Consti here coming to you from the Bunker’s movie theater where I have just finished watching the Untouchables again, and reminiscing about my youth in Chicago. Now people from Chicago are a special breed. Many do not take kindly to being told what to do, and most if not all do not play by the rules. It’s a place steeped in mystery from Ms. O’Leary’s cow that started the great Chicago fire to Capone and the Valentine’s Day massacre. There is a history of corruption, vice, pay offs, cronyism, back room deals, and Abe Lincoln. Often you hear reference to “the Chicago way” and it’s no joke. It’s a big city and people disappear all the time. With that in mind I would like to draw some parallels to the Chicago way and our President from Chicago.
For those of you who don’t know of the Chicago way it is to intimidate, threaten, bribe, cajole, silence and strong arm your opposition. And if that doesn’t work there is always some cement shoes and a walk in the Chicago River. Let’s take a look at some of these.
Intimidation – (Results of about 2,190,000 for Obama AND Intimidation)
“Mr. Jennings writes, “They wanted to intimidate WGN [the radio station involved] and force management to reverse its decision to put Kurtz on the air. They urged their supporters to send intimidating e-mails and make phone calls to WGN to complain. The station was deluged with calls and e-mails.””
“Last month Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid compared those who have been opposing various points of the health care reform bill as those who opposed the end of slavery. When there was an outcry of disgust over the comparison no action was taken by anyone in the Senate and Reid never apologized for his statements. Nevertheless when South Carolina Representative had an outburst towards President Obama he received a censure from the House of Representative.”
“We keep hearing stories of intimidation by Obama supporters and Obama organizers that are out there telling workers that… if they vote for Hillary they could be fired.”
“Yesterday, Pastor Himes provided powerful, and courageous, witness to the union violence he and his wife saw in St. Louis on August 6th. They provided strong testament to the union attack on Kenneth Gladney. But, his comments only dealt with the events of that day. Evidence is emerging that the events of that day went far beyond St. Louis and may have been part of a nationally orchestrated campaign to intimidate and silence dissent.”
Anyone remember the Black Panthers guarding a polling place in Philly? You know the two guys that were convicted of Voter intimidation only to have the Justice Department drop the charges?
Threaten – (Results 1 – 10 of about 3,450,000 for Obama AND threaten)
“Kyl “publicly questioned whether the stimulus is working and stated that he wants to cancel projects that aren’t presently underway,” LaHood wrote to Brewer, a Republican. “I believe the stimulus has been very effective in creating job opportunities throughout the country. However, if you prefer to forfeit the money we are making available to your state, as Senator Kyl suggests, please let me know.””
““Don’t think we’re not keeping score, brother,” Obama told DeFazio during a closed-door meeting of the House Democratic Caucus, according to members afterward.”
“Mike Sola, the man who questioned John Dingell in MI town hall meeting reports he got visited by thugs in the middle of the night.”
“According to a Senate aide, the White House is now threatening to put Nebraska’s Offutt Air Force Base on the BRAC list if Nelson doesn’t fall into line.”
Bribe – (Results of about 753,000 for Obama AND bribe)
“A $100 million item for construction of a university hospital was inserted in the Senate health care bill at the request of Sen. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., who faces a difficult re-election campaign, his office said Sunday night.”
“On page 432 of the Reid bill, there is a section increasing federal Medicaid subsidies for “certain states recovering from a major disaster.” The section spends two pages defining which “states” would qualify, saying, among other things, that it would be states that “during the preceding 7 fiscal years” have been declared a “major disaster area.” I am told the section applies to exactly one state: Louisiana, the home of moderate Democrat Mary Landrieu, who has been playing hard to get on the health care bill.”
“Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) secured the pivotal 60th vote after acceding to the demands of Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) for tighter restrictions on insurance coverage for abortions, along with increased federal aid for his home state and breaks for favored health-care interests.”
