Greetings! Consti here coming to you from the Secrete underground bunker Zen room where I’ve been meditating on a couple of pieces of wisdom that have been ground into my head for the past 40 years. The first piece of wisdom was imparted to me by my late grandmother. “Don’t count your chickens before they hatch.” And the other piece of wisdom comes via the Boy Scouts of America: “Be prepared.” Let me explain how these relate to the coming November elections.
“Don’t count your chickens before they hatch.”
I’ve heard a lot of chatter in the news and blogosphere about the coming conservative landslide in November. And as much as Joe Biden likes to talk about “The Republican Party is out of step with where the American people are,” and “It’s a race between Democrats and the Republican Tea Party.” It’s pretty clear that the Democratic Party has shot itself in the foot numerous times in the last 20 months. However this is not by any means the death knell of the liberal left. Oh contraire mon frair! Despite this election looking more and more like the sweep in ’94 it’s by no means the slam dunk that the chattering heads are making it out to be. Let’s not forget that the liberal left has a huge voter turnout machine thanks to the efforts of the George Soros funded groups such as ACORN, moveon.org, and a host of others. Despite conservatives and moderates being highly motivated to vote this November we cannot discount the tactics that the liberal left has used in the past. Just look at Al Franken losing the election by a couple hundred votes, but still serving as a congressman. (Stuart Smalley now sits in a chair of power thanks to his republican challenger tiring of recounts.)
In order to be successful the conservative movement will have to remember the lessons of history and the tactics that have been used against them time and time again. I have some lessons that we should keep in mind for the coming election. Courtesy of my pal Saul Alinsky.
“Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules. “ – For years the Democrats have touted the balanced budgets of the Clinton era. Yet in fiscal year 2010 they passed NO BUDGET in congress and have tripled the deficit since the Bush years. In fact it’s just recently been released that Obama’s stimulus, passed in his first month in office, will cost more than the entire Iraq War — more than $100 billion (15%) more. So really where are the Democrats living up to their own rules about balanced budgets or Pay-as-you-go? What about closing Guantanamo? And just WHOM are we fighting in Afghanistan/Iraq if we are not prosecuting a “war on terror?” This is just a couple examples on where the Democrats can be hit with this Alinsky rule. There are many more and I welcome you to post your examples in the comments below.
“Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” – Obama has played more golf in his two years in office than Bush did in eight. Obama has taken more vacations in one year than Bush did in eight while Democrats constantly derided Bush for being on vacation. However they are defending Obama’s lavish lifestyle as much needed R&R. They bashed Bush for taking five days to respond the hurricane Katrina, yet it took Obama seventy days to address BP oil spill. What was Obama’s FIRST action when the spill happened? Send in the lawyers and SWAT teams! Then there is the Ground Zero Mosque debacle that Obama stepped in like a steamy pile of dog droppings. Countless comments in praise of Islam he has made throughout his history that have led the American people to question his true faith. This despite 70% of Americans being against the building of a Mosque so close to ground zero. Again there is much more to ridicule this administration for and I welcome your suggestions in the comments below.
“The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.” – Simply ridiculing the administration will not be enough even though current sentiment is that he is out of touch with main stream America. Conservatives will have to in the same breath as the ridicule outline clearly their difference and solutions to the issues at hand. For far too long the conservatives in power have been silent in an attempt to let the Democrats implode as they have in the last 20 months. Simply letting your opponents do all the work will only take them to the tipping point. It’s time conservatives give them that little nudge to send them fully over the cliff they have created for themselves. That little nudge will be constantly drawing on the many failures of this administration and the needed actions to correct the disastrous path this country has been set upon.
“Be Prepared”
I’ve made no secret at my affiliation with this amazing organization. I’m 40 years old and I can still recite from heart the Scout Law, Scout Oath, and Scout Motto. It’s the motto that I would draw the conservative movement’s attention to.
We have seen the voter intimidation of the New Black Panther movement and I would not be surprised if you see more this November. You will also see more and more screeching about racist “tea party” members and racists against Obama. There is the case of Al Franken and the stolen Minnesota election where Al actually LOST the election by an extremely narrow margin. Only to be serving in the United States Congress currently.
When you go to the polls and protests bring your cameras. Document the opposition and your own people so you can draw attention to the “plants” among your people. You know those liberals who disguise themselves as conservatives and purposely try to portray you in a bad light. Document the intimidation, voter fraud, and actions of those who would deprive you of your basic constitutional right to vote. For those professionals running campaigns I would strongly urge you to contest each and every result over and over again just like the Democrats did until you wear them down.
And remember the greatest of my pal Saul’s rules:
Keep the pressure on!
Consti.
