Ron Paul

by Election Supervisor on October 12, 2009 · 31 comments

Ronald Paul was born August 20, 1935. He graduated with a biology degree from Gettysburg College in 1957 before getting his medical degree from Duke University. During the 1960 s, he worked as a U.S. Air Force flight surgeon. Eventually he settled in Texas and specialized in obstetrics.

During the 1960 s, Paul became interested in economics and when Nixon abolished the gold standard in 1971, Paul decided to become involved in politics out of a concern for U.S. fiscal policy. He became a delegate to the Texas Republican convention and a candidate for U.S. Congress. He lost to Robert Casey in 1974, but won the special election to fill Casey s seat when President Ford appointed Casey to a position in Washington in July of 1976. He lost the seat in the general election in November of 1976, but ran again, and won, in 1978.

While in Congress, Paul championed term limit legislation, Congressional pay decreases and refused to register for a House pension. During the four terms he served in the House during this time, he still continued to return home to Texas every week and deliver babies. He was a strong supporter of pro-life and pro-family issues.

Paul ran for U.S. Senate in 1984 instead of for re-election to the House and lost. He returned to medicine full-time while staying active with FREE, a think tank he established while in Congress. In 1988, he waged an unsuccessful presidential campaign as the candidate for the Libertarian Party. In 1996, Paul was re-elected to Congress.

Upon his return to Congress, Paul has been steadfast in his support of issues and legislation that adhered to the Constitution, created term limits, reduced the influence of lobbyists and required legislators to read legislation before voting on it. He also voted against the Iraq War Resolution, which authorized the war. He has been an outspoken critic of what he considered to be rampant government spending by both Democratic and Republican administrations.

In 2007, grassroots support prompted Paul to run for the 2008 Republican nomination for president. While he had strong fundraising, especially from individual supporters, his candidacy was largely ignored by the media. FOX News famously neglected to invite him to GOP candidate debate they hosted. He eventually dropped out of the race.

In November 2008, Paul won another term in Congress, running unopposed. He remains active in Congress, as well as with the advocacy group he founded, Campaign for Liberty. He is a popular speaker on issues affecting liberty and on limited government. He is involved in promoting a return to commodity-backed currency and sound monetary policies, as well as the abolishment of the Federal Reserve. He has not mentioned another run at the White House, but has only previously run in response to public pressure. He is active in supporting the campaigns of those politicians who share his ideology.

Why I’ll vote for Ron Paul: 1. For bringing the troop back home. Closing down US military bases abroad so to let those countries use their money and their people to defend their countries. We can’t do it anymore because we’re broke. Yet he’s strong on US defense. 2. Ending the useless conflict (not using the term War as we haven’t declared one of those since WWII). The book by Smedley Butler ‘War is just a racket’ come to mind as a good explanation why we have so many of them. As well as the money we print out to pay for these conflicts that we then owe back to the Fed with interest. That’s why service men support Ron Paul more than any other candidates including the current president because we know this first hand. 3. Ending the Fed. So to stop them from letting the .01% harvest the wealth of the nation via the boom and bust cycles, that the Fed was originally supposed to prevent. Will stop the dollar from devaluating into a laughing stock monopoly money. 4. He’s the only incorruptible, honest, speaks the truth, type politician we have. Nuff said. Semper Fi!

Ron Paul is just the man this country needs so desparately for a president. How ignorant have people become when they open thier mouth to state someone is “too old to be president”? Your president is not to resemble a youngster being drafted to play proffesional sports? We live in a teenie-bopper society, even 30 year olds make statements like this?
The more white hair and wrinkles equates to “more history watching mistakes” and wrong choices! Not to mention, have you have sat down and watched Ron Paul speeches, or read his books? How ignorant!!!

Ron Paul is what America needs! WE THE PEOPLE need to realize that the the government and the system is completely about profitable currency (i say currency b/c our society runs off of fiat money that is basically worthless), and sometimes doing what is right for the people isn’t the best answer in the political leaders’ eyes. Ron Paul wants to end the Federal Reserve System and revise foreign policy. The FED is basically a giagantic bank where all the American ‘fiat’ money come from, and is completely for profits. The Fed continues to print more and more of this fiat money out of thin air, which is depreciating the value of our money, or should I say ‘note from the reserve’. The policies that Ron Paul abide by are strictly from the U.S. Constitution, which is what ALL political leaders should abide by. I’m not telling you to vote for Ron Paul in any way, because i feel that is a personal decision, but I do want you to become aware of the benefits we would have if Ron Paul were to be elected in 2012. However, as of right now, I hope President Barack Obama can help our economy continue getting out of this turmoil and keep headed in a economical good direction.

Really, he is too OLD… Problem with our political system is that we have too many old members that are old fashioned. While its nice to have that mind set sometime, it is not what america needs. We need younger individuals because it is there future and ours that they are working for.

aaaaahg,

Isn’t that what Charlie Brown say’s when Lucy pulls the football away at the last second. He never seems to learn, she always does it, he never expects it. No point, just what came to mind.

As to your point. Elderly men created the foundation this great country was built on, almost all well above the average life expectancy of their day.

Ronald Reagan defeated The Soviet Union and I would argue, our greatest President of the 20th century.

I’ve said before, age and wisdom are not the common bedfellows one would expect. Rather I say, Look at the man and his history of actions. Principle and law are sent up from we the people to those who administrate for us. Age is of little consequense, outside a 1oo yard dash.

Embrace the diversity raibow my friend! (aaaaagh)

You say “It is nice to have that mindset sometimes”. I don’t have to dig past whimsicle si

You say “It is nice to have that mindset sometimes”. I don’t have to dig past whimsicle and unconcerned to reach the level of “It’s nice sometimes”.

