Volume 1: Dope and Cringe.
Some would call it Hope and Change which is still relevant. Hope is relevant because everyone needs hope, otherwise their situations or circumstances would sometimes be just too much to bear. However, we can keep hoping until the cows come home, but that doesn’t mean that our desired solution is required to appear. Change is relevant because it could be in a variety of directions. Though many Americans assumed that this would be for the better, it has proven to not be. But it is still change, nonetheless.
Let’s think about the Hope that we have been given over the past year:
- We hope that we don’t get caught up in the Iran/Israel cross hairs;
- We hope that the unemployment rate doesn’t rise another 5%;
- We hope that the Fed finds the “lost” money of which Bernanke is mum;
- We hope that President Obama finally starts keeping campaign promises.
Actually, I’m glad that he has broken some of the promises I deem as disastrous, like the ones he made regarding abortion and gay marriage. But I digress.
Let’s think about the Change that has occurred over the past year:
- The World may “like” us more, but also now regard us as “pushovers”;
- The unemployment rate has doubled;
- The national deficit has quadrupled;
- USA sentiment toward the war has worsened amidst troop increases;
- The Obama Bailout dwarfs that of Bush, which he verbally criticized;
- Obama’s popularity has made an about face in record time.
In reality, much of this Change is actually much of the Same, except at a greater speed. President Obama is making Bush II look like a mere mortal when it comes to political misdoings. Yet, there will always be people who will make that starry-eyed glance and forever view the cup as totally full, let alone half full. That is until the day they drop that same cup on the floor and watch the ingredients gush out. Of course, even then, it will likely be someone else’s fault besides Obama’s.
It’s shocking almost to the point of humor that people will regard the president as a fighter for their cause – a disperser of wealth among the masses. Yet, I wonder why he hasn’t agreed to evenly disperse his own wealth? Wouldn’t the best way to illustrate a principle be to live it? Why is he such a staunch supporter of the public school system (can you say “Teacher’s Union anyone?) while not letting his daughters step inside one but go to a private school instead? Again, what does this say to all of those “beloved” public school children when their school would not be considered ‘good enough’ for the president’s own child? Why does Obama choose to capitalize on the emotions of many by trying to pretend that he can relate to them when, in actuality, he had an upbringing that most could only dream of or read about?
These answers are simple. President Obama is not the person he has told us he is. It is easy to discuss your dog and your college basketball predictions with Jay Leno if it means receiving a ton of more of the national spotlight. But when it comes to being transparent when it counts, as in the form of doing things from the Oval Office that make an impact on millions of American lives, he has proven that it is just a big Talk Show.

J Byron,
I definitely can’t blame the president for not sending them to a public school. I just can’t stand the double standard of him praising public education and then not partaking of it. Do as I say, not as I do.
Oh, and regarding Obama’s Education Czar, it’s primarily about sexuality and acceptance, blah blah blah. Whatever happened to readin, writin, and rithmetic? That should be his focus. Just more proof that there is an agenda attached and an agenda that is militant.
Erick,
As usual correct on all points.
I’d like to chime in on a couple of your points.
Number 1. My friend L complained on several occasions about lobbies and helping President Obama look better by explaining why his 1st campaign promise was the first broken. Who do you think is the biggest, most well financed, organized lobby? Pharma? That’s what I keep hearing, not that I would mind (they have given us better lives, and operate like the libs who criticize them. On a sliding scale, the richer the country the more they charge, hence Mexico and Canada get a reduced price at the expense of the evil rich here in the US), NO the biggest lobby, THE TEACHERS UNION. That Mecca of Liberal thought who have turned our children into mush minded, Obama singing, rainbow flying citizens. While the Obama Cabinet Member for education, authorized “Fisting” instructions for 14 year olds, along with surgical gloves and lube at a state school sanctioned sex ed seminar (see Drudge Report http://biggovernment.com/2009/12/07/fistgate-barack-obamas-safe-schools-czars-2000-conference-promoted-fisting-to-14-year-olds/ ), while our basics of the Reading and Math have plummeted to just below Uganda.
Well maybe not Uganda, but you see my point.
If you knew who you selected to be in charge of education, would you send your 14 year old, I think he show good judgment keeping his kids out.
Regarding the general overall point of your article, BIZZARO WORLD.
The freakin Russians are asking for our Nuclear Defense Information!
And he hasn’t said NO!
The dollar has devalued almost 20% since he took office, the world is preparing to dump the dollar in favor of some European sponsored currency.
We can’t call terrorist, terrorist. Officially.
The list is endless. Just take Reagan’s mind, turn everything opposite, and you get Obama. God help us all. (That also is unofficial; replace with “Higher Being or The State”, whichever is less offensive to the rainbow coalition)
If memeory serves me correctly there was recently an article that pointed out Obama has given less than 1% of his income to charity. I know being the President doesn’t pay much but sheesh! Some one get that man a buger STAT!!
