Another teachable moment courtesy of dumb luck

by Consti Tution on May 5, 2010

Consti here with two of the most stupid comments I have heard about the terrorist attack in Times Square yet. The attempts to spin this latest threat for political gain I find not only disgraceful, but down right ignorant. Dare I say deceitful?

“We’re tough on terrorists. That’s our policy. That’s our performance. And, in fact, we’ve been more successful,” House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said at his weekly press availability.

Really? So Fort Hood was a success? Despite several red flags being raised about the shooter and the loss of 13 lives? How about the underwear bomber who made it onto a plane Christmas day? The only reason he was stopped was due to his explosive underwear malfunctioning and a citizen subduing him. A common occurrence for men on most intercontinental flights I understand. Much like the SUV in Times Square didn’t function properly.  Our policy has been one of appeasement not tough on terrorists. If you need proof of that just look at the Obama tour of the Middle East and the speech he gave in Cairo.

The second most stupid statement came from Mayor Bloomberg when he stated: “somebody with a political agenda who doesn’t like the health care bill or something. It could be anything.” Do you think he meant to say Tea Party activist? Now of course it has been found out that the bomber was an American Pakistani and Bloomberg is worried about “reprisals” against the Muslim community in New York. Never mind that the bomb was parked outside of the Lion King Broadway production where children would be attending and set to go off at the start of the matinee. Let me repeat that for you so it can sink in. This attack was designed to KILL CHILDREN AND FAMILIES! Or the fact that the man now in custody has ties to the subway bomber from Colorado. Or that he spent 5 months in a Pakistani terrorist training camp prior to returning to the U.S. I’ve even heard some trying to make the excuse that the stress from his foreclosure might be the cause. Imagine the stress on him and his family because of those evil banks! A family that lives in Pakistan I will add.

No kids the only thing that has kept us safe has been dumb luck.

The SUV bomb didn’t go off because the bomber made two fatal mistakes. First he couldn’t set the timer on the bomb properly. We don’t use a 24 hour time period for our clocks here in the U.S. unlike Europe. As a result the bomb was set to go off 12 hours later. Second he bought the wrong type of fertilizer. There were 80 cameras in the vicinity of the SUV bomb. NOT ONE CAUGHT A GLIMPSE OF THE SUV BOMBER! Despite that fact the Police Chief of N.Y. says they NEED MORE! The only video of the vehicle was it turning a corner. Nothing that would or did raise suspicion.

“But Consti in both cases the authorities thwarted the plot!” No kids that is an incorrect answer. Mother government didn’t do squat. In both cases it was vigilant citizens who saved the day. While Obama is praising the response of the police, FBI, and his administration he should remember that the only thing to save his bacon was a citizen. You know that wacky, right-wing, tea party, terrorists that invaded town halls last summer. The only reason the SUV bomber didn’t make it out of the country is due to the Emirate airline flagging him as suspicious for buying a one way ticket for cash on his way to the airport. The authorities were tailing him, but until the airline made the call they had no idea where he was headed. They even lost him for 3 hours at the airport! The only reason the Christmas day bombing didn’t happen is because citizens tackled and restrained the bomber.

People ask me: “Consti how can you have such faith in the greedy America public that deserves what it gets?” The simple answer is that citizens have foiled terrorist attacks better than the Federal Government. Simple down to earth everyday citizens doing the right thing every day. And there are more of those than many would have you believe. So when your elected officials start talking about lone nuts and people who are angry at government just remember the lesson of a simple t-shirt vendor.

Ft Hood, the underwear bomber, the SUV bomber, the subway bomber, etc. Yeah Obama has made it SO much safer than the one Shoe Bomber Bush let slip through. While the administration concocts plots by militia members who talk out their posteriors the REAL threat to this country got his naturalized citizenship a year ago. And registered Democrat! Makes complaints about the law in Arizona seem trivial now doesn’t it? Now this is an evolving investigation I’ll grant you. However based on the preliminary information this is a complete failure of the system. But Janet Napolitano would have you believe otherwise.

If you believe that this administration has made this country safer then I have a bridge in Brooklyn I want to sell you.

Consti.

JF,

I really do dread a response to you. If your latest retort were typical, the subject would have never been broached.

I referenced you as a child with Communist leanings. I don’t think I’m the type to make thoughtless comments “using” retarded children.

JF, I got specific on you because Silver would not, and I don’t believe he was referring to anyone but you, and primarily due to your comment just prior to his. Re-read it, it’s really out of place, assuming this place is one of discourse.

