What happens when a Government turns to socialism or communism? Anyone?
Well they quickly do anyway with dissent (freedom of speech), note Chavez and Globo Vision, Putin editors keep turning up dead regularly and Castro long ago filled his re-education camps with those he chose to let live. Often times they execute the educated (Good time for me to mention, I m just an undergraduate), take control of most private industry and lastly replace faith with science.
Let s face it, government doesn t want your money for wealth, they want control (75% of every welfare dollar goes to pay for bloated employee rolls, who for the most part treat their charges like the 2nd class citizens they see them as out of elaborate buildings full of expensive toys) Why do they want control? They want to create their various brands of Utopia or at least a well run machine.
It s never a ‘what’ that stands in their way, always a ‘Who’.
In many countries where religions hold real power, the military kind, we like to make nice, there s plenty of room for give and take. Here we re talking about the peaceful (easier to suppress) Judean-Christian groups. Every night and day a cartoon or TV parody is in onslaught (from the root slaughter) mode to ridicule them (NEVER more dangerous groups). In state schools God has been banned or at least greatly suppressed, while more potentially dangerous religions are ‘celebrated’. Note many schools who have state students recite Muslim prayers and rituals as a way of showing inclusiveness.
No I think all we are seeing boils down to state control, which requires the unseating One Who may give citizens the idea, even government is answerable to a higher power, whom radical citizens may turn to in order to subvert the machine.
Two 15-20 year teachers in Florida face 6 months in jail, a $5K fine and loss of retirement benefits for praying over a staff breakfast, because 4 servers were students in the state run school.
A well known story about when Castro came to power. Castro had his message piped into all the schools, many of which were still operating Catholic schools, saying ‘I want all you children to pray to your Jesus God and ask him for candy tomorrow’, end of message.
The next day no candy appeared. Castro then piped a recorded message asking the children to pray to Papa Castro for candy’. The next day every school desk was loaded with candy. All Catholic schools were soon closed.
No, I don t see this as a struggle between capitalism and socialism. I see a greater cloud. Government as God. Control. We don t question God, they would have us not question Government.
Some may be happy to hear, I will not be posting or commenting much anymore (unless I lose control), although will continue to read, as I am devoting much more time to my book, entitled simply ‘Hell’. I hope Mr. T Nelson (Nelson Publishing I assume) that you won t lose tract of my work, and thank you for the repost in South Africa and parts of Europe (especially Poland, an honor) I m sure you are responsible for.

I go to Catholic Church, but I do not believe in all the Church teachings. I have been baptized and confirmed Catholic and attend Mass every week. However, there are Catholic teachings and temets that I do not feel fit with what what I feel Christ has taught us. That is my right. Does that make me a “bad” Catholic? I don’t know and don’t really care. I don’t live by labels. If I do my best to follow the teachings of Christ in my daily life, who cares and why should you or anyone else care? I am secure in my faith and my relationship with God. I don’t need anyone else’s approval. Who are you to pass judgement? Apparently you forget your own Bible and who it says has the right to judge.
You feel the need to judge me…I am a mature adult who is able to form my own ideas about what I believe in. I don’t need Church dogma to do it for me. Just because a person does not follow all the teachings of a given religious order doesn’t make them any less of a Christian, any less a person of good faith, or a person without morals, scruples, ethics or character.
If I believe in Christ and the Christian God, that is my choice. It is not my place to judge the legitimacy of another’s chosen path to God just because it is different than my own. Christianity, Judaism and Islam all worship the same God, but in a different way. Who am I, or you for that matter, to say that Jews or Muslims are wrong if both faiths had communications with God tht directed them on their paths? If what the major religions of the world believe is paramount is the same: love, kindness, compassion, understanding and patience, WHO CARES ABOUT LABELS? It’s the labels- the dogma and conformity- that take us away from those things. Everytime you spit at someone like me because I do things differently than you, worship differently than you, but in a way that is positive, hurts no one and is according to the same Christian values you CLAIM to hold so dear, you remove yourself from Christ. Where is the love of your brother and sister, where is your understanding, kindness and compassion? Yet YOU are the Christian and I am not? Have I put down how you or anyone else chooses to express their faith? NO, I have not. It’s not my place, it’s not my relationship with God- it’s someone else’s.
You have said that I place myself on a high horse? That I judge? You need to reread what you have written and pass it to all your friends in church and see if they think they are the words of a true Christian. YOU are the one who has let dogma take you away from the teachings of Christ. YOU twist the Bible, which includes the story of the Jews as much as the story of Christ, to create judgement where there is none. Maybe one day you will see through your fog of judgement and see the world as Christ saw it, that we are all united in blood and in spirit.
