There
is a term that is commonly used among liberals. It is predictably taken out of its envelope every time a subject unfavorable to them picks up steam or carries weight over time. That term is:
“So-called.”
A few years ago it was used as a medical term. Remember “so-called” partial birth abortion? Though it was an issue that transcended the Roe v Wade argument and was simply deemed taboo, many felt the need to disqualify it from conversation just in case it would damage the Pro-Choice cause, despite the fact that most avid abortion supporters would grimace at the thought of the procedure. We also hear it used when talking about Sarah Palin’s “so-called Death Panels” and there was even a television show called “My So Called Life” in the nineties. The main purpose of keeping this term in a person’s arsenal is because it is effective in watering down the topic in which it describes so as to weaken its intended purpose.
Since the term has been so comfortably used by The Left as an attempt to invalidate a cause, they run to it as often as they need to. Particularly when they are getting creamed when the real issues are placed on the table. The latest is the “so-called Birther Movement”. The strangest part of this whole thing is that Mr. Obama could have stopped the downhill snowball way back during the campaign. After all, Senator McCain, who was challenged about the same thing (likely out of vengeance from liberals who responded to the Obama allegation), came up with his legitimate birth certificate almost immediately. However, there are still questions about where Barack Obama was born to this day. And all he would need to do stop this “so-called debate” is to present the document to the public. I want this to go away as much as the next guy, but when I hear someone say “Let’s move onto something more important!”, that is when I stop in my tracks and think “What could be more important than the President violating the rules of the Presidency before he even gets out of the gate?”
The writing on the wall was already becoming clear to me before the election that if Obama wasn’t willing to come clean on a very basic principle, that it could only spell trouble after he was sworn in. I am not going so far as to say that I believe that he was not born here. Well, that’s how I felt at first anyway, that he was surely a legitimate citizen and if he wasn’t, it would certainly be detected. But each time the challengers send a new shockwave of echoes crying “prove you’re a citizen” throughout the nation, only to be totally ignored by the President and verbally manhandled by The Left, my suspicions grow larger.
I’ll give the President credit for one thing: he has wasted no time in implementing his plans for America. However, each move he makes only further galvanizes the naysayers by proving to them that the Founding Fathers’ ambitions are apparently irrelevant to this Administration. And that each move they make further suggests that he is only a “so-called President“.
