would have no effect on our ability to defend our embassies as all security personnel work for free. As for your conclusion, it was reached before the attacks had ended, that is obvious. No amount of investigation or evidence will shake your convictions. A true investigation would show that GOP funding cuts hampered the State Department which was trying to ration limited security funding. If anything, both parties are at fault and Fox News will never admit to that, as you never will.

Also, any appeal to Fox News, and solely upon Fox News, demonstrates a lack of objectivity. There really is no further point to reviewing these posts.

Thankfully for us all Romney will not win. I know he now speaks of bipartisanship (for the record Romney issued 800 vetos that were overridden by the state legislature) but do you actually believe the Democrats will work with him after the example set by McConnell, Cantor, Boehner, Ryan, etc.? Obstruction, voter suppression and self agrandizement are not a policy agenda that will serve ANY party well and this is why the GOP will loose.

Besides, Obama’s election clears the way for Clinton v Christie in 2016. After Christie’s response to Sandy he is on good footing. However, good luck in reaching out to Latinos in 2016. GOP voter suppression efforts will be long remembered, the Democrats learned that after the Bay of Pigs.

Joe, they pulled Colonel Wood and his team off of the embassy just before the attack. They were there. You mean to tell me they said, “Well, this is getting dangerous, but we can’t afford to pay for any more security?”

That position is downright stupid. If they couldn’t defend the consulate, because of budget cuts, then they should have pulled everybody out, as the Brits did.

I review about ten news sites per day, including Fox. Fox’s news coverage is equitable with the others. Yes, there analysts lean right, but their news coverage is fair and objective, unlike CBS. See the link.

Anything I mean to tell you I will you, no need to put quotes in my mouth. There is no documented evidence securtiy contractors or Colonel Woods were working for free. An investigation will determine why they were pulled, if even they were pulled. The Fox News source you point to uses anonymous sources from Blue Mountain Security to state that calls for help were not answered. CBS news uses anonymous State Department sources to state they were not pulled but their mission was over:

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-18563_162-57527150/congress-to-probe-security-flaws-for-libya-diplomats

An investigation would show if the mission was ended due to lack of funds.

It is also typical of the back bench to simply critize especially when nothing is expected of them. One the one hand we need to pull our embassy out of Libya and on the other we need to get involved in a hot war in Syria. Then again, no one is accusing the GOP of consistency.

You think the investigation is going to determine and honestly reveal how bad this situation was? You are naive.

Anonymous November 5, 2012 at 8:31 pm

Mission was ‘over,’ not ended. Again Joe, you are gullible.

Joe November 5, 2012 at 2:06 pm

One last thought for you to ponder, if France and Germany had intelligence that Iraq had WMD’s why were they against the invasion. To set the record straight only the US and UK had such intelligence. Afterward, the UK had a major scandal regarding how the intelligence was “sexed up” to justify war. A fact not significantly covered her since News Corps paper, The Sun, was instrumental in pushing for war. Furthermore, as Scott McClellan and subsequent investigations into the intelligence has shown the decision to invade Iraq was made by Cheney and the White House before intelligence was sought. When the intelligence contradicted their predetermined assessment the CIA was instructed to redo and resubmit.

France and Germany did not have such intelligence and voted against the war. That is why we were eating “Freedom Fries”.

Strange that you go on about this attack in which 4 people were killed in Libya, and yet you don’t mention the over 300 killed in Beirut during Reagan’s administration, or the close to thousands of Americans killed in Bush’s war, which was based on a lie.

What is clear, is that since watergate, Republican administrations have been increasingly lawless and incompetent. Democrats in contrast have been competent, constitutional and honest.

A vote for Romney is a vote for lies, and treason.

The Libya incident is not a scandal because of the number likked, you idiot. It is a scandal because they chose not to protect them in hopes of political gain. It is a scandal because the administration has withheld, diverted, and lied to avoid election fallout.

Any and every presidency has had screw-ups. If I remember correctly, we were attacked at least three times when Clinton was president, and we are still waiting for the response.

And by the way, the war based on a lie story – that is a lie. All agree, including the Democrats that voted in favor of the war, that intelligence reports said Hussein had WMD’s. Everyone was wrong, but there were no lies.

