Consti here coming to you from the Bunker medical facility where the Doctors on staff are taking bets on the Healthcare patient. Odds now are 2 to 1 that the lunacy is terminal.

Tomorrow is the big dog and pony show over Healthcare between the President and the Republicans. Most see this kabuki theater for what it is a big photo session and a chance for the President to further the myth that Republicans are obstructionists. There has been a lot of noise recently about the “mandate or will of the people” being for the President’s plan. This couldn’t be further from the truth if it were located on Epsilon beta. So let’s clear some of the air here.

Obama has come forward now with a plan that will be hard for a lot in his own party to swallow. Federal funding for abortions, mandated insurance coverage, and the more disturbing democratic bribes for votes has been removed. They plan on passing this legislation using a procedure that democrats derided republicans for using labeling it “an arrogant power grab.” Apparently it’s only an “arrogant power grab” if the Republicans are doing it. Obviously the more enlightened, compassionate, reasonable, Democrats don’t intend for this to be a federalization of a large portion of our economy. Last time I checked two wrongs still didn’t make a right. And for all their talk about a “nobler, responsible, transparent” government it appears by their actions they are not above stooping to a level they don’t like. Look up the definition of hypocrisy some time and you will see a D next to it.

The American public did not give the President or the Democratic Party a mandate to fundamentally change our country. And as a people we love the FREEDOM OF CHOICE. With the current legislation they are trying to push the Federal Government WILL REQUIRE EVERYONE TO HAVE INSURANCE AND PROVE IT TO THE IRS. So the freedom to choose between having Healthcare and not being covered will be gone. So someone who is healthy and doesn’t want to spend 10% of their income on health insurance will be penalized. Those on the left who claim that the population is for the President’s plan are being less than honest. The public is for reform, not a government takeover. This is the myth they are trying to propagate on the public. And more proof that they are out of touch with the American people.

It’s apparent that by taking this approach the President is listening to the extreme left of his party and ignoring the will of the people in a blatant manner. The lesson of Massachusetts and the public’s displeasure over the Healthcare legislation was not learned.  In short, the people are for the ideas behind reform, but not the implementation as suggested.

All last summer the American public was shown how their elected representatives viewed their constituents. Never in my lifetime have I heard so many politicians refer to the American public as ‘stupid‘, ‘racist’, ‘terrorist‘ or ‘evil-mongers‘. All for wanting to express their constitutional right to free speech against a policy they don t want. It s evident to me by the reaction that the democratic representatives have had that they are not interested in what their constituents have to say. Even going so far as to answer a cell call in the middle of being asked a question by one that put them in office. Or false town hall schedules being passed around.  The American public does have a memory, and I’m sure they will be reminded.

“But Consti the people WANT Healthcare legislation!” Yes, they do. But they don’t want and have made clear a government takeover of a large portion of our economy. Forty-one percent (41%) favor the proposed health care legislation while 56% are opposed. As has been the case for months, intensity remains with the opposition. Just 23% strongly favor the plan and 45% are strongly opposed. So when someone tries to blow sunshine and lollypops up your kiester just remember. The will of the people has been made positively clear for the last year. Anything else is a lie.

The Buddhists teach that perception is reality. And the perception that is trying to be propagated from the left is that the President and his friends in congress have a mandate from the people. Well if they continue down that path they are in for harsh realities come November.

Do you smell that kids? Smells like fear and desperation coming from the left.

Consti.

Consti,

This is from a link off your own link. The words in parentheses are mine. Again, please use links that support you claims. Plus, have we seen what the survey area is, what question was asked? No. At this point, it’s just a poll… That said-

“A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 51% fear the federal government most when it comes to such decisions. Thirty-nine percent (39%) fear private insurance companies more. “(THERE’S A 10% SWING THERE!!! I WOULDN”T BE POPPING ANY CORKS YET!)

“These views are unchanged from early August when many congressmen went home to town hall meetings filled with voters angry about the proposed health care plan. “(SO MUCH FOR THIS UPSWING IN MOMENTUM YOU’VE BRAGGED ABOUT SINCE THE MA ELECTION…)

“A new provision in the plan proposed this week by the president is “a Health Insurance Rate Authority to assist and oversee state efforts to review ‘unreasonable rate increases’ and ‘unfair practices’ in the industry,” according to the Los Angeles Times. The largest public health insurer in California has just announced RATE INCREASES UP TO 39%.” (BUT INSURERS CAN BE TRUSTED MORE?)