Now we were promised “Hope and Change” we were also promised the most ethical and transparent administration in history. What I have provided here is just the tip of the ice berg. Let’s not forget the failed bid for the Olympics that would have made several of the One’s cronies rich in land development. Obama raced to try and convince the Olympics committee to bring it to Chicago. Where his friends would profit the most from an Olympics bid.
THEN-PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEE BARACK OBAMA: We’re going to have to change the culture in Washington so that lobbyists and special interests aren’t driving the process and your voices aren’t being drowned out.
OBAMA: I’ve spent my entire adult life working with SEIU. I’m not a newcomer to this.
Yet the head of the SEIU has the most visits to the white house with 22 perhaps more since only the records to July have been released. And let’s not forget the several stories of SEIU thugs beating up anti-Obama supporters.
My friends having grown up in the windy city I can say without a shadow of a doubt that the Chicago way has come to the White House. That mentality is currently driving policy, legislation, and the actions of a sitting president. I urge all of you to look with a clear vision at exactly what was elected.
Remember, cement shoes are cheap and the river is deep.

The 2012 Presidential Election is fast approaching

The GOP race is now a field of 4 with only Romney, Gingrich, Paul, & Santorum still standing. Who will be the next candidate to exit the race & who will emerge as the eminent GOP nominee?

I was born and raised in two places. The Midwest and the west coast. You can say I have a mid-west core with a west-coast mentality.
I was a Cub Scout, a Boy Scout, A Scout Leader, and a volunteer so I learned my civic duty at an early age. Well before mandated school curriculum required me to. Long before a sitting President made it "cool" and definitely before he "required" it of us. I am a product of the Public Screwl System!!
I am like you a citizen of the U.S. I get up, go to work, come home, kiss the fiance pet my cats, have dinner, play Xbox, love the fiance, and go to bed. I pay my taxes, my healthcare, my car payment, rent, power, and the rest of my bills just like you.
The difference you might ask is I use my voice to bring to light the corruption, hypocrisy, greed, graft, miss-management, and utter shenanigans of the government in power. Who so ever that should be. Like the late great Mark Twain, I am for the country, not it's institutions. I am for the Constitution, not the talking heads on T.V. I am for the people of this great country, not the power structure that is.
The truth my friends is an ugly thing. However, only the truth will set you free. So look upon the face of the beast with me and laugh my friends. For that is what the face of truth requires. Humor.
The reason I blog about politics and our American society is it is my way of participating in the dialog and democratic process that is our Republic. I urge all of you reading this to play your part in our society and make your voice heard. Which ever side of the political spectrum you are on. The government is not the boss, you the public are. Make use of it.
I hope you find something here that makes you smile or laugh. If you do then I have done my job. If you find something here that makes you think or change your mind then I am truly blessed. Either way my friend let's buy the ticket and take the ride as Hunter S. Thompson said so eloquently.

Consti,
If you can’t remember your own references about your cahritable works, please reread your own posts, especially the ones in the last two weeks or so where you brag about hosting a Toys for Tots event. Ditto for your constant litany about how terrible your life has been. It’s sad that you do not even remember what it is you write, which is quite telling. But if you can’t even remember what you write, it is not a surprise that you misquote others on what they write since you can’t be exprected to remember what they write either.
I cannot slander someone who doesn’t even have the guts to admit who they really are. It is the same as “slandering” a fictional character, although if you feel slandered it is because I am probably hitting too close to the truth. Please, take whateve actions you see fit. Are you going to sue me? If so, there are plenty of words here read by a large number of people to bear out anything that I have written.
What is that quote about opening one’s mouth and removing all doubt about one being a fool? With your ridiculous threat, you have shown yourself to be a fool. Oops, is that slander, too?
Thank you for the good laugh.
