Consti here trying to keep my sides from splitting with all the laughing I have been doing lately. Mostly at a couple of repeated comments I have seen on this site. I’d like to address these comments as I find their repeated use fascinating.
“Old, rich, white, Republican men are…” You can fill in the blank. They are trying to destroy Obama. They are part of a secrete Kabala that runs the world. They are trying to keep the American public ignorant. Blah, blah, blah. This has been a staple of the progressive left’s play book for decades. The problem is, it’s not true any more. Let me point out a few things.
Old, rich, white, men voted in mass to put a black man in office. Old, rich, white, men (like George Soros) voted to put the Democrats in power in Congress. Old, rich, white, men (like George Soros) funded the failed Air America station and helped ACORN gain it’s power. Old, rich, white, men like the Democrats in Congress voted with Republicans to start and fund two wars. Old, rich, white, men want to keep the American public poor. Despite collectively employing hundreds of thousands of people of all races.
The other comment, which I find distasteful, is about “K street whores”. For those of you who don’t know what this refers to allow me to educate you. When someone mentions “K street whores” they are referring to lobbyists. Usually those lobbyists on the right side of the column. Let me just remind you all of a couple of things;
THEN-PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEE BARACK OBAMA: We’re going to have to change the culture in Washington so that lobbyists and special interests aren’t driving the process and your voices aren’t being drowned out.
OBAMA: I’ve spent my entire adult life working with SEIU. I’m not a newcomer to this.
And the SEIU has had the MOST visits to this current White House. If that’s not lobbying/special interests then I am the Pope. So when a progressive liberal starts in with the Blather about “K Street whores” just remember who is the most frequent visitor to the peoples house. The special interest of BIG LABOR!
“Now Consti why are you ranting about Old, rich, white, men and K Street?” And that’s a good question class. As I stated before these comments have been a staple of the progressive movement for decades. Lately, no liberal, progressive or otherwise, has been able to answer my question. When they are booted from power who will they blame for their fall from grace?
If you answered Old, rich, white, men or K Street then move to the head of the class.

I happen to agree with the “red herring” statement as well.
Consti, D,
WE ALL THREE AGREE! Like the three wise men of old, following Consilattions Gold Star. Dibbs on the Frankenscense.
Ladies and gentlemen Dfunzy gets a gold star! Please move to the head of the class!
Your reference to red herrings is exactly the point of my article. Singling out Old, rich, white, men is the red herring. Not only is it sexist, but it doesn’t cover the VAST investments of overseas investors of all races and genders. Not to mention the special interests that are so entrenched in the political landscape.
My hat is off to you sir.
Lol. Predictable as usual that red headed temper you cherish makes you so.again thank you for serving as my example maybe I should compensate you for such good work.
Consti,
Pout much?
If you had a leg to stand on, you’d be at my throat…Instead you pull an Alinsky-style swipe/dismissal.
Sound and fury… LOL
J:
Two lines from your comment makes me think that my blogging brother is having a bit of fun. They are: “time discussed mental illness we used the phrase D’Funzy, “and “In most “Progressive” countries like Russia, China, Cuba and Venezuela… ”
Brother, tell the wife to keep you away from the egg nod.
As for the topic “Old, rich, white, men …” etal, etal., My take on this is that some one has us looking at red herrings. They are trying to divert our attention away from the truth. The real culprits are the big money guys and gals who control vast wealth, who manipulate the system, by using pacs, foundations, and campaign contributions to serve their interests. Now-a-days, a significance under of these people are foreigners who control large multi-national corporations.
As always you are welcome to your opinion it has been duly noted and summarily dismissed. What part of waste of time did you not get? You serve as a perfect example. Thank you. Now to important things like the bears game…
Consti,
Why don’t you take the GOP to task for not representing their own constituents and involving them in the process out of sour grapes and attempting to score political points. Obama got his mandate from the American people, it’s the GOP who has chosen to ignore it and to take their people away from the table, leaving it for the Dems to handle.
The Republican female representative or senator, I don’t remember which, who was talking to Matt Lauer on GMA the morning after the speech where he was called a liar. On live camera, she was asked if the GOP would approve a health care bill if changes and concessions to the Republican’s key issues were included. She flat out said no. She said they would not accept anything that had already been written in any form; they would only accept a health care bill if the then present one was entirely scrapped and the two sides sat down and started all over again. Incredulous, Matt Lauer asked her again if and she said no a second time. The GOP did not want to cooperate on the bill, they wanted to either be able to write it how they wanted, control the process or be able to take the credit. If they couldn’t have that, then they were going to do everything possible to torpedo it. Talk about a temper tantrum…
That meant that the GOP was more interested in politics and ego then in getting effective legislation that addressed what by that point all sides admitted were needed reforms (at first the GOP said there was no need for reforms.) At the very least, the healthcare interests that wanted to see reform squelched would have been able to buy more time and votes, like Lieberman’s, and the GOP would have been able to stall so long that nothing substantive would get done. They would find another issue to get Americans afraid of, like their old standby of terrorism, to draw public attention away from healthcare. Big money and influence peddling would do the rest. And the Amercian people would get reform that was no more than lipservice that Congress could then take back to their districts and brag about. Meanwhile, nothing had really changed.