You point of view is welcome, your “sometimes” inhumanity is not.

Think of this as a place of writers, thinkers and political focus. Wit, insults, the occasional mud throwing all expected, even encouraged. The comments made just prior to Silverwuns are poli-sci porn. The ol I know obscenity when I see it. I’m no judge, just another blogger putting his 2 cents in to be taken or left.

When someone gets in my face I fight back. I’ve been in some campaigns that have been as nasty as a knife fight in a telephone booth. I’ve had the opposition send gangbangers to hang out in front of our campaign offices to try to intimidate us, had campaign fliers that looked like a police report distributed to try to discredit one of our candidates. I’ve had people staked out outside our campaign office to photograph the police officers, firefighter and city workers supporting us so they could be targeted to be fired if the incumbents stayed in office. I’ve even had cops loyal to the opposition raid one of our campaign offices without a warrant. I’ve even talked to one guy who had his garage burned down by guys from another campaign.

Yes, in a political fight I have a big mean streak and a nasty disposition. I’ve been called, a sissy, a twit, a nitwit, a thug, a communist / Marxist, referred to as “dough boy” by your friend with no name in the shadows, and compared to a mentally challenged child by both YOU and your no name buddy. (real high class on that one by the way) And you say I am the only one who crosses the line. SERIOUSLY!! When you compare someone to a mentally challenged child, maybe you didn’t use a four letter word but you sure as hell aren’t clean.

“For the rest of us who don’t wear a protective helmet to school…”

“Take a crayon out and note some common sense (knowing your fondness for red, remember, a red crayon used on red construction paper will not be useful for future reference without great difficulty).”

Don’t give me some BS about you being clean. If I’m in the gutter you happily jumped right in there with me. If that was said to me in person I would curse that person up one side of the street and down the other, and any other man would too. You call me disgusting after making a mental retardation reference about me. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black! You call me a bully and a disgrace? If I am, JOIN THE CLUB. You two were giving just as good as you got.

Trust me boys, this is politics. Opposition research is as much about finding dirt on your opponent as it is about informing you campaign. Strategy meetings are as much about how to hit your opposition as it is how to craft your message. This is the inside of every campaign, not just those evil big city democratic ones, ALL OF THEM. Stick to your myopic commentary and hypocritical casting of me as a thug while engaging me at the same level. Neither of you has the steel in your spine for a real campaign. And if you think politics is about the polite discourse you’re looking for, you’re both naive at best.

Silver,

As always, a timely and wonderfully vivid comment.

As there is no other place to respond to your point, I’ll continue to skew from the point of this article.

As a man of courtesy and discretion, you showed restraint from mentioning specific offenders. I for one appreciate the call to proper engagement, but I would disagree with the non-specific broad brush approach, only because people like me (due to very harsh upbringing and perhaps bad self image) start questioning remarks made.

I want to say, as far as I am concerned, I respect and care about “everybody” who participates on our obscure corner of the world.
I also “feel” that the only commenter who crosses the line from passionate or even aggressive defender to belligerent and disgusting is JFESTA.

JF, you claim passion, a winners heart, you show very poor judgment and gutter wit. Hardly fitting for public discourse, assuming we are not in a ghetto bar. Even so, I would think when you woke up and were told what you said, you’d feel a certain amount of shame. You JF are a bully and a disgrace to your political views.

This name calling business is really offensive and unbecoming a site created for respectful expression of ideas. A forum section ancillary to this site would be a good place for this refuse to be strewn, if one existed.

Since it doesn’t, visiting this place is a bit like calling on a disturbed relative who lives in a trailer without screens to keep flies away from the dirty dishes piled in the sink and trying to be comfortable.

If this was my site, the list of bloggers would be much shorter.

Dough boy,

Here is where you make your error. Constitutional RIGHTS do not apply but obeying the laws of the host country does. If you had ever traveled out of the country you would know that nitwit. Why do you think an American girl was tried in Italy for the murder of her room-mate? She’s not a citizen there, yet she is tried under their laws. It’s a simple concept and I am surprised you never learned it in school. But then again it’s Chicago… I was partially educated there so I can kind of understand.

You think I am contradicting myself, but in reality you are showing your complete lack of understanding of our immigration laws. Again since you have never been there your pasty loud-mouth kiester wouldn’t last two heart beats in south Phoenix. You have no idea. You would go into a store for a coke and walk out with your little Toyota stripped to it’s frame. Hell even Mexico imprisons it’s illegal immigrants and makes it a requirement for all cops there to ask: “Papers please!” Why in an “all inclusive world order” like you want should we not do the same?