“From the beginning of the health care debate, one of the challenges facing reform advocates has been the fact that most Americans have insurance and are generally happy with their coverage. As Scott Rasmussen noted in a Wall Street Journal column last year, “Most of these voters approach the health care reform debate fearing that they have more to lose than to gain.” (SINCE I DON’T THINK IT WILL AFFECT ME, I DON’T CARE. BUT JUST WAIT UNTIL THEY SEE THE NEXT ROUND OF PREMIUM INCREASES…JUST LIKE THOSE CUSTOMERS IN CA JUST DID…)

“In December, 52% of those with insurance feared that passage of the health care plan proposed by the president and congressional Democrats could force them to change coverage. “(THE PRES HAS SAID OVER AND OVER THAT IF YOU ARE HAPPY, GREAT. THINGS WON’T CHANGE FOR YOU.)

The GOP, since they have to say something on TV or look like fools, are suggesting the same old talking points from over the summer. Tort reform, which the Pres had offered to put in legislation as a compromise, but was told “don’t bother.” Allowing people to buy coverage in states with lower premiums, which is a short term fix at best, since services cost more in states like NY than ND for a reason…Just the rent on office space for a doctor is 3-4 times more, so they need to charge more. How long do you think an insurer in ND can stay in business paying those higher fees and what is the point for someone in NY to buy a plan that pays out a tiny percentage of the cost of a doctor’s visit, requiring them to pay a huge out-of-pocket cost? They can get lower grade coverage for a lower cost already. Don’t you think the insurance companies in ND will charge a separate higher premium for out of state buyers, charge higher premiums for ALL buyers or will privately opt not to cover buyers in certain states? The cost of full coverage will not change and the way things are done will not change. Insurers have been doing their assessments for the last year now to be sure they could roll out with proper pricing that would guarantee they wouldn’t lose a dime. The only change would be the eventual creation of a few large national insurance companies and a few specialized regional carriers to serve the people that the national ones won’t cover, who will then rake those people over the coals since they know they are the only game in town. The people in states with lower costs will be subsidizing those whose coverage costs more or the companies will charge different premiums in different states to reflect the different costs, which is no different than what we have now.

There will be no competition between a whole mess of carriers that will drive price down- look at areas that have deregulated utilities and seen no price benefit and we all can see what eventually happened with phone deregulation- Verizon is Ma Bell reassembled after about 20 years or so. SOME REFORM…SOME LONG TERM SOLUTION. But that’s okay, it is only meant to give the GOP something to brag about to get them through the 2010 and 2012 election cycle- “See, we fought for health care reform too, just like you said you wanted…” As the Pres has said since day one- if you like what you’ve got, that won’t change. So if resistence to change is the real reason for apprehension, then what is the problem? Other than the lies and propoganda peddled by the fright-wingers and corporate shills? What is it you say about Alinsky, again?

j Byron,

Take heart…

More than half of Texas Hispanics now identify as ‘conservative’…

With so many Democrats leaving the party due to the path the party is taking it’s not hard to see the iminant implosion. Especially if they continue to take this arrogant approach of ignoring the public.

My Buddhist Buddy,

Here’s why they are throwing themselves on their petard.

If government option health care passes this year, an immediate 17-20 million newly entitled voters get free (to them) health care.

Later in the year Republicans will re-take the Legislature. All this crap and misery that result from public health will be blamed on the new “heartless” majority, who will stop the bleeding and be seen as the ones who hurt the poor new medical entitled.
Obama will then (say two months before the election) release to 70-80% of the held back stimulus cash and create a temporary economy “bump” to minimize dem turnover.
By 2012, the Republicans in control will be branded as the problem for inferior health care, and with another 20 million on the rolls be then and dependant upon this new entitlement, that’s 40 million dem converts who see their health care as free or subsidized.
Now add over 20 million over paid state and fed employees, 16 million bought and paid for union members, 96% of the 12 million black votes,
20 million brain dead liberal white guilt “new deal” voters, illegal’s and nightly news watchers at least good for another 20 million, all the other socialist style entitlement types who fear anyone changing social security or welfare in many forms, and lastly the huge sectors of American Industry like 2 of 3 automakers, banks and big pharma will be beholden to their masters lest they lose the sweet government guarantees of survival,
WHAT DO YOU SEE?

I see WAY over 50% of the eligible voter turnout voting in their interest, to keep the Gov money and benies coming. All the while attacking the mean “new” Republican majority from cutting what they’ve been promised, entitled.

I see dark clouds. Who knows, maybe Ron Paul will save us all.