Who is dropping the ball in representing the interests of their constituents? Who is disenfranchising their own voters, and most certainly those that are not members of their party? Who is placing politics and pettiness over the change and the reforms that people said they wanted and voted for? Got a hint- it’s not the Dems…
Um, SEIU is not K Street and never will be…Please get your facts straight. SEIU was never a part of K Street because they were not Republican and would never be Republican.
You obviously know nothing about K Street, DeLay, Abramoff and Nordquist. It was done all within the GOP and conservatives for the benefit of preserving Republican power and influence, as well as money. Democrats and anything liberal were specifically excluded, so they were not involved, nor were Democratic party supporters like SEIU. The information was spoonfed to you, all you had to do was read it, or all you had to do was Google it for yourself…that’s how I found it and there was plenty of it. All the links I provided were deliberately chosen from neutral or conservative sources-one of the sources I gave you was from Lyndon LaRouche’s own website, for crying out loud! Go ahead and try to say that HE is a member of the liberal MSM! I’m sure Erik and J know exactly who he is.
Please come back and talk about the K Street scandal when you know what you are talking about. Until then, quit accusing groups and poeple of things they didn’t do and weren’t involved in. The facts don’t change just because you don’t want to believe them. They’re all there in black and white…But again, either you know the facts and know you cannot defend them so you go on the Alinsky-style smoke screen offensive, or you remain deliberately ignorant because you want to have plausible deniability. Just stick your fingers in your ears and close your eyes so you can say you didn’t see or hear anything…
Sound and fury…
As always you serve to illustrate my point. Thank you for contributing your unique take on politics. From one side.
So by definition and admittal Obama is in bed with K street! Good going O!!
“The Obama campaign was funded in major part by small individual donations, which did not come from rich white men.”
Where did I say in that sentence that all the donations to his campaign were small? Since you basically call everything I said into question and refuse to address very valid points based on a deliberate misreading of what I wrote, then you are again avoiding and deflecting. Typical, since there isn’t much else you could say. Sound and fury…

http://www.factcheck.org/askfactcheck/what_is_the_average_size_of_obamas.html
Look at the numbers for yourself.
And no matter who got the vote out, the poll employees from both parties made sure that everyone was legally able to vote, which means that the votes counted were legitimate votes and the majority of people who voted for Obama were not rich old white men. Period. If you have sour grapes about how the election turned out and that ACORN got more people to the polls, then maybe you and your fellow GOPers should have gotten off your backside and gotten more Republicans out to vote… Or, maybe you could just accept the fact the majority of people wanted change and voted accordingly. Instead of just whining about Obama and how bad he is, maybe you should go find a candidate who would do the job better and get behind him. Instigate some real change, instead of naysaying those who are trying to get some things done. You’re all criticism and all talk and none of it objective or based on reason. Sound and fury…
And as for the “drawing me out” comment, are you just writing things to get me to respond? Not too sick or obssessed, are we? Sound and fury…LOL
And who was behind get out the vote children?? If you said ACORN move to the head of the class. Say it with me class ACORN is a corrupt organization.
Laura
You are so easy to draw out. If you seriously think the one only took small donations then you are niave. Soros was a BIG donor as was the SEIU. As for the rest of your comments based on just this one point alone… Well let’s just say its not worth my time.
Consti,
Deflection does not address the issues. And I see that you didn’t miss yet another created opportunity to go the way of your patron saint Alinsky…
RE: rich white men put Obama in office…unless rich white men make up over 50% of the voting population of this country, no, they did not. A majority of Americans did. And if you look at the makeup of the majority who did, I don’t think you will find a huge plurity of rich white men.
The Obama campaign was funded in major part by small individual donations, which did not come from rich white men. And I guess the massive “get out the vote” campaign of the Obama team consisted solely of rich white men.