Here endith the lesson.

For the rest of us…

I’ve provided a link to the free pocket constitution in the comments below. You can also find it online for free. I encourage everyone to read it. And like shampoo wash, rinse, repeat.

That’s exactly the point. These people can be tried specifically because the constitutional process for the application of justice applies. You just disproved your own point that the Constitution does not apply to illegals. When a crime is committed on U.S. Soil the constitution, and its protections apply to all parties. Once justice is served on that charge, the person is subject to a deportation hearing. Thanks for proving my point and yourself wrong.

You obviously don’t know much about immigration laws. In your little fantasy scenario the U.S. can try and imprison the killer. When time is served his can is shipped back to his home country. Are you really that ignorant of our nations laws?

J,
Let’s assume you’re right for a moment. As with most conservatives that a pretty damn big if in and of itself. Let’s say that someone here illegally is caught by the police exiting a store where he has just committees a robbery and killed a store clerk.

If we follow your “logic” all we would be able to do is send this man to the border and hand him over to Mexican authorities who would only send him back to his place of residence because he has committed no crime in their jurisdiction. Because of your logic arrest and interrogation by the police, as well as trial in a court of law CAN NOT take place. Before anyone is interrogated for the purposes of bringing those statements as evidence in a court of law they must be advised of their Miranda rights, their rights to legal counsel, to not make incrimination statements about themselves, and that any statements they do make can be used against them. According to you none of those rights exist for this person and thus no good evidence under our system may be collected in interrogation.

Once charges are brought he again has the right to legal counsel. He has the right to a writ of Habeas Corpus, to face his accuser, to bring witnesses and evidence in his defense and to see the evidence against him. All of this must happen before a just sentence in prison may be brought under our system. Once sentenced, he may appeal to every court where there is an argument to be made. But according to you, none of that may happen, unless you wish courts inside the United States to now issue sentences confining people to jail with no trial and no means to question evidence and face an accuser.

Under your “logic” there could not even be a deportation hearing. Persons picked up for being here illegally would be deported without question. Under this system those here illegally are entitled to a hearing before a federal judge or magistrate. They may have council with them if they wish. They may petition the presiding officer for a sentence of a fine and court monitored steps be paying that fine and obtaining legal status in this country based on their conduct while here. This is done hundreds if not thousands of times a week and we call it due process, because unlike many other countries when someone is accused under our laws they get the protections granted under those laws until a just sentence is reached.

You question my intelligence, and I question yours. You question my honor and integrity and I question yours. You call me a liberal and progressive as an insult. I wear them with pride. I will gladly bend over backwards to insure that the rights and protections of the constitution are followed for the very worst offenders, legal and non legal. I would do this because when the innocent man in accused, when those in law enforcement or elected office over reach I want to be sure those rights and protections are ironclad. This is an all or nothing deal. Those rights either apply to all who are charged under the law or they apply to no one. Once we start saying they apply only to some and not to other it will only be a short time before they apply to none.

For the rest of us…

This thread has really gotten off topic. And I apologize for letting myself get distracted by an immigration debate when the topic is the failure of the administration to stem terrorism.

My article started out with two of the stupidest comments I had heard about the attempt. I would like for you to entertain a 3rd stupid comment. I encourage you to watch the video at the link below.

“In his first Sunday morning interview, Attorney General Eric Holder revealed that the Pakistani Taliban was behind Faisal Shahzad’s attempted bombing of Times Square last week.
“We’ve now developed evidence that shows that the Pakistani Taliban was behind the attack,” Holder said on “This Week.”
“We know that they helped facilitate it. We know that they probably helped finance it. And that he was working at their direction.””

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2010/05/holder-pakistani-taliban-behind-times-square-attack.html

Gee Holder what was your first guess? The fact that he made 13 trips there and was there as recently as a few months ago? I mean he didn’t fit a profile or anything did he? Keep in mind kids this is the attorney general that let the new black panthers off the hook for voter intimidation. Who wants to try enemy combatants in N.Y.

JFesta,

I like many others have been following the discussion initiated by my friend Consti. While I have lost count of the many times you have berated him for not using his name, you fail to see the source of his passion, and lamely attempt to school who should be your teacher in the constitution, typical.

Regarding your lack of understanding of the “basics”, please read said document paying particular attention to the first seven words…..

“We The People of The United States……..” Note the exclusionary principle, this does not include everyone one in the world who “against OUR law illegally puts a foot over the border.

Take a crayon out and note some common sense (knowing your fondness for red, remember, a red crayon used on red construction paper will not be useful for future reference without great difficulty).

