The Lion of the Senate has Passed, a word from his prey….

With the passing of the last Knight of Camelot, an incredible chapter in American history is closed. Three brothers who helped shape our nation. All three could be called lions, only with very different prey. JFK fought socialism and communism, even to the point of backroom deals with Joe McCarthy, bucking his own party, and could more readily be identified today as a Reagan Republican than a liberal democrat. RFK in turn fought for justice, gallantly stepping up to the plate against organized crime and also was freedom fighter against the communist.
Then there was Ted, ‘The Lion of the Senate’.
The 3rd longest serving Senator is US history, being seated for 46 years. The Lion championed many good causes and deeds during that time, from cancer research to giving voice to those with mental illnesses. Ted Kennedy and his staff wrote and passed a whopping 300 bills that were passed into law, and co-sponsored many more.
A ‘Lion’ is to be admired. He is the king of his domain. He favorite prey, lambs. First the young, then the weak and finally the rest of the stock. Senator Kennedy s lambs could best be described as conservatives, especially those who tried to befriend the Lion.
Senator Kennedy was the very backbone of the liberal movement. Under the influence of The Lion our nation has been forever changed from a country where any man could work his way to unlimited heights to a nation of whiny disinterested drones. We now have one out of every five Americans putting their hands out for food stamps, at least ½ the nation demanding ‘free’ health care, every possible group of Americans banding together for ‘special rights’, the top half of producers paying 97% of the taxes and everybody else trying to get a slice of the top half pie, unelected bureaucrats telling us how to raise our children, run our business and even if we can cut a tree on our own land.
The Lions tracks are everywhere!
The amount we spend on Congressional private jets and any one of the dozens of new entitlement programs is what used to be the total nation debt was when the Lion entered office.
The seeds of socialism were planted with FDR, but nobody has had a greater part in entrenching our nation into the bureaucratic, entitlement mentality, liberal, let the state think for you garden more than Senator Kennedy.
For 46 years, he has always been there. Whether directly or indirectly his presence and power has moved our nation from capitalism towards socialism. From the rights of every citizen to the overwhelming power of the government. The phrase you can t fight City Hall is more obvious than ever and we have The Lion and his pride to thank.
Every now and then the sheeple find a shepherd like Ronald Reagan to stop The Lion and his pride from devouring conservative principles, but today we have no shepherd, and though The Lion is gone, his pride still hunts us, and we still run. Perhaps in 2012 another shepherd will be found.
As one of the prey I recognized the majesty and passion of The Lion. He followed his nature, he did what he felt he should. I am very sure there will be reward for him on that account.
