You are here: Home > Barack Obama, Current Events, Democratic Party, Hillary Clinton > Hillarycare 2.0

Consti here in the bunker library going over some history from the last 3 decades. As any educated person will tell you; “Know your history or be doomed to repeat it.” With this in mind I give you Hillarycare 2.0.

Now for those of you who don’t remember back in 1992 Bill Clinton campaigned on Healthcare reform. Once in office, President Clinton quickly set up the Task Force on National Health Care Reform, headed by First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, to come up with a comprehensive plan to provide universal health care for all Americans, which was to be a cornerstone of the administration’s first-term agenda. (Sound familiar?) The First Lady’s role in the secret proceedings of the Health Care Task Force also sparked litigation in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, in relation to the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA) which requires openness in government. Starting on September 28, 1993, Hillary Clinton appeared for several days of testimony before five congressional committees on health care. Opponents of the bill organized against it before it was presented to the Democratic-controlled Congress on November 20, 1993. The bill was a complex proposal running more than 1,000 pages. (Again, sound familiar?) Democrats, instead of uniting behind the President’s original proposal, offered a number of competing plans of their own. By September 1994, the final compromise Democratic bill was declared dead by Senate Majority Leader George J. Mitchell. So was the fate of Hillarycare 1.0.

Fast forward to 2008. A young, inexperienced senator from Illinois campaigns on Universal Healthcare again. As well as other things such as the economy with a Democratically controlled congress fawning on his every word. Words like transparency and public notice 72 hours in advance of any bill. This time however the bill is not crafted in secrete and the Democratically controlled congress backs the new President in his push for Universal coverage. (Sort of) 100% coverage is what was promised yet only a 20% increase in coverage comes from this bill. But I digress. Again, the Healthcare reform bill clocks in at over 1,000 pages of twisted legislation and the people who are to vote on it have only 24 hours to read the bill. An impossible feat for any human I might add. Instead of congressional hearings the bill is passed in the dead of night (1 A.M.) after several Democratic Senators are bribed for their vote. Instead of a clean vote on the bill with bipartisanship approval Congressional maneuvering shuts our ANY dissent on the legislation and it is forced through on procedure. Barely squeaking 60 votes to pass.

Now the two bills before congress need to be combined into a final draft of the legislation.

“Despite their claims to the contrary, the way that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid have handled the healthcare bill has been anything but transparent. And, if the left-wing blogosphere is to be believed, the two congressional leaders intend to keep the deliberations secret as they try to merge the House and Senate versions of the legislation into something that will pass both chambers.

Why all of a sudden are the deliberations being kept secret?

“”This process cuts out the Republicans,” a House Democratic aide told TPM, indicating the congressional majority intended to make sure the Republican minority would “not have a motion to recommit opportunity.” It also, says those who are following the issue, allows Pelosi to avoid having to cut deals with problematic House Democrats like Michigan’s Bart Stupak, who has promised to do what he can to scuttle the final bill if it provides for federal funding of abortions.”

So instead of getting a “clean bill of Healthcare” the Progressive liberals in the Democratic Party circumvent ANY dissenting voices. Even those voices in their party which killed Hillarycare 1.0 in the first place. This is how the legislation is being forced on the American people. This is how the “most transparent” administration is going to pass Hillarycare 2.0. Not by a mandate from the people, but by legislative maneuvering, bribery, and intimidation.

I’ve asked this before and never got a decent answer so I will ask it again. Is this what you voted for?

42% Support Health Care Plan, 52% Oppose.

8 times he promised transparency. Even Harry Ried cried foul when the Republicans tried this tactic, yet it’s ok for old hypocrite himself to do secrete meetings… it just gets better and better!

Consti,

What bothers me the most is who this group of lib snakes have used platotudes and short sound bites to get enough Americans to look the other way.
Watch any newscast, or go out yourself and ask likely voters what they “know” of the bill that is likely to pass (due to backroom deals, felonious pay offs, ect.). NOTHING! 1/6 of our national economy (life energy) taken over by the Gov for oversight and eventual outright take over, and NOBODY KNOWS WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!

Well, more and more know it smells wrong, most just can’t say why.