Further on, …”secure the blessing of liberty TO OUSELVES”, note again the exclusionary emphasis clearly indicating citizenry, not way farers.

More for instance, move to the Bill of Rights. The 5th relates to crimes….
..”unless in military …or service…in time of war…” and “…Property taken without due process…” Illegal aliens simply cannot fit the context of application.

Look at the 2nd…”reserved to the states or the people regarding militia and arms…” not foreign mercenaries, this regards exclusivity to the citizenry.

Regarding property rights, a contract for property, whether owned or retained cannot be legal for an illegal, simply because an illegal has violated a law that causes further contracts that could otherwise be valid to be void.

And that brings me to my original point. The rights you would include for the illegal is void based on the initial lack of inclusion through legal standing. Like da.

JFesta May 9, 2010 at 1:22 am

If you had actually read the Constitution you would know that citizenship is applies as a qualifier only to those seeking office. The civil rights it grants, specifically those spelled out in the Bill of Rights, and spelled out in Miranda are granted to the people. The word Citizen is never used in spelling out rights. Even those here illegally have the right to legal council, which is provided, and a hearing before a judge, giving them due process of law. Those rights are granted to everyone accused under the law, EVERYONE! Being a citizen has never been a qualifier for those rights.

Nice try though. Maybe once you’ve mastered reading comprehension and stop believing your own line of crap you’ll understand what that document stands for.

Don’t try to wrap yourself up in the self righteous belief that you are for civil rights. When you want to “win at ANY cost” and are willing to commit the violence that comes with it. What a laugh! What hypocrisy! And since you know so much about the constitution you should know that it only applies to CITIZENS! Not illegal’s you nitwit. A for effort though. I know you thought long and hard on that one. I’ll give you credit for that. And you did it all by yourself! Good for you!

For the rest of us who don’t wear a protective helmet to school…

Making excuses for people who break the law is not making things “fair.” And try as he might what Dough boy doesn’t realize is that 60% of the NATION is for this law. So no matter how loud he shouts or how foul his mouth gets that won’t change. Unless they give illegal’s amnesty and register them all democrats which is what this is REALLY about.

Erik,

Every now and then you are right, and your take on the Massachusetts Senate race is. The problem for the tea party is the same one that every third party has. They start with great energy and enthusiasm, but can’t find a way to translate that into and infrastructure of coordinated volunteers and fundraising. They have also been co-opted by mainstream GOP forces that saw the tea parties as a tool for their gains. If they could translate their energy into a nationwide network of coordinated volunteers and a regular group of donors with a good fundraising structure, they could actually log some wins for people who share their views. Rubio in Florida looks like their best chance, but with Christ running as an independent this will pull votes away from him.

“Well, for starters, I know that Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, is from the Declaration of Independence, not the Constitution. What our founding fathers deemed important enough to list as the reasons for writing a constitution; Justice, Domestic Tranquility, Defense, promoting the general welfare, and securing the blessings of liberty. In case you were wondering securing the blessings of liberty means that all have rights and should have them protected. The made sure to included the rights of the accused and spell out that those rights extend to all under the law.”
“The only way this system works is if we look out for the rights of all people, not just the ones we thing deserve it. If you all truly want this system of government to keep working then you have to be willing to stand up for the civil liberties of everyone, from those here illegally, to those who have committed crimes against children, to those wrongly accused. You don’t get to pick and choose who has rights and who doesn’t.”
“My concern is that everyone is equal under the law. When a murder is committed the police investigate and when the person or persons guilty are convicted they face justice under the law. When a police officer is shot, or god forbid killed in the line of duty, his brother and sister officers use any and all legal means to bring that person to justice.”
“My concern is simple. The law is the law. When you break it, you pay the price for it. But arresting natural born citizens because they LOOK like they are here illegally is a worse offence than being here illegally. It is a violation of the civil rights and liberties granted to all Americans and the slippery slope to the revocation of all civil liberties in the name of safety and security.”

See all those right there, all those words strung together in a particular order. Those are called sentences. Sentences answering that stupid baiting question you keep repeating like some overzealous high school freshman who thinks he can score some points in a debate. I have given you an answer multiple times. Choosing to ignore it and ask again and again is just pathetic. READ YOU DUMB BASTURD, READ!