Again you insist in making it about me. Your obsession with me is almost laughable. I never mentioned my charitable work so why you go off about it is beyond me. Again Laura you comments are typical. Don’t address anything in the article just attack the writer. When I see you comments all I see is blah, blah, blah. More of the same dribble. When you actually have something interesting to say that isn’t an attack on me personally I might read it. Until then it’s just more of the same from you. Since you can’t address anything I write and insist on attacking me personally you really have nothing to contribute. I don’t fear you nor am I the angry person you try to make me into. I am however getting tired of your senseless attacks on me personally. Any more slander on your part and I might consider my options. That is if I want to further waste time on you.
Consti,
Playing Alinsky again I see. I don’t feel the need to play the world’s smallest violin for myself or to make a big deal out of the things that I do for others, unlike you. I don’t do for others for gratification or to be holier then thou, so I don’t need to brag about it. You assume that you know so much about me…what did you say about people who ASSume?
As for hating the rich- I don’t hate the rich and never said I did. I don’t envy the rich because nearly all of the ones I’ve ever met are miserable and use money to buy things to make them feel better about themselves and their lives. I made six figures a year in real estate and guess what? I walked away from it because I grew up and realized that money isn’t important, doesn’t make you happy, is a palliative at best and is not worth selling yourself for. If a person can make money while being true to themselves and their conscience, and be honest and ethical while doing right by others, then who am I or anyone to begrudge them their success? I don’t. But those people are few and far between. The majority of the wealthy would do just about anything to make a few extra dollars and use their wealth as a shield and an excuse from being responsible and acting as good human beings. If they start to feel guilty, they then throw a couple of bucks at a charity while being sure to get a receipt so that they qualify for their tax deduction. I never cease to be amazed at the “philanthropists” who ask for a receipt for tax purposes- isn’t the point of giving to be generous and selfless?
I am wasting my breath when it comes to you, because you have no desire to see me or anyone who feels differently from you as they are. If you did, you couldn’t hate and be hateful the way you do. Suffice it to say, you know nothing about me, you have no interest in knowing anything about me and since you don’t, I find your attempts to criticize who you think I am as amusing at best. It’s obvious that you will will skip words printed in black and white or alter them to fit your version of the truth, so the fact that you totally misread nearly everything I write to fit an ASSumed version of who I am comes as no surprise.
I don’t know why you are so threatened by me if you are so confident in what you think and believe in, if they are ideas that come from your heart rather than simply regurgitated and based on discontent. You aren’t even confident enough in your statements and opinions to use your real name. Maybe you are not so sure of your convictions as you would like us to think…
Alinsky must be smiling down from heaven at one of his star pupils right now, saying “Consti, ya done good.”
Oh look! Fannie and Freddie head CEO’s get a $6 mil bonus!! I see the government still takes care of it’s own!

Actually no I did not see it. But thank you for pointing it out again. We all know how you feel about k street and the rich so I really didn’t pay attention to more of your ranting about the evil, white, rich, old men who run the country from a secrete kabala. And since this was about Chicago I would appreciate it if you would stay on topic as you are so fond of asking me to do. My pal Al was after all from Chicago… so you help illustrate my point.
Really Laura your envy of the rich is amusing. You must feel so vindicate in helping the poor while living in the suburbs. I’d pay good money to have you spend 24 hours on the street as a homeless person. No money, no phone, no friends, no food, and a cardboard sign on the corner. When was the last time you watched a heroin addict shoot up? When was the last time you were accosted by a homeless person trying to sell you a parking spot? When was the last time you watched a person get chased out of a subway because they had no money? Just because they wanted to get warm? I have seen all this in the last 6 months in Seattle alone.
Like most progressive liberals you are quick to pay lip service to helping the poor, but I doubt you seldom deal with them in your everyday life. No the award winning Laura Bramble hasn’t seen desperate, hasn’t seen the drunk stagger out of a convince store with a 40 in his hand after pan handling $3 bucks off of some poor sucker.
