Conservatives May Fall on Sword of Truth

Erik’s article did what it should and more, see The Newt Gingrich Circus.

It not only made me think, but shudder. As a conservative constitutionalist, I realize that the two party system is deeply engrained, entrenched with money and power.

Sadly, due to “The Newt Syndrome”, a Washington DC virus causing politicians from both parties to seek and keep power at all cost, a third party may be our only hope, or a way to give away any hope of unseating the Democrats.

Our only weapon against a Liberal House, Senate and Executive Branch, with the Supreme Court swaying in the balance, is truth and unwavering principles.

In the recent past our country was generally 40% conservative, 40% liberal and 20% who decided each election cycle. More recently, I’m guessing, it’s more 30%, 30% and 40% undecided. Newt and The Three Stooges (Obama, Pelosi and Reed) are obvious examples of why this is.

The Republican’s should easily garner the lion’s share of the undecided with a table turn of circumstance. An arrogant and stupid approach to both the economy and foreign relations. A whopping 44% (Drudge Report, I forget the pollster) would prefer to have Bush back. Sadly, I see little difference between Bush and Newt. Both would, to a much lesser degree than the current powers at be, grow government and ignore key parts of our Constitution. True conservatives, like many who were voted in during the great House take-over during contract with America (1994?), became cogs or were made useless within the machine.

Like Erik, more and more of us will be standing with the old ladies and young thinkers thrown from public forums and mocked in the liberal media. We will stand on Constitutional principle. Our DC Republican delegates only stood in the background, backing us with diplomatic whispers.

And that is why I fear we have already lost. I suspect a larger portion of the Republican base is sick of the same old machine, and will vote third party. If I am right, we have already lost.
You see conservatives are a different animal altogether from liberals. We stand on principle, we must or we have lost our soul. Because we must, we may lose our government.

The liberal mind only sees the end game, they stand on circumstance to get there. If someone, let’s say wants to address the Democratic Convention, and is pro-life, they are (always have been) thrown under the bus. Most agree this is unfair, but again, the end game is what counts. Let’s say they are against the public option, they are marginalized and silenced in committee. The list is the same for any platform point. They tow the machines line.

Sadly, third parties have never won, maybe they can’t.

If The Libs have their way the Constitution is about to become a historic document, changed at every whim to reflect the new socialism being shoved down our collective throats. Soon we will be part of the “World Politic”, appeasing, usurping and becoming the Orwellian vision of Big Government, Brother.

One thing could save us. One voice. A Teddy Roosevelt, a Reagan, a positive force to give real hope in reducing the machine and going back to individual innovation and power from the people, not Obama’s obscure hope where people are dependant upon the government. Circumstance guiding the country rather than principle.

I can only hope there are enough swing voters, that with such a force of positive nationalism based on constitutional principle might do what has never been done, a third party win for the true constitutionalist, or better yet, a leader who can fundamentally bring the Republican party back to the defender of the poor, rich and middle without regard to anything except the tenants on which this “Experiment in Freedom” was founded on. The right to “pursue happiness” through individual rights, responsibilities and innovation within our capitalist system.

Dems, don’t toast your kool-aid glasses to quickly, with truth, we always have hope. Somebody is out there! Consti, Erick how are you with a teleprompter? Keep your eyes open, we’ll find him (or her Laura). Someone with a Long cape, tight pants and shirt with a big R could be a good candidate.

D, quit looking for kryptonite, we haven’t found him yet my super villain friend.

Just a note, both Teddy Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan took bullets to the chest. Teddy finished his speech and Reagan was cracking jokes, asking the surgeons if they were democrats.

Consti,

I am not up to speed of how things are in Washington State, but here in NY, though Republicans are plentiful and are alive and well, conservative politicians are not only a dying breed, they are practically on life-support as a whole. The Republicans are basically no different than the Democrats fiscally or even morally. The most recent election was an absolute joke in that there were several candidates who ran under D/R/I/C (Dem, Rep, Inde, Conser). How can this be? There is one nearby township of Huntington that railroaded the Libertarian Party candidate and had a petition signed so that he could not participate as a 3rd Party choice. I am not a Libertarian, but I am all for viable political options.