There, FYI, I’m a smart a#@ to even those I agree with, nothing personal.

I cant say that Regan was the best; far from it. He had quite a few scandals, like the Iran-Contra affair, and it was mostly Mikhail Gorbachev who turned the Soviet Union around. Regan was at the right place at the right time. He really gets too much credit.

But I have to agree that age shouldn’t be a major issue in presidential campaigns. People can live to be 100 nowadays, and Ron Paul is in EXCELLENT shape for his age. *knock on wood*

Ron is a very refreshing candidate because he has consistency, honesty, high moral values, and actually understands whats wrong with the system. He’s one of the few people who can explain the intricacies of the Federal Reserve and monetary policy to an average person in a simple way.

People, this is your chance to fix everything. If you blow this chance, I will have lost all faith in the American people.

You really think reagan was the best president of the 20th century? Really? Not FDR who got us through the great depression and through the greatest war in human history? Not Dwight D Eisenhower who created the american capitalist economy the greatest in the world and funded the largest increase in infrastructure in the history of the United States? Reagan is so over-rated. Everyone says he limited government which is a straight up lie government employment went up 4% he increased defense spending which increased the deficit. He raised taxes 11 times in his presidency, he didn’t tear down the Berlin wall he made the speech and two years later it fell. Reagam is the most over-rated president next to Kennedy.

Ron Paul slams Ground Zero mosque protestors at ronpaul.com as racist Islamophobes, whose only reason for protesting the mosque & Imam Rauf, is a love for Middel East wars. Paul says America caused 9/11, made Islam violent & will do anything to make war on Muslims & says “non-defenders of the Constitution” have rights to build on GZ.

Consti,

What you say is true, however it is also incomplete. For instance, America having a part in 9/11. Not plotting or planning or even fore knowledge, rather our money and attempted manipulations with the arab and muslim worlds. Carter instigated the deposition of the Shaw of Iran, result Crazy Komania. Then selling arms to Iraq and Iran to let them kill each other off and creat balance in the region.
Let the world be damned to their own ideas, all we should be involved in is fair trade, not manipulation like a chess board, ect.
As to other issues, he’s a real pro-American. Pro-Christian, Pro-Jewish, Pro-Muslim, Pro-agnostic. An American is an American to him.

I like this guy. I disagree on some areas, but he is honest and Constitutional! Unlikely (impossible) candidate, but a great man and Dr. in service of the Constitution.

You are completely warping what he actually said.
He never said anything about racism.
Legally the constitution DOES give the mosque the right to be in that location. You can’t discriminate against an entire religion just because the people that committed the attack happened to be part of that religion.
He never said that America caused 9/11, he said that our meddling in the Middle East caused unexpected retaliation (AKA blowback).
As for making Islam violent, it is true, and proven by the CIA, that US aggression toward the Middle East has radicalized and rallied Islamic extremists against not only the US, but also the West in general.

If you’re an avid Sean Hannity or Bill O’Reilly listener, then you probably believe that Islam naturally hates the west.

The first Islamic terrorist attack happened in the 1970′s. Radical Islam has been around for centuries (albeit in small quantities). If it were truly the Muslim doctrine to attack the West, why didn’t they attack us from 1776 – 1969?
The reason were being attacked and hated is because we’ve been involved in other countries since WWII.

Read Ron Paul’s book The Revolution: A Manifesto
It’s a real eye opener, and rather than spewing bullshit opinions like FOX, it actually informs you

This looks better. Did you change some things? I can’t remember what was written before, but it doesn’t sound as negative. I’m glad you mention that he was largely ignored by the media, particularly FOX, as Paul was running as a Republican for the GOP nomination in 2008, yet was IGNORED BY FOX (supposedly a pro-Republican, pro-conservative talk show). Yeah…right. They are pro-New World Order!

Nice how you had to change up the poll winner to make Paul’s picture real small and say that “Obama was the leader at first” to encourage folks to vote for him” and that “Mitt Romney is coming in second” to encourage folks to vote for him. Isn’t it enough people are brainwashed by our government-run media and dumbed down by our schools that they can’t just log onto an “objective” poll and see who is winning and decide for themselves, after doing their research, who to vote for? Noooooo, gotta guide them to it, don’t you? Terrible… Be honest about this man’s legacy and truthfulness and be honest about his awesomeness – he trumps all other candidates in ALL areas. He is NOT fake nor failure. He planted the seed of liberty; ergo Rand Paul, his son won Kentucky, all the other states are throwing incumbents out and voting in liberty candidates, and liberty candidates are sprouting up everywhere not afraid to speak for “We The People” against the machine out of Washington. Heh.

Isn’t it just simply wonderful how these despicable state-run websites glamorize the long-legged, Mack Daddy, quasi-Muslim, Sociliast, communist, Marxist FREAK and the NEOCONS on the frighteningly far right without mention of their vices? Yet, they are so quick to talk about our saving grace, Ron Paul, in terms of his “failure to succeed” against this political machine in Washington and behind the scenes – as the driving force that oppresses him and his voice, which needs to be heard. The sole fact that media from both sides avoid and discount him speaks VOLUMES about the society we live in. This should make it even more evident that Paul is the prime candidate – if he does not stand a chance, it shows that for the past century, media and propaganda people’s minds. We need to start talking amongst ourselves and doing our own research and stop glamorizing after the dag-on stars called “politicians!” Ron Paul is my father, my brother, my neighbor, my friend …He is me and he is you, and he is what this country desparately needs!