Erick,

Don’t be distracted by dough boys comments. He stated that no tea-party candidate has succeeded. Which is factually incorrect. Brown did. Now I feel you on Brown. Like Obama he pulled the wool over their eyes pretty fast here in taxachussetts. He has absolutely shown his colors as a run of the mill politician. There is that old problem of “the lesser of two evils” with him. The problem with third party candidates now will be the one’s like in Florida. They proclaim to be independent but are actually republicans in patriots clothing. The voting public in my opinion can’t be held responsible for a person being a front. Deception after all is a means to power.

As for his delusion about the democratic candidate that’s just laughable. The party thought it would be a slam dunk. It WAS A KENNEDY SEAT AFTER ALL. Which made it a Democratic seat. Well that didn’t sit well with the people of this state. It’s the people’s seat not Kennedy. Ironic his predecessor would be a Republican. Right or wrong Brown was a wake up call to the White House that their party was not as safely ensconced as they thought.

Silverwun,

If you don’t want to answer this question I understand. Policy and all… But do you work at Perryville(?) or that other facility? I’d like to shake your hand some day if you work tent city. I’ve know some people (friends of friends) who work inside and heard stories. My grandmother was a nurse at perryville for many years and an ex supervisor of mine was a Maricopa county Sheriffs officer. In that state the environment you are in is like Satan’s skid marked shorts. My hat goes off to you sir.

I say this with my tongue glued to the inside of my cheek, but I actually agree with JFesta about Scott Brown and I was saying it even before the January elections. Massachusetts Tea Partiers had a chance to put their money where their mouths were and vote for 3rd Party candidate Joe Kennedy for Senate. Sure, Kennedy would have lost and so would have Brown. But it would have been an opportunity to show the nation that they were willing to stand for their declared (now, so-called) convictions and the remainder of the people around the country who gave grown sick and tired of the two major parties would have quite possibly been galvanized as a result. Instead, we have a bunch of wimps who got absorbed by party politics again and were wooed by a man who has proven to be yet another big-government, more-of-the-same-politician for the sake of a possible ObamaCare filibuster. I had given him 30 days to show his true colors. Yet it took him less than 24 hours.

I’m an Arizona resident and the untold part of our story is that with 70% enthusiastic support here for the bill, it would never have emerged as law without the support of many of our Latino citizens.
In case some of you have never been to Arizona, our LEGAL population is a very high percentage Latino. Many of them are not showing up in public because of the intimidating behaviors and tendency to violence by anti-bill thugs who can be vicious with people they consider to be their own for having the audacity voice their own opinions. It was no different for whites in the South during the Civil Rights Movement who were treated worse by the Klan and anti-movement racists. It is also no different for people with African ancestry who are roughed up by SEIU thugs and the like for having the nerve to exercise THEIR free speech rights publicly.
Tyranny and brutality and name spewing is all there is at hand for ignorant, automata who act out of REAL political and racist fears.

So, you have no job security, no paid sick leave, no paid vacation time, no health insurance, and you’re laughing at me? You’re right, only a crazy socialist union thug would want things like that.

Scott Brown, really? Scott Brown who won over probably the WORST Democratic candidate I’ve ever seen. If Jesus Christ himself had come down and personally endorsed the Democrat in that race she still would have lost. She was just that clueless.

Perhaps you missed where Scott Brown has staked out a position as a relative moderate, being the first in a now growing line of Republican Senators to break with the monolith of NO and vote with Democrats. So much for the darling of the tea party.

If you had actually read what I wrote, I know its tough for you, you see what you want, you would have seen I said Republicans ratings had plummeted among HISPANICS. A very large and increasingly active voting group that could put both Arizona and Texas in play in the next several elections for Democrats. that coupled with already Democratic New Mexico, could mean a Republican loss of the Southwest. Like you say, there is this thing called Google, might want to try it sometime.

Sometimes you guys just make this way to easy.

HAHAHAHA!

I’m a contract worker. I don’t get ANY paid holidays, vacations, sick leave, or job security even if healthy. Sometimes I don’t even get healthcare through my contract. And I work in the IT sector making good money. So will you quit the Union? I doubt it. It’s too cushy a job you sissy. Just take a look at what unions have done to Greece today. See our future tomorrow. So yeah I’ll “deal” since it’s a safe bet.

Every tea party endorsed candidate has failed? Hello! Obviously you missed the memo on Brown in Massachusetts. Get your facts straight. Talk about taking away a “Kennedy’s seat” wow!

As for republicans polling low in the south west that’s a laugh. A recent report found that 60% of the COUNTRY agreed with the AZ law. Again… there is this neat little thing called Google. Learn it, live it, love it.

