Fred Thompson did not fare well in the 2008 Republican presidential primaries where he was 3rd or 4th in the national polls. Thompson gave a powerful speech in support of John McCain at the 2008 Republican National Convention. I thought his speech was by far the best of any of the speakers at the Republican National Convention. I think Thompson had a poor showing in the debates which probably led to his losses in the national polls. I am conidant Fred Thompson will not choose to run for president in 2012. Thompson recently founded a new political action committee “Fred PAC” to raise money for conservative candidates. It is also rumored that he will return to acting.
