Section 8, Article One of the Pelosi Constitution

Nancy Pelosi, the President, and others in Congress have taken it upon themselves to compose a constitution supreme to the one entrusted to us over 200 years ago. Sources say that not all the details have been worked out yet, but the President released a revision of Section 8, Article I to the public:

Section 8, Article I of the Nancy Pelosi Constitution:

‘The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

To borrow money on the credit of the United States;

regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;

establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization, and uniform Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies throughout the United States;

To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures;

provide for the Punishment of counterfeiting the Securities and current Coin of the United States;

To establish Post Offices and Post Roads;

To promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries;

To constitute Tribunals inferior to the supreme Court;

To define and punish Piracies and Felonies committed on the high Seas, and Offenses against the Law of Nations;

declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water;

To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years;

To provide and maintain a Navy;

To establish a government run healthcare system;

To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces;

To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;

To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;

exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States, and to exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings; And

make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof”

Actually Laura I wasn’t commenting on you. As alwasys its all about Laura Bramble. My comment was directed at dfunzy. But I know your ego can’t let it go. As for my arguements only you disagree with them so often, that it’s frightning your obsession with me. As for my voting thats what it’s there for. And now YOU are telling ME how to vote? How arrogant, but I expect no less from you.

I thought you didn’t read what I had to say anymore…Not that you have any real argument against it anyway, so why bother to comment unless it’s for the sake of commenting.

And the negative votes for anyone who doesn’t share your point of view, no matter how valid or well-written, and the pro-votes for your own columns and comments…pretty lame…

Oh, and public education isn’t in there either. Guess then the states and local governments should be footing the entire bill for that one. If people don’t like their property taxes now…
Neither are national parks…
Or providing support for home loans…
Or any benefits for veterans…
Or the FDA or USDA…
Or the SEC and anti-trust law…
OR the CIA and FBI…
Or the CDC and NIH…
Or the EPA…
Or a whole bunch of other government functions that we take for granted to the point that we forget they even exist…

Apparently Mr. Freely glossed over this part of the quoted section of the Constitution he used-
‘The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States…”

I think that about covers it… all of these issues deal directly with providing for the common defense and general welfare, so it doesn’t have to be specifically spelled out in words in the Consititution to be constitutionally sound. Health care reform and public health care is a lot more in line with promoting the general welfare of this nation than a lot of other legislation that has passed through Congress in the last 9 years…Funny, no mention of any of that legislation in this article…Wonder why…K Street, anyone?

Well, also there in nothing in that Section about social security or Medicare, or aid to Universities, or assistance to the unemployed, or giving public lands to build private railroads, or building the TVA, or building airports to expand private aviation, or doing all that the federal government does, and it does a lot, to support the Internet. And there nothing in that section about having a space program. The section mentions the building of public roads, but not the building of space ships.

Of course there is the Preamble and it is a guide, to be used, to understand the Founder’s intent. How does it go? We had to memorize it in the sixth grade.
“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
Sounds to me the Founder’s were concerned about people’s health and welfare. Also, weren’t Mrs. Pelosi, the President, and the members of Congress, the majority who voted for the health reform bill, elected? If they aren’t speaking for the people, who does? The fact is, according to the latest polls, the majority of the people support health care reform and want a public option to buy affordable health insurance. Speaker Pelosi, the President and others are listening to the people, and are standing strong with the Constitution.
