A Simple Test For Any Legislation

I hereby submit this very simple test to evaluate all current and future legislation produced by the US Congress.

If a new law adds (or saves) any federal jobs, then the legislation needs to be voted down.

We have plenty of bureaucrats already.

No new government hires. Period.

Get out of the way and let the private sector create jobs.

Let’s see.

The author seems to propose eliminating the entire military budget, which saves the jobs of millions. He also suggests rejecting budgets that include money to repair bridges and roads, since jobs would be preserved there, also. And don’t forget airport security, which is federally funded.

If I have this wrong, perhaps the author could be a little more specific about what jobs he would not preserve. Federal marshals? The Secret Service? The FBI? Central Intelligence Agency? It might take more than 60 words, but I’m sure with a little effort and less generalization, he could find some.

You’re right. Every bill should be prescreened with 1) the criteria that it enlarges the apple pie of American productivity and investment, 2) prevents imposed redistribution of wealth, and 3) encourages private charity and benevolent funds.

Your idea is 180 degrees away from where we are now. I agree completely with you.

Here here! 2.15 million of them. The largest number of federal employees in history.
