David Letterman’s sexual joke about Sarah Palin’s daughter

David Letterma jokes about Sarah Palin
Late night comedian David Letterman started a firestorm when he made a sexual joke about Sarah Palin’s daughter. Letterman joked that during Palin’s New York visit her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez during the 7th inning of a Yankees game. Sarah Palin and her family were in New York to receive an award for her support of children with disabilities. In my opinion the joke was in poor taste because it involved sex and a child. I was not overly incensed by the joke because it was made by David Lettrman who hosts a rather dull late night comedic show that has seen better days. Who really cares what Letterman says and who takes him serious? I would have been incensed if a prominent politician or media personality had made the joke but I can’t get worked up over this because it’s Letterman.

I do agree with the protestors that the children of politicians should be off limits to the media and comedians. If you don’t like a particular candidate what good does it do to attack or make fun of their children. I have a young daughter and I would be angry if someone used her for a sexual joke of any kind. Would things be different if the joke was made about one of President Obama’s daughters? Probably so.

I’m sure Letterman had no idea his joke would create such a firestorm of outrage but I know he is enjoying the increased exposure.