Newt says some good things – possibly even some things that are accurate. But his track record overwhelmingly shows that he is not a true Conservative and is an Internationalist. He is even in favor of a Constitutional Convention – you know, a full rewritng of the document as opposed to honoring and upholding the present one. As mentioned in my article, he supported the Republican candidate here in NY despite the fact that fellow Republicans had branded her a R.I.N.O. (Republican in name only) and that she leaned left on basically every moral issue. I am not talking about conspiracies, etc. I am talking about voting records and present organization memberships.

I hope for your moniker’s sake that we will see more Conti Tution-al candidates in the years to come. In my opinion, it is the only chance our nation has to get back on track.

All,

First of all I wouldn’t take defuzzys advice for all the rice in china. For decades the left has been telling the right to play nice all the while denigrating and obfiscating the truth (alynski rules people). Anyone remember Newts comments about medicare dying on the vine being twisted? What’s needed here is someone to talk from the people for the people. Unfortunately the closest thing is (sic) Palin. God help us at that point. But you are spot on that a return to the principles of smaller government, fiscal responsibility, personal freedom, and responsibility are needed

I’m not good with a teleprompter since I tend to speak from the heart filtered by logic. Two traits that don’t serve a politician well. Additionally there are too many crazy ex’s in my past. ;-)

Don’t believe the hype they are trying to press out there. They are trying to make it sound like we are a dying breed. Truth be told it shows fear on their part that the people will show them the door. Don’t fall for it.

D,

Yes there are legal puritans, they are a fringe element on our side, just as bad as the “there is no such thing as right and wrong” on yours.

We may want to restrict abortions for example, and Obama wants unrestricted partial birth abortions, and key Czars who want infanticide for parental choice (up to one year, so far).

What i fear most is when I hear the Gov say “The one thing we will not tolerate is intolerance”. Enter Statist step #1.

Erik:
I shall check out the video.
J:
I shall check out any sources you send.
J:
I believe you really believe that the right-wing wants less government. What the right-wing wants is for government to do what the right-wing wants government to do. Many right-wingers want to play the role of the big Keepers of the Public Virtues and Morals and to carry a big stick to beat down anyone who dissents. They would replace government social workers with social policemen and women, who would place serious restrictions on people’s liberty.

Erik:
Before you jump in with — a No! You are wrong,–I know that true Libertarians want less government involvement in people’s personal lives. I am addressing the core of the right-wing movement.

What troubles me the most about the politics of the right-wing activists is their search for purity among their members and their unwillingness to work with, and to consider the opinions of others.

WOW, I was moved and given a quick refresher course that brought my sometimes scattered thoughts into focus. Thank you Erick.

DFunzy, Laura, I beg you to watch. If you’re in a hurry, you could even start at the 7 minute mark.

I strongly desire a Libs feedback, anyone? You may not learn anything new, or you may be moved substantially more towards the middle.

This video info packet should be required schooling. If you cam muster a contrary opinion, I want to hear it. If not moved, you may understand us crazy tea baggers a little better.

Hitler, Mousilini and Stalin were all Left Wingers. Nazism (Fascism) leans to the left since it represents larger, more controlling government, similar to communism and socialism (whichever “ism” you choose). People have been calling Nazis “right wingers” for years, but they are wrong.

Please. Take 29 minutes to watch this. It will be well worth it.

D,

You take all the fun out of funzy!

No back to the point at hand, are you out of your funzy mind!

Everyone you mentioned is a road sign pointing directly to Obamaville.
This goes beyond right and left (both of which would be utopian if not for power seeking egomaniacs), these sickos had one thing in common,
they were Godless Statist.

First, the State takes control of industry and the largest segments of business within a society, then creates a cradle to grave state controlled citizenry.

I have sent my friends a slip of the tongue, where one of your leaders (Maxine Waters) tells a Shell executive, the government plans to take control of all oil companies! If I can’t get it to post here, I’ll send it to your personal e-mail.

Conservatives (tea party crazies and Libertarians) want less Gov and more individual rights and responsibilities. How does Reagan’s, “less gov” have any resemblance to any of the Statist you mentioned?

Who they resemble is Obama, Chavez and Putin.

Giving you the benefit of doubt as to being an evil villain, just remember the road the hell is paved with good intentions.