For the rest of us…

Obama’s election was heralded as an end to racisms in this country. Yet all the president talks about today is the separations of classes and races. Have you heard him seriously off teleprompter say that it was time for the people of this country to come together as Americans? No. He has gone out and made comments about Las Vegas and Arizona. He has mischaracterized this law, and flat out been wrong about it. Frightening people with mythical stories of getting deported for buying ice cream. Yet the “great uniter” spends his time trying to divide the public on everything from healthcare to immigration. From wall street to main street. This is “Hope and change”?

Reminds me of the old west movies where the gun fighter would come into town. He would play both sides against the other. Just to walk off with all the gold in the end trailed by bodies. But this isn’t a spaghetti western, and Obama sure isn’t Clint Eastwood.

You manipulate me? That is good. I needed a good laugh this morning. As for me being in fear, lets see; every radical conservative, tea party endorsed candidate has lost in spectacular fashion to mainstream republican candidates. Now that Charlie Chirst has ditched the GOP he’s polling ahead of Marco Rubio and will likely win that race or split the vote giving the Democrat the win. Thanks to that Arizona law, Republicans in the southwest are now polling in the single digits among the rather quickly growing Hispanic population, meaning that Arizona, New Mexico and Texas could all be in play in the next several elections.

Yeah, I’m in fear of losing.

As for your par for the coarse Union bashing. If you’re willing to give up paid vacations, paid sick leave, the 40 hr work week, and job security so you can’t be fired if you get sick or injured, I’ll give up unions. Deal?

You’ll notice that for all his bluster he never answered the question of who’s rights were more important. Murdered American citizens or the illegal’s that kill them. That should be a telling remark no? For all his complaints about hateful tea-party activists he aspires to be no more than what he condemns.

Dough boy is in fear.

Yep! Fear his party is going to loose. Fear that people of differing opinion might actually win. Because of his “win at any cost” mentality the thought of loosing scares the little girl out of him. Hence he lowers himself to the argument of the mentally challenged. Cursing.

For the rest of the readers….

This is not political speech. This is the attempt to silence it and infringe on your first amendment rights. Typical union tactic. Shout them into silence, or pound them into submission. The reason people like Dough boy are scared is that there are more real Americans today that care about what’s going on then there were when the Unions “maneuvered” elections to their favor. In simple words that even people like him can understand. Your tactics no longer work because everyone else has awoken to them. Your played out rhetoric doesn’t mesh with reality today. Instead of trying to run the campaign from the 70′s try 2010. It’s ok to have differing opinions. When you act in violence because of them though you are no better then Dough boy, the KKK, anarchists, etc…

JFesta, all that can be accomplished without ever resorting to gutter language. It’s called “maneuvering” (a word that you used, though I’m not really sure you understand it’s implications) and it’s most effective when done subtly. The best leaders are rarely argumentative, rather they maneuver situations and circumstances until the very people they’re attempting to manipulate believe that his original suggestions are really their own ideas and readily go along with the plan du jour.

I can’t believe you enjoy the view from your level. It’s degrading and disgusting. Sometimes, however, I have learned that you have to speak in whatever language the other person will understand. I think everyone on this site knows that, since you dwell in the gutter, that is the ONLY language you understand.

‘….if you confined yourself to church and clubs for old women.’

I liked that part. It’s juicy, politically incorrect and reveals a typically ‘progressive’ underbelly of self-license.

Anybody have a cheap recipe for mud?

Welcome to my level, hope you enjoy the view. You guys make this way to easy. Stick to just commenting on politics and not actually participating in it. If this is all it takes prod you a response that makes you look just like me you’d last about 5 minutes with the real pros.

This is the nature of politics, poking prodding and maneuvering your opponent into the position you want him in that is most advantageous to you. The actual discourse and dialogue between opposing views, that’s governing. The posturing and maneuvering, the partisan statements, jabs and theatrics, that’s all politics. And all of you bite on it every single time and follow right along.

I’m sorry you have no better argument than that. Trust me, I can curse at least equally as well as you and, when the situation calls for it, will not hesitate to do so. Political discourse is not one of those situations. Facing down a convict w/ a knife who is in the process of stabbing another convict is. If I have to tell him, “Drop the fu–ing knife, mother fu–er, and get your ass on the ground!”, then he understands exactly what I’m saying and, with the riot baton in my hands, exactly what I’ll do should he choose to disobey the order.

Were I truly a “Pompous holier than thou twit”, I would probably have chosen a different line of work. I truly do “occupy the real world where adults use cursing to express rage, frustration, and dissatisfaction.” The place I work is proof of that. What angers me is that while I expect it from those sociopaths and borderline personalities in the cellhouse, they don’t generally speak to me in the manner to which I’ve become accustomed on here simply because I’m in disagreement with them on whatever is the topic of the day.