Be careful on who you call an idiot. Speaking of scandals, ever heard of Valerie Plame? Let me jar your selective memory. Her husband got on TV and stated the reports of Iraqi yellow cake purchases in Nigeria were lies. In response your former GOP administration outed his CIA wife and placed her and her contacts in danger for political gain. Joe Wilson, Scott Ritter, UNSCOM and UNMOVIC were not wrong. There was no evidence of WMD in Iraq, it just did not fit into W’s war plans and was ignored.

What you are doing is imagining how a Romney Administration would ochestrate such a conspiracy and acusing Obama of implementing it. Why would Obama want to release the Blind Shiek? Is it because he’s a secret Kenyan Muslim who pals around with terrorists and imposes death panels? What evidence is there for any such conspriacy?

You people live in your own little dream world and then can’t understand why you have a hard time convincing the world the sky is pink. This is why you will loose on Tuesday.

A vote for any politician is a vote for lies. The system, having become more ‘Democratic’, makes lying prerequisite. Democrats provide no contrast. They are equally, perhaps even more, guilty of rule by Presidential fiat; ordering troops into combat without a war declaration.
If Bush’s faulty intelligence was a ‘lie’, how is it that the Obama Administration takes refuge in ‘faulty intelligence’ in the Benghazi debacle? Is this how it works? A Republican’s lie is a Democrat’s misinformation? You have to reach back to the Reagan administration for a fig leaf to cover your duplicitous, criminal leader.
How sad and embarrassing it is to have one of my own species demonstrate a longing for the ‘good old days’ when we were primates. Your hero worship is showing. Even Arnold’s worshipers had to finally admit that he was only human and flawed. The truth will set you free.

The traitors are the GOP members in Congress who cut embassy security funding. I don’t have to reach back to Reagan, I just have to look at Romney’s VP choice. The GOP are holding the government hostage and placing our troops and ambassadors oversees in danger. Obama offered the GOP 90% of what they wanted during the debt ceiling debate and members like Ryan and Cantor stated it wasn’t enough. They are holding us, our troops and ambassadors hostage until they get everything they want. Who is guilty of treason!

OK Joe, let’s pretend any of your thoughts make sense. The GOP cut embassy spending, and the event occurred just as they wanted. Did the GOP send a security team away a few days before 9/11? Did the GOP tell two former Navy Seals to stand down? Did the GOP tell a strike force to stand down? Did the decision to not send in available support forces come from the GOP?

Your position is truly everything you accuse the republican contributors of being. Even if we pretend there is some credence to your thoughts, the machinations of the GOP did not prevent the current administration from protecting the people in Libya.

Face it, the president is embarrassing, but you need him to be everything you wish he was. Not only is he much less, but he isn’t even close to acceptable.

Your hero worship is clouding your judgment.

Judging by your vehement response you have no need to refer to republican contributors in the third person as you are at least a sympathizer if not a member of the GOP yourself. As for pretending, as a conservative that is definitely your strong suite so I leave that to you, I don’t have to pretend that my thoughts make sense.

The facts still stand. You can check the Heritage Foundations GOP apologetics and you will see a sharp decline in embassy security spending in 2010 and 2011.

As for everything that has occurred before the attack I cannot speak to it and it should be investigated but I would never jump to baseless conclusions such as Obama is seeking to release the Blind Shiek in an election year, an assertion I have seen on this website. You want to talk about an assertion that makes no sense I do not see how that makes sense. How does releasing a terrorist in an election year help?

You seem to understand that line of thought but cannot follow my posts?

But it is obnoxious to be accused of treason for holding a different opinion isn’t? You don’t need act like a disintereted observer, you to have an obvious bias and people on your side routinely throw around the accusation of treason to members of the left. The contributor below me implies as much. To this individual, I would be upset over the matter if it was caused by incompetence but I would not trust a challenger who sought to capitialize on my loved ones death either. Ms. Doherty had to request this of Romney, you really trust this man?

Additionally, post your insurance premiums and medical history on this site so that we can verify you premium increase is due to Obamacare. There are any number of reason your premiums could have increased, present your evidence.

You undoutable watch NBC, CBS, CNN, you have truely bought the beach front property in Arizona, (THE SO CALLED NOT A COVER UP) Wonder how you would feel if you are legal American if one of them for dead was your Son or Daughter, please open up you freaking brain people and at least vote for a real American, who will not fire his Cammanders in the field when the give support to one of our own begging for help and being told to stand down. When the smoke clears Obama will throw Hillary Clinton under the bus to save face. He is the worste president we have ever had, My personal insurance rates went up 12% this coming Jan, yet Obamacare wouldn’t cause that, another freakin lie,. WAKE UP.

