I ve come to realize that there is NO LINE between the two. No one has a moral advantage when it comes to level headed political speech. I ll remind you again that no time in recent history can I remember a politician calling the American public ‘stupid‘, ‘racist’, ‘terrorist‘ or ‘evil-mongers‘ as I have heard over the summer. Unfortunately those were all Democratic representatives calling the public names. Also I don t see violence on the Right like the Obama supporter that bit off a finger, or just today the Anti-abortion protestor that was shot and killed in front of a school. That s beyond hate speech, that s violence pure and simple. And who was crying hate speech when images of Bush with a gun to his head were marched down the street? Where were the calls for civil discourse then? Who asked code pink to reign in their bitter speech and protests in Berkley? Who asked the Black Panthers not to stand outside a polling station with weapons and intimidate voters?
It s amazing how utterly devoid of ‘fairness’ the left has become. Especially since their own tactics are being used against them. Kill the messenger not the message. Shout louder than your opponent so they can t be heard. Disrupt, denigrate, and dismiss your opponent as morally inferior to your cause. It s a tactic that has been used by radicalized protestors since the 60 s. Now that it s being used against the progressive left they are going insane. I say it s about time.
So they point to Rush Limbaugh or Fox news and say you get your marching orders from them. Accuse you of being a gun toting bible thumper like the president did in his campaign. They say you are creating a smear campaign. Even though they were caught on tape espousing their hatred for the right like Van Jones did. Which not one MSM outlet bothered to cover at all! They attack everything, except what you are clearly stating as fact. Because they know they can t win on that argument. I am happy to see the teaming masses finally getting up off their collective posteriors and shouting back. We the American public will no longer be treated as ‘sheeple’ by our elected officials and special interests! Fly over country is here folks, and it s going to land on your head. The American public knows when it s being taken for a ride, and I don t think they want to pay for that ticket any more.
In the coming midterm election and the 2012 presidential I will be more than happy to see the people stand up and take action. It s obvious the Republicans won t. Except for one man, who called out the president during his speech, whom the Democrats are now threatening to censure. Where was the rage on the left when they booed Bush during his state of the Union? Free speech is under attack, and I for one am not going to take it anymore. If disagreeing with bad policy, corrupt officials and ‘The One’ is hate speech then sign me up. Mark my words you will see more of this hate speech coming from the left when the midterms start to heat up. I m just surprised they don t call us baby killers like they did back in the 60 s.
Exercising my right to free speech while it s still free.

Yeah I saw that O’Riley factor you mentioned and I think as you rightly do that it was repugnant, and completely out of line. Personally I think he should have apologized for it, but I know he won’t. Speech on BOTH sides of the isle has been less than civil. And, unfortunately, directed at the American population to boot. I can sympathize with you personally. I won’t even tell you some of the things I have been called since swearing here is not condoned. But I can tell you they are not pretty. Just because you are against something doesn’t give someone the right to assume that you get your marching orders from FOX news or Nanci Pelosi. Nor does it make your opinion any less important. Kudos to you for having the bravery to espouse your views and the conviction to stand by them. Left, right, or center, we the people are the true voice of this country.
It was just recent that he died, but Robert Novac said something I will never forget. ‘Always love your country €” but never trust your government!” ‘That should not be misunderstood. I certainly am not advocating civil disobedience, must less insurrection or rebellion. What I am advocating is to not expect too much from government and be wary of it power, even the power of a democratic government in a free country. ‘Ours is one of the mildest, most benevolent governments in the world. But it too has the power to take your wealth and forfeit your life. … A government that can give you everything can take everything away. €
During the last eight years I have spoken out against the Bush Administration many times. While I have never attacked on a personal level and I was deeply embarrassed and disappointed to see people draw Hitler mustaches, I’ve been called a number of things. I have been accused of not supporting our troops. I’ve been accused of hating America. I’ve been called then, and to this day a socialist. I’ve seen people with my views completely smeared on TV. The best example was when a son of a fire fighter who passed away in the 9/11 attack went on The O’Reilly factor. Bill actually had the balls to bring up his dead father and told him that his dead father would have been disappointed in him because of his political views. That was the last time I have ever watch Fox News to say the least.
My all time favorite thing someone has ever said to me, and I’ve heard it a million times is, “If you hate America so much, why don’t you just move to Canada?” As if I have ever said that I hated America.
All that said, I only have one thing to say to you. Tag, you’re it.