The world in which I live for 40 hrs+ every week is one in which you would last about 3 days before someone beat all the white off your ass just to show you that you’re not really all that.

So, you arrogant, self-righteous, ego-maniacal bastard – why don’t you just crawl right back into whatever Chicago sewer you came from. You haven’t, as yet, quite reached the top of your evolutionary chain

Ben,

I am so sorry I offend your delicate ears and sensibilities. Most liberals like me are so evil and hate filled, we can’t help but use those nasty curse words. It’s just part of being a member, comes right after selling your soul to the devil and pledging allegiance to the U.N. the Main Stream Media and Planned Parenthood.

Perhaps you would have better luck avoiding those nasty offensive curse words if you confined yourself to church and clubs for old women. Meanwhile the rest of us will occupy the real world where adults use cursing to express rage, frustration, and dissatisfaction. You might also save your opinion of my character and intellect for someone who ranks you as more that a petty nuisance.

Pompous holier than thou twit.

Silverwun,

I see your point on the cosmic implications of dumb luck.

However I’m a Boy Scout through and through. And the motto of course is “Be prepared”. Maybe I’m just old fashioned that way but it’s served me well for many, many years.

This is a failure of the system, a failure of our government to perform it’s most important constitutional duty. Protecting the citizenry. Someone mentioned the DC sniper in the comments. Even HE was caught thanks to a good citizen not good police work.

The sad fact is that the police are a reactionary force. Your personal safety is your responsibility. Many people who are in the nanny-state group however don’t subscribe to that. That’s why they don’t mention that fact that in neighborhoods where gun ownership is high crime is low. While ABC news is doing stories about the immigration agents that grabbed the SUV twit how many times have you seen the t-shirt vendor that is the real hero in the news?

Everybody has at least some luck. It takes special status to have ‘dumb luck.’ That’s why it is called dumb. There is also a healthy following. Maybe cosmic criteria for eligibility for ‘dumb luck’ are quantitatively determined.
Given the thick, mentally scotch-guarded preponderance of stupidity prevailing these days, maybe ‘dumb luck’ actually IS a sound way to deal with national security. If you count Ft. Hood, the Christmas boob, and the Times Square moron, the ‘pretending that our enemies aren’t who they are’ score board is: DUMB LUCK 2 LATE WAKE-UP 1

Snooze away. Take comfort in the probability that the first simultaneous attack on Obama’s watch is certain to have at least one botched attempt in the mix. He’ll find somebody else to blame for the damages achieved by the rest. Besides reading like he’s watching a tennis match, passing the blame is the one and only thing for which the Teleprompter Clown has shown any talent.

Dough boy,

As usual another riviting arguement on your behalf. Like most who can’t argue facts you retreat to incivility. Making excuses for terrorists seems to fit you. Oh, and by the way did you spend a whole 3$ on that word? I’m not against immigration, I’m against ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION you twit.

For the rest of the readers…

More intolerant hate speach comming from the left kids. Expect more of it as November nears. Expect to see more little old ladies refered to as “righ-wing nuts” by people like Dough boy here. Expect anyone who speaks out against this administration to be called un-american, anti-governemnt, terrorists, etc, etc, etc… Simply so they can attempt to silence your voice and first ammendment rights.

Don’t let them.

Dough boy,

you also fail to mention that he had been on a out bound no fly list for over 24 hours AND STILL BOARDED A PLANE! And the “amateur” evaded his tail for 90 minutes. The plane PULLED AWAY and had to be brought back. On and on and on failure after failure.

Failure 100% The system failed. And since Bush isn’t president there is only one man to blame. The commander and chief. The man ultimately responsible for the safety of this nation. The buck stops at the top pal weather you like it or not.

But again. Thank you for your incoherent rant. I encourage you to continue to comment.

Dough boy,

You can make excuses all you like for terrorists. The fact of the matter is this attack was aimed at killing children and families. It was PURE DUMB LUCK that he was caught.

He was taken off the watch list years later. Only after marrying and becomming a naturalized citizen. If you are going to tell truth’s tell whole truths for a change.

Once again, are you even able to read? He was on a watch list for bringing in money and cash instruments, i.e. stocks bonds bearer bonds etc. he was suspected of violation Federal Financial regulations governing how much money and money instruments a person may carry into the country. He would have been searched on the way back in, not out. And, the TECS list IN NOT A NO FLY LIST! It lets customs know to search and question someone when they come back in to the country because they may be trying to sneak money in.