J:
I am not here to defend the Newt. Just to point out that political cannibalism makes good entertainment for some, but makes for bad politics for all. The Washington Post has an article on their web site (link) about the infighting in the GOP, and details how one vote has led a state legislator to fall from the grace of his once zealot supporters.
Among the right-wingers now hating him is his activist mother-in-law!

I wasn’t going to comment on your article. I can hear your pain. The Newt, one of your heroes, has fallen from your — Well he no longer enjoys your grace. You are overcome with grief and you are ready to throw yourself off the roof. I do not want to add to your misery, but forgive me for pointing out, once more, an important difference between a conservative and a right-winger. A conservative, who is out of power, takes seriously his responsibilities, by behaving in a responsible manner. A right-winger takes himself too seriously and, if he is not in power, behaves as if he has no responsibilities. Hold on, I know you are about to do a Joe Wilson and shout “You lie!” — Stop and take a sip of tea. Please, good old plain Lipton tea. I don’t know what your Tea Partiers friends have been drinking, that has such a crazy effect on their thinking. But brother, stay off what ever it is that they are drinking.

The responsibility of a conservative politician is to participate in politics and government, and to build coalitions to achieve their core goals. Right-wingers fly as loners or in small homogeneous packs. Historically, when right-wingers achieve power, it is following a serious national crisis and a series of disasters, which they helped produced. Their “purist” style of governance create more disasters. Examples, Moussilin, and Hilter, and Stalin, and Moa.

I hear you screaming, brother! That that foul, felonious, gang of four were not right-wingers!

Moussilin? Few would dispute that he was a right-winger. Hilter? The German Nazi party, the so-called “national socialism” party of Germany, was an ideologically pure party that governed without coalitions, and the leaders of the Nazi party were right-wingers.

Stalin? The Bolsheviks, the Russian communists who overthrew the Russian state in World War 1, were all on the left. But by the time Stalin consolidated his power, most of those old comrades of his, were dead, or were locked up, or were running for their lives. Stalin governed the Soviet Union from the right. Moa in China followed Stalin’s example.

Franco of Spain, Saddam Hussein, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, his pal Mahmoud Ahmadinejad , Bin Laden — all right-wingers! Bin Laden? Check out his ideas for governance.

Right-wingers close their minds to ideas and when they come to power, they gather in their “purist” hands all of the powers of the state and persecute those with ideas different from their own.

Here, my blogging brother, we discuss politics. We are in a country with a free and open marketplace of ideas, where ideas are exchanged, where the best ideas rise and the bad ones fall. Our country has no established church of ideas, where dogma rules and there is no exchange, where either one accepts the dogma or is treated worse than a rabid dog, is treated like an alien man with no pa and no ma.

Peace, my blogging brother.

Gee whiz! What was in that coffee J Byron? When you told me you were going to get back to me, you weren’t kidding!

I believe that many Conservatives – Christian and non-Christian alike – have taken a lot for granted in the past. However, I can’t help but to wonder if this current era of piqued political interest has changed all of that. I have spoken to several people who have been in politics for decades who have told me that they have not seen a political atmosphere like this in a very long time, if ever. People are seeing their rights stripped from them before their eyes and they are beginning to realize that Ben Franklin’s words may be true: It is easier to keep our freedoms than it is to regain them (grossly paraphrased). Don’t underestimate many Democrats either. Though there will undoubtedly be tons of people in each Party who will blindly follow the blind, the masses of the disgruntled is growing daily. I think that a 3rd Party candidate could be just what this nation needs – a candidate who will be a viable option for the choices that have seemingly been crammed down our throats.

I don’t know if we have lost yet or not. I know that Republicanism in NY has lost most of its conservative principles. But there seems to be a resurgence of conservatism – or at least of conservative people who have chosen to rise to the occasion and speak out – across the nation as a whole, as evidenced by the revolts over the summer. Though your article has a somber tone, it is good news to me due to the fact that you are not alone in your lamenting. For every one person who puts a complaint in letter form (statistics I have discovered while submitting letters to my Congresspeople and Senators) there are thousands more who are sympathetic. Our job for the next two plus years is to wake up as many people as possible and get them politically involved so that we can salvage what we have left and that the Constitution will remain unmarred.

Good job. And it is good to see your passion on the matter.