RE: K Street- what brought K Street down was the placing of a Democratic majority in Congress. If that had not happened K Street would be even more alive then it is under the minority leadership of John Boehner, who was very heavily involved. Lobbying has become part of the Washington landscape, but it flourished and expanded by severalfold between 1994 and 2006. Look it up the number of lobbying firms in Washington prior to 1994 and by the end of 2006 if you don’t believe me…I have. And your statements show that you do not understand K Street. There was not merely visits going on- there was out and out vote buying, influence peddling and corruption going on. You deflect instead of defending them because you either choose to remain ignorant of what was going on (despite the information being spoon fed to you) or you know you can’t defend it, so you go on the offensive instead. Alinsky at his finest…
Maybe if the GOP, in acting according to the will of the majority of people and their welfare instead of trying to score a potential political point and support their healthcare industry donors, had cooperated on health care instead of insisting that it had to be either their way or no way at all then Obama would not have had to talk to groups like SEIU to figure out what people wanted. In refusing to sit down and work WITH the Dems, they removed the input from their constituents for the sake of politics. Which left room for other opinions, including the SEIU.
If you knew that no matter what you did, you weren’t going to make someone happy, wouldn’t you instead focus on the people you CAN make happy? How come there’s no mention or refutation in your article about how many of the lobbying firms on K Street and that are related to those behind the Tea Party movement (Dick Armey and company) have major healthcare systems as clients? Just like there’s no corresponding mention of how many visits all the GOP and Tea Party leaders got from those healthcare lobbyists.
You keep harping on the same old things, apparently thinking that if you yell it loud enough and often enough, no one will be able to see the other side of the story. All of your rants about Obama and the Dems are the same tired old talking points, are not accompanied by any recognition or mention of any bad acts by parties OTHER than Obama and the Dems and have been like this for 6 months now. What is the REAL problem you have with Obama… or the Dems? Is it because he is black? Is it because he is young? Is it because the Speaker is a woman? Is it because you are afraid that with a black man and a woman in charge you might lose your special status that has historically been enjoyed by white men and that is protected by the GOP and their traditional and most vehement supporters? What about the changes that are or could happen are you so afraid of? Because your vehemence reeks of fear.
As Shakespeare said in “Macbeth”, “It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.” Deflection, smoke and mirrors, creating a scapegoat- they all sound like sound and fury, signifying nothing to me…
GASP! How dare you tell it how it is! Political incorrectness is the worst form of insult. Don’t you know that?
It doesn’t matter that the Clintons and Kerrys and Kennedys and Edwards and Gores and……..are filthy rich white people. Because when they are on the Left, it is strangely acceptable. But when they are on the Right, they are suddenly out of touch with their down and out brother. A rich white on the Right must have gotten there via big corporation oppression and shady deals whereas every rich white on the Left must have surely gotten to where they are via good, old fashioned hard work. After all, it is really hard work to find ways of stifling people while smiling in their faces and convincing them otherwise.
I made a comment to BrunetteBabe once (after a post similar to the ones you are describing) when she claimed that Sotomayor was being picked on because of her race. I pointed out that John Roberts and Sam Alito went through the burger grinder even worse and, when I last checked, they are caucasian.
Pfft!
Progressives need to come up with a new strategy, and quick. The “Race Card” is simply not working the way it once did. They may actually have to start refuting issues with actual substance. Imagine that!
J,
Thanks for the laugh in reference to mental illness. I actually lol’d and people here looked at me funny.
C,
Thank you for picking up the petard and taking on this ever present and revealing issue.
How would the left react, if every time conservative discuss crime, we included the phase young evil black men. Every time we discussed societies out of control sexualizing of our youth, we used the phrase slutty evil white women, every time we spoke of drunks, we said wild evil Indians, every time discussed mental illness we used the phrase D’Funzy.
Greed and dishonor are not exclusive or even more prominent among rich old white men.
Yes, you’ll say, “But that is who has the power”. To that I’ll pro-actively agree, and thank them for acting in such a way as to create the greatest country that has ever existed!
I’m NOT rich! I AM struggling right now. But I have been blessed to have the opportunity of hiring some wonderful (and not so)people most of my adult life. I have also been an employee, and at all times answered to my clients. Often times the employees resent the employer or the contractors (me) resent the client. They say “if I had what they had, I’d do this or that”. When I do it, it’s OK, when it’s done to me it’s an outrage. You see we all want more power, or at least the ability to tell the powers at be, how it should be. When that desire for control turns to bitterness towards those in power, you have the Progressive Movement. What has been called “Eat the Rich”.
In most “Progressive” countries like Russia, China, Cuba and Venezuela, those with the money use it as a club to keep “The People” in chains waiting for the small benefits of the masters hands. In America, a hereto free country, even a black son of a dysfunctional lower class family can rise to the most powerful position in the world, becoming an evil old black man, well that’s only half right, but fully and intentionally offensive to make point.
Thanks to the Capitalist system so many want to destroy, everybody has a chance, and a guarantee to pursue whatever they please, even to become a evil rich man or woman.