You should be ashamed of yourself…
You call yourself a Catholic, I did not label you. According to “your said” religon, there is “ONLY ONE PATH to relationship with God”,
that is through the finished work of Christ. According to your “said” religon, you accept that sacrifice in your place for your sins. By accepting this free gift given for you, and accepting that Jesus is the only door or way, choosing to follow Him through his will is the only way to relationship with God.
This is “Christian” unversial, all Christians share this basic faith.
If you really are not a Catholic as you claim, please don’t deceive yourself. Or you could buy an erasable Bible with personal pen to rid yourself of that problematic “Dogma” you complain of. Or you can twist and ignore the bible to fit your agenda, and the all roads will lead to God. Or you could just continue to “call” yourself a Catholic and follow Ophra and Obama, your preferred path where right and wrong are dependant upon circumstances, everybody likes you, and you can continue to call yourself a Christian or Catholic or a garage.
It is the Catholic faith (universial) that Christ became flesh, lived a sinnless life, voluntarily took the punishment of sin on Himself. He died and rose of His own power, and has gone to create a wonderful home for all those who beleive upon him by asking for forgiveness and accepting His finished work. But He warned us “before you accept this gift, count the cost, we will have most point at us and call us names like hypocrites and dogma pushers, intolerant and we must confess the aforementioned truths if we expect Him to not deny us as His true children. Good Luck Ms. Bramble
I meant I love those intolerant followers of Christ… dogma over substance…it’s own form of a false idol in my mind…
I don’t think Hannukah or Ramadan should be allowed. Christmas is a national holiday, though arguably it shouldn’t be.
I don’t think the State is God, J. You are SO off base on that one, to the point of being ignorant. I oove the intolerant follwers of Christ, who taught patience and tolerance….
I feel, as I have said, that religion and faith are PERSONAL issues. Just as I don’t want anyone telling me how I should conduct my relationship with God, I am not a hypocrite and feel that I have the right to tell anyone else how they should conduct their relationship with God, or not, if that is their choice. Freedom of religion is just that, freedom of religion and the only way to fairly exercise and protect that right, since it is not practical to honor every religion practiced by everyone in the US, is to leave religion out of state related matters and leave it in the private domain where it belongs.
I firmly believe that if God felt there was only one way or path to a relationship with him, there would only be one religion around the world and we would clearly know it… Since there is such a wide variety of paths to a relationship and union with God, then who are any of us to dictate what God Himself has not dictated to us?
If the schools can’t celebrate christmas, or even have a christmas tree then why should ramadan or haunaka be alowed? We can teach school children to praise obama as recent video shows. How about we teach them what they need to be successful? Instead of indoctrinating them politically or religiously? Save that rubbish for college professors.
The “Article Proper” my dear Ms. Bramble, included incidentals, but again you make my point, while basically attacking God (any religion will do), you stand for the One you truly embrace, The State. Shall we pray.
You “say” you are Catholic, yet your knee bows 1st to the State.
I know your logic, I also know your true focus. I do not judge your heart or said religon, I do judge your actions and words.
Out of the Heart the mouth speaks.
Don’t kid yourself, you have choosen.
My son should not be taught about the other religions, including their prayers, that comprise the culture of a significant percentage of the nation or would lead to a greater understanding of their “enemies”, but it is okay for teachers to lead schoolchildren in Christian prayer while at school (not for educational purposes)? It is not okay for him to learn about other faiths, but is okay for him to be told (erroneously I might add) that candy canes are symbolic of Jesus, complete with a breakdown of all the elements of a candy cane and what they mean (YES, that actually happened)? If there is no state sponsored religion in the US (and the Founding Fathers, whose ancestors left England BECAUSE of religious persecution, were clear about that), then the only way to be fair about religion is to either pay respect to all or to none. You can’t pick and choose.
I am a Catholic who believes in Christ and the Christian God, but I do not think that my religious beliefs should be thrust on others who believe differently just because the people in power believe in the same God. It is not for the state to tell others that my God is the RIGHT God or to imply that it is the only recognized god. Those who claim to be for “rights and the Constitution” can’t claim they are and then give preferential treatment to a particular religion, faith or god. Religion, faith and choice of who or what to worship or not to worship is a PERSONAL matter and has no business in ANY state sponsored institution or venue. It is not for the state to directly or indirectly sponsor any religion, faith, or god. Anything else is clearly and definitively against the intention of the Constitution. If the Founding Fathers wanted the Christian God to be the state god, they would have clearly said so. Since nearly everyone who had a say at the time was Christian, they could have easily done it.
