| Rumor tells it that Republican National Committee Chairman Michael S. Steele may be given the boot. There is speculation, wild as this may sound, that supporters of Sarah Palin may try to get the job for the season’s right-wing darling. Katon Dawson, the former South Carolina Republican Party chairman who lost to Steele by just 14 votes in last February’s RNC election, has been seen eying the job.l(link). And there are others. Well, well, well! What do I have to say to all of this? |
Leave Michael Steele alone. He is the best GOP chairman the Dems could have hoped for!
What are the complaints against Mike Steele? What are the beefs? Why is he being dissed? Well? Well? GOP critics are saying, that he is a poor performer who is not ready for the big leagues, and that should be booted back to the backwaters of Maryland Republican politics. That sounds bias. Why are they saying that? Maybe because he conceded the obvious, that the GOP won’t retake the House in 2010? The man should not be bad mouthed because he told the truth. Why are so many big GOP’ers slapping Big Mike in the face? Why are the shouting at him to shut up. And what is all this stuff about him being caught up in a bookgate? Why do the GOP fat cats really want him out? They say the GOP isn’t raising enough money under his leadership. They say that he has been lining his own pockets with perks and benefits, that with him there has been one gaffe after another. And that he’s out hustling a book, cashing in, using his position for personal gain.
Wait! Slow down. Back up. The book. Let’s look at the book, titled “Right Now: A 12-Step Program for Defeating the Obama.” Doesn’t that sound good? (lols) According to the Daily Beast, and we know their agenda, don’t we? (lols), “GOP big wigs ” say that they did not know about the book before its release and that it could be misinterpreted as an official party statement, Steele told radio host Laura Ingraham that he “wrote this book before I became chairman. Because of the clock and the calendar, I wound up doing it now.” But Talking Points Memo’s Eric Kleefeld quickly noted that the book contains scores of references to events from recent months, including the health-care debate, the Ft. Hood shooting, the stimulus bill, the Tea Party movement, and the confirmation of Justice Sonia Sotomayor.” (link) For this they say Steele caught himself in a bookgate. I say, Humbug!
Man, I have never heard so much whining and cry baby talk coming out of a major political party. Not since Mussolini’s time, as the allies were closing in, has there been so much finger pointing by a party’s key leaders at the leader. GOP leaders through their aides have been pleading with Steele’s aides to, ‘Get him to stop! (link) Stop what? To stop talking. The Washington Post, and we know their agenda (lols) is reporting anti-Mr. Steele stories with headlines like, “Steele’s comments put congressional Republicans on the hunt for a muzzle.” and , “GOP Hill Aides Sound Off on Steele: ‘You Really Need to Have Him Be Quiet.’”
What do I have to say to this? Mr. Steele, please. I hope he doesn’t start listening to The Washington Post headline writers.
Michael Steele, I’m sure he doesn’t as of now. He doesn’t listen to his critics either. He told his GOP critics to shut up. He said, in a very Churchillian manner — “I’m the chairman. Deal with it.” This past Thursday, like the great Winston Churchill facing down the pygmies in his party, big Mike delivered the iron message to his GOP critics, those nattering nabobs of negativism, (yes shades of another great for Dem GOP leader from the past, Spiro T. Agnew) — Iron Mike Steele delivered a shout-out, “shut up.”
So much for the laughs in this post, let’s get to the nitty gritty. In his book, Mr. Steele supports the Tea Party Movement. He states that “grass-roots activism will return the party (the GOP) to its core conservative values of limited government, fiscal restraint and a strong national defense.” While Mr. Steele has been all over the board in his positions on the Tea Party Movement and the Tea Party protests, on his book tour, Mr. Steele seems to be at times promoting the Tea Party Movement and Tea Party protests. Maybe he has had a conversion? Maybe he has realized that right-winger activists buy right-wing books? And he is selling books? Anyway, many Republican leaders and many of the long-time financial supporters of the GOP, are wary of Tea Partiers. Many of these long time GOP money guys and gals have stopped giving big amounts, and are sending a signal that they want Mr. Steele out. What do I have to say to this? Mike Steele needs to keep his job. He’s helping the Dems more than Obama. So all together now: Leave GOP Chairman Mike Steele alone. He is the best hope the Dems have of keeping the GOP down, in 2010, 2012, — for as long as Mike stays in, hopefully, forever. (lols)

D,
You think like a lib. Power through numbers, numbers through giving entitlements or favors.
Conservatives get power through standing on Constitutional principle.
When we try to enlarge our tent through enclusiveness (by compromising principle) we lose numbers, because unlike Libs, we don’t support a party at any costs, we STAND ON PRINCIPLE regardless of the costs.
It really is a unique concept that has made this country great.
J,
GOP leaders like Gingrich and Steele are trying to win national elections in a two-party system. Narrow focused parties don’t win elections in a two-party system. They become enfeeble and they die off.
Many years ago, when my oldest child became a teenager, I was conflicted. They started to act distant, so I tried to be more of a friend and less of a dad. Big mistake, they had plenty of friends, what they needed was solid leadership and consistency. I thought if I acted like I was “with it” they would like me again. What I caused was insecurity and a lack of firm standing, they didn’t know what to expect.
Steele, like Newt tried being the mass media’s friend. They acted like rap was cool and they enjoyed certain songs, when in reality they knew it was a destructive influence. They embraced Snoop Dog in front of the kids, all the while knowing he’s a dope smoking degenerate and a infected boil on the buttocks of America.
Comparisons break down quickly. Steele has tried to play the wise middle. To be understanding and win the public with kindness, when what he needed to do was stand firm on Constitutional principle, be a leader instead of a buddy to all. He has caused those under his leadership to become insecure in believing his principles are more important than his desire to be liked. I feel insecure under his leadership.
I need to know my leader is steadfast and consistent, not cool with everybody.
Update on Mr. Steele. Two items, I thought I should share.
Newt Gingrich Says Republicans Are Scared Of Michael Steele Because He’s Black. Sounds like old Newt doesn’t want a fight over a new party chair. One of those Tea Partiers might get the job. That would not go down well on K Street!

Fox News, that fair and balanced news organization (LOLS), tried to cover Mr. Steele’s behind. When he appeared on Fox News Monday, Mr. Steele, used the phrase “Honest Injun.” Fox re-wrote the transcript to try and hide it. Changed “Honest Injun” to “Honest Engine”. Fox said it was a transcribing error. Since “Honest Engine … isn’t a phrase so no one believed the Fair and Balanced news network.”