When you get that red headed temper you are so fond of touting under control, and stop sinking to the level of political discourse that you complain about, then I’ll start paying attention to you again. Until then, your comments don’t interest me at all since they serve only to show you callous side. It’s the intelligent, civil, human being I am interested in.
Consti,
No response to all the info on K Street. I guess that you just didn’t see it-maybe because you didn’t want to. You had plenty of personal venom to spit my way, but nothing to say about the facts.
Color me surprised, since you do it all the time. But that’s okay… your patron saint Alinsky would have done exactly the same thing.
Oh! And not only are they corrupt in Chicago but they are sometimes incompetent at it. Just look at Blago or Rizeko… Just saying. (Btw…GO BEARS!)
Laura,
My horse is just as high as yours little lady. You are one to talk. At least I am not a blind follower. Again, you are welcome to your opinion as it suits you, but since all you can do is insult and attack me all I can say is again you have no argument. Only venom.
Obviously civil discourse is not your strong suit despite your complaining about everyone else but yourself. When you can control that red headed temper you are so proud of perhaps then you will have something valid to say. Until then I suggest you up your dosage.
Consti on a high horse…HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Please…read Consti’s comments to ANYONE who does not agree with him. ‘Nough said….
HAHAHA! No sooner do I stop commenting then I see this….
“Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) said the White House and the Democratic leadership in the House of Representatives have been pressuring him not to speak out on the “compromise” abortion language in the Senate version of the health care bill”
For those of you who read these comments (Other than the usual suspects) let me just say that when people berate you for your opinion or try to make you out as some angry, biased, foaming at the mouth, hater it’s because they can’t argue with your points. They will lower themselves to name calling and these tactics of trying to make you into something you are not. Do not fear these people and their lack of civility for they are scared of what they see coming. Instead of being rational, reasonable, dissenters to your view they will attack you personally. Wear it as a badge of courage that you are doing something right. For when they are trying to silence you voice you must speak louder.
Laura,
Oh, and for complaining about political discourse in this country again you too stoop to the level you complain about. So I would suggest you pratice what you preach and contain your venom.
JFesta
Thank you for your opinion. I have explained why I write under a pen name so I will not repeat myself to you yet again. If calling people cowards makes you a man then congratulations. As for soft, don’t ever come to Arizona my friend they will eat you city folk.
Laura,
As usual I expect this reaction from you. All I will say is you are welcome to your opinion and thank you for once again being insulting.
You are right, Chicago is a great city. I was born their, raised their, and still live there. I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. I don’t have to stomach to live in any of the other softer cities. I also know that the only thing people from Chicago hate more than someone getting high hat is a coward. I have no problem with voicing opposition, but have the guts to sign your name when you do it. My name is on everything I write. I am John Festa, I’m from Chicago, IL, and I damn all cowards.
Just a little FYI, the story about Offutt Air Force Base was made up. The right wing blogger who broke the story has since retracted it, admitting that he had no capitol hill source. It’s also worth noting that the committee that handles base closures and the realignment of forces, the BARC list, does not meet again until 2013, after the next presidential election, when there is a chance Obama won’t be president anymore.
For those several here who seem to need a K Street primer…

Maybe now Consti can see what true modern masters of manipulation, intimidation, and bullying can, and have, done. Just some perspective…
L,
Make that 99%, and 1% lie.
FYI
Oh how quickly we forget…
Valerie Plame
Attourneys at the Justice Department
Reporters all over the US
Foreign governments around the world
The American public via the Patriot Act
Apparently intimidation, threatening, and bullying are trademarks of how things get done in Kennebunkport and Crawford too. Apparently cow patties and lobster traps work just as well cement and the Atlantic Ocean and wells is just as deep. We could also talk about the tactics in San Clemente, Harrisburg, Little Rock, Yorba Linda, Plains, and so on. Just because two words appear in a search request proves nothing—get real. You must not do many searches on Google if you think that means anything, but you do LOVE to grab at straws, no matter how flimsy when it comes to Obama.
