Conservatives are riled up over President Obama’s Back-to-School speech that he delivered with kids in mind. In his speech, he emphasizes staying in school, thinking critically, respecting teachers and other adults as well as taking advantage of getting a good education. He says you can’t drop out of school and into a good job.
He stresses the points of getting a good education. It’s being left up to the discretion of the principals and educators if they want to let their students see the Back-to-School
address or not.
Jim Greer, chairman of the Republican Party of Florida, raged that “Pied Piper Obama” was going “into the American classroom” to spread socialist ideology. Not likely, children today are very in tuned to the goings on in the world. They read newspapers and watch the news on television. It shows them they can be responsible for the choices they make in life and to be informed. Current events, social studies and government are integral parts of school curriculum.

So when Bush senior gave his address to schools he was accused of the same thing as Obama. In fact a Democratically controlled congress held hearings. Will they do the same for Obama? bush was even cleared in those congretional investigations. I belive his speach is well meant and other than the botched lesson plan should happen. Nothing is better than the President to tell kids stay in school. But I’m also for fair is fair so Obama should face the same investigations.
