Just in case you had any doubt about the reasonableness and rationality of the pundits of the Right, watch this clip of Glenn Beck. Symbolism only has meaning if and when it is understood. I would hate to be Glenn for a day to see the world through his eyes- a world full of boogeymen out to get the righteous, as exemplified by him.
Does he play records backwards in his spare time, looking for subliminal messages from communists? Or does he record the silence after he asks rhetorical questions to hear if the dead voices of Ted Kennedy, Hitler, Stalin, Marx and Mao answer him back?
He s got to be a trip in the supermarket, looking for hidden symbolism on cereal boxes. Do the fangs on Count Chocula symbolize the sucking dry of the US economy by people whose skin is the color of chocolate?
Scary part is that people take what he says seriously and as the gospel truth. You can tell he planned this and gave it some thought; this was not off the cuff. I can only imagine what Glenn, Bill, Rush, Sean and Ann would have to say about a Liberal commentator who did a piece like that’¦