Please…if you are going to criticize someone, then at least be objective. Your foaming at the mouth, anti-Obama schtick is so old. If he were caught masterbating, you’d come out about it as if he were the grossest person on earth and make it seem as if he was the only man to ever masterbate, even though a full 90% of all men do. Your obvious and irrational bias makes everything you have to say about the man suspect. I’d give your attacks more validity if you ever made them on anyone else other than Obama, Rangel, Pelosi, Reid or the Dems. When DeLay, Gingrich, Abramoff, Nordquist, K Street, etc are brought up, you say absolutely nothing or go into attack dog mode about something insignificant and start personally insulting people.
Put down the red Kool-Aid, come out of the bunker and look around at the WHOLE world as it REALLY is.
J
If I didn’t get verbally bludgeoned, belittled, dismissed, threatened, and basically treated poorly I would think I am not doing my job right. I’ve never been afraid to speak my mind, (often to pay for it in some way) but more and more I see my job serving as a memory bank. It’s amazing to me that the defenders of the administration so easily forget RECENT history. I mean Obama has only been in office for a year so one doesn’t have to go back that far for examples. And now that his approval rating is at 56% disapproval before his first year is up I believe even more that the implosion is imminent. In fact a DEMOCRAT is today announcing his switch over to the Republican party. And the Democratic party doesn’t poll any better, just look for Fancy Nancy’s ratings and you will get a laugh. Hell they had to BUY 60 votes with bribes to their own party members. Greed me thinks that is visible to the public which is disgusted by it.
So when someone tries to tell you that the Democratic party is strong, doesn’t participate in “in-fighting”, has the will of the people, or mentions the “greater good” just remember this. Desperation is a palpable odor.

I truly believe that if one were to look at history, even recent history, an eerie similarity with Nation Statist can be undeniable.
Most recently (as I keep pointing out) there is Chavez. Public give away of food, energy and while berating the rich for votes. Once in power, state take over or control of the largest business concerns and bands of thugs beating and killing reporters who speak out at his tactics. Oh yes, and grade school children singing praises.
Who can forget that wonderful Peoples State of Cuba. While this was a violent coup, it was for the purpose of Socialism, bringing down the nasty rich. In predominantly Catholic schools children were taught the songs of Castro. They were told by the state thugs to “Pray and ask God for candy, when no candy appeared, they were told to ask Castro, at which point bags of candy were delivered”.
I will not bring up you know who, Mr. H., simply because people dismiss you as a nut, but he was the ultimate Statist, a direction we now head, except he built up his military, our man is reducing.
Just look who our briber/thug in chief sucks up to. He has publically snubbed almost all European allies, while he has bent over backwards to all socialist regimes. Russia, China and dictators he has bowed and unilaterally given them what they want, so far as saying “Iran, who sits on an ocean of oil, has the right to develop nuclear power”, Russia no longer needs our nuke inspectors (while theirs stay here in place), Poland no longer needs missile defense, Star Wars research needs slashed, Jerusalem should be either given to or split with the terrorist Hamas (they were elected by the Palestinians) , and so on, the list is unending.
This Chicago politician is a Socialist machine in the making. Backroom deals, giving less powerful politicians the old carrot or stick choice, constant exposure on TV and print, his portraits on millions of billboards and children’s clothing lines. All dissenters mocked, marginalized or worse. A cabinet of advisors who have the most extreme anti-American views, many of whom regal in offing the old asap and equally vicious to the unborn or nearly born.
It make my skin crawl. My God have mercy on this country. Those blinded by anti-capitalist idealism and those who can still see clearly.
Consti, you can of course expect to be verbally bludgened for calling this thuggish administration to task. Remember, those who see America as a evil old white mans society are often so devoted to redistribution, a genuine desire to see the poor lifted up at any cost, become thugs, they feel they are acting on behalf of charity and pureness.
This is awesome!