Still with the same lame personal attacks in response to everyone who disagrees with you? Go F@&% Yourself.

The reason I saw win at all costs, is because if we left a fonzanoon like you in charge of things like security, governance, writing traffic tickets, picking up dog crap we wouldn’t be able to stop a college kid with pot, leave alone a terrorist with some actual training. Five days of you running this country and the whole damn thing would come crashing down around us.

That’s a brilliant plan, scrutinize every middle-aged middle eastern male. Profiling ALWAYS works. THAT’S SURE TO STOP THE TERRORISTS! Until like in the Middle East they start using women. Then we’ll look at Middle Eastern women. So like the Christmas Bomber they will use someone African. Guess those idiot terrorists are just a little bit smarter than you since they know some of us will be dumb enough to use a racial profile and they can use that against us. You know why the Israelis are so successful at stopping terrorists? They do good police work. They observe behavior and answers to questions, not what they look like. All those guys that plan terrorist activities, they count on reactionary idiots being governed by xenophobia, like, you, who would have us looking middle eastern men up and down, while they slip a woman, an African college aged kid, an active duty military member they recruited right past us. They count on us being that stupid and shortsighted.

But, there is a way to stop all of these terrorists. All we have to do is allow the government to listen in on every phone call, interrogate everyone who travels overseas and let them read every e-mail. I’m sure you’d be ok with that. After all what’s the 4th and 5th Amendment to the Constitution when we need to keep ourselves safe. You’d be ok with that right?

They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. A little quote from Benjamin Franklin you would do well to remember. Like I said, Go F&^% Yourself.

Dough boy,

Yes Bush did get a warning about Bin Laden. So did Clinton which I see you fail to mention. You know Old Bill who bombed an aspirin factory trying to get him? At least no one in the Bush administration came out saying “we are safer” after the attacks. What about the Obama administration stone walling congress about the Ft Hood shooter? What a completely ignorant statement you make.

Of course this is the type of comment I would expect from you. Since you condone violence already I’m not surprised. Apparently you care more about “winning at all costs” than the fact that this attack was designed and carried out TO KILL CHILDREN AND FAMILIES!

And if this idiot was such an amateur then how did he almost escape? If he is such an amateur how come he went un-noticed with 13 trips back and forth to Pakistan in the last year? If he is such an amateur how was he able to pull it off without authorities knowing? If he is such an rank amateur then what does that say to the authorities that lost him for 3 hours while he tried to escape? If he is such a rank amateur then how did he make it through security at the airport?

Your attempt to make excuses for your parties failed policies is laughable at best. At worst a sign of ignorance and contempt. I’m sure when a truck bomb goes off in Chi-town you will sing a different tune.

You want to know how to stop it? That’s easy. If a middle aged middle-eastern man with a history of travel over seas comes to security at the airport he should get more scrutiny than the little old white grandma that is strip searched. All this security at airports and he still almost slipped through. I tell you what. How about making it harder to become a naturalized citizen? You know maybe enforce the immigration laws on the books?

As usual your statement bores and amuses me at the same time. Again, given your stated preference for violence this is exactly what I would expect from you. For someone who wants to “win at all costs” I’m sure you and the bomber have plenty in common.

Thank you for your comments. Please continue to make my point further by commenting more.

Well then, oh sage with no name, since this is such a teachable moment please, teach us poor unenlightened fools how to fix the system? You obviously know so much more than us. Except of course that 9-11 happened on Bush’s watch and he had an intelligence briefing warning him that Al Qaeda was determined to attack the United States on US soil, and that terrorists managed to send Anthrax to some of the most secure government installations , those were fatal attacks by the way. You also missed the sniper that terrorized the Washington D. C. Area that was dubbed a terrorist attack. Then there was the attack on the El Al ticket counter. You also missed the fact that just today Michael Hayden the former CIA director under George W. Bush said today that because we have been so successful ant battering Al Qaeda what we can expect to see are many more of these lone armatures thrown at us with only the most primitive of training, instead of the large sophisticated attacks that marked the Bush years. Oh. One other thing, not only was this man not a registered democrat, he was not registered to vote at either of the addresses he lived at in the State of Connecticut . Rush Limbaugh just made that up.

So, oh arbiter of all this conservative, how do we fix this. Tell everyone how to make this system better since you know so much more that everyone, except for all those terrorist attacks you missed under Bush. Go ahead, give us the truth according to…whoever the hell you are.