The only traitors are American citizens such as yourself aiding the lies of a questionable president. No American should have to question their President’s loyalty to the country. As with standard Obama fashion I see that you are pointing the fingers at Republicans as if they are to blame for the massacre at Benghazi. This is not hardly the fault of Republicans. Republicans didn’t leave Americans to the dogs, Republicans didn’t leave Americans to fend for themselves for 7 hours. Republicans didn’t order reinforcements to “stand down”. That blame is on the shoulders of your precious hero, Obama either purposefully or inadvertently which it doesn’t even matter which was the case. What does matter is that the blood of these Americans is on Obama’s hands. He may as well laid out a red carpet and sent a formal invitation to the terrorists. We all know the truth of what happened at Benghazi, now it is time for the important question: WHY? What has this administration gained in the deaths of these Americans? What happened in Libya is not even close to summing up in entirety why any proud american shouldn’t vote Obama. I suggest you quit watching biased News outlets and blindly believing the smut thrown out by the Obama camp. It is a shame that it has come to this however if you want to get to the truth look to News outlets outside of the US, read through the staggering amount of executive orders signed in under 4 years and you’ll see the picture that is very plainly painted. In staying with facts during Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign he stated” If I don’t cut the deficit in half then I don’t deserve a second term”. We all know the deficit wasn’t cut in half in reality it has more than doubled, unemployment is going up. The trend is eerily similar to what happened to 1938. Obama has crushed the coal/gas industry, the auto industry he bailed out has outsourced their plants to China with GM’s CEO saying he wants to move more. Obama’s tax plans are going to further cripple small businesses to the point where people are going to have to close their doors, the growth of our economy is declining instead of increasing as it should be. Do you really need more reasons not to vote Obama? Obama himself saying he doesn’t deserve a second term isn’t enough for you? It’s high time America has a president that isn’t too proud to take responsibility then move on to keep us heading in the right direction. Obama, like a child, refuses to take responsibility for any shortcomings, he’d rather sit around and point the finger at whoever fits the bill to be thrown under the bus. The point is nobody is perfect, I don’t blame Obama for that but I do blame him for refusing to take responsibility for himself. Obama is an ineffective president and can’t by his own words achieve his goals so he needs to step down to make room for someone that can. This is about the future of America and is not the time for the president of the US to be worrying about his ego. Before the second response comes out of your mouth, NO I AM NOT RACIST! Obama lacks the responsibility and values to efficiently do his job. His smug egotistical attitude does nothing for the grave state of our economy.

Joe November 5, 2012 at 6:21 pm

I had no intention of accusing you of racism and quite frankly I don’t need to. There is nothing in your post that is factually correct. I am voting for Obama because I love America, not due to hero worship. Just so you know, I do not agree with everything he has done. I do not agree with his policy of drone strikes, I do not agree with his signing of the NDAA and I would have preferred a single payor Healthcare system. However, there are only two realistic choices in this election. I think Romney will follow the blueprint established by Reagan. He is promising sharp cuts in taxes with sharp cuts in benefits and increased military spending. He will deliver on two of those promises, taxes and increased military spending. The result will be deficits that will dwarf what you complain about now. He attacks our policy in Iran but other than war, what more would he do? His ineptitude and incompetence will bankrupt the country. He will also move to repeal healthcare reform that will place millions in an uninsured status. I am more than comfortable with my decision.

Ability to dismiss new revelations will probably depend on how much they are able to reveal. Getting the revelations published is the challenge.

Well done!

I hope and think you are wrong about the eleventh hour address. I hope you are wrong because it will work. I think you are wrong on the basis of a tiny piece of information.

The son of a longtime friend of mine works for the state department and delivered an address recently. I congratulated the son for the honor of being asked to make the address, and his mother communicated my wiseguy comment to him. I told him to break a leg and enjoy his moment. I also asked if he could let the audience know what happened in Libya. The response I recieved through his mother was that Libya was “old news.”

Now I confess that I have no other substantive information on the subject, and that all subsequent comments are speculative. However, I believe that the position that Libya is old news is telling. I think the plan is that with media collusion, the administration can simply stonewall if preseed, and otherwise play possum. So long as Fox is the only outlet pressing the issue, the administration can easily continue to dismiss the issue and any reevelations that are uncovered between now and election day.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
