Mitt Romney
Mitt Romney was born on March 14th, 1947, the son of former Michigan governor George Romney. His father was a candidate for the presidency in 1968, while his mother, Lenore Romney, ran for the US Senate in 1970. After taking some time off during college to perform missionary work for the Mormon Church, Romney graduated from Brigham Young University in 1971 as class valedictorian. He went to Harvard where, in 1975, he graduated from both the Law School and Business School with a Law degree and an MBA.
After graduation, Mitt Romney remained in Boston and worked in investments before joining management consulting firm Bain and Company. In 1984, he left to found investment spin-off Bain Capital. After Bain and Company experienced financial difficulty, Romney returned as CEO to Bain and Company in 1990, saved it, and turned it around. He ran for the Senate in 1994 against powerful incumbent Ted Kennedy and lost, but made a stronger than expected showing.
In 1998, Romney took over as head of the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Games Organizing Committee, inheriting a $379 million shortfall and an organization racked by scandal. By the time the games were over, the shortfall had turned into a $100 million profit and the games were hailed a success. Flush from his accomplishment, Romney ran for governor of Massachusetts and won. Again, Romney found himself entering his new job with a shortfall- $1.2 million. By enacting spending cuts, raising fees, and closing corporate tax loopholes, by the end of his term in 2006 the state was operating with a $700 million surplus. Some of the cuts were very controversial: cuts to city and town aid and reductions in contributions to stat- run colleges, which caused the schools to raise tuitions by 63% to make up for the loss. He enacted private, market-based health reform in Massachusetts, mandating all residents to have health insurance. Even though Romney was economically successful during his governorship, he did not have strong support in the polls in his state by the end of his term. He declined to run for a second term, instead turning his attention to the national stage.
In 2007, Mitt Romney announced his run for the Republican nomination for president. His platform was conservative; pro-life, in favor of legal immigration and tax relief for middle income Americans. He supported expanded military spending and an increase in troops overseas. He differed from his party in that he has been a strong proponent for gun control. After showing well in some of the early primaries, Romney dropped out of the race after Super Tuesday. He made way for John McCain to take the nomination and gave his active support to McCain s bid.
Romney is commonly listed, along with Mike Huckabee and Sarah Palin, as a current front runner for the 2012 Republican presidential nominee. He has encouraged this talk through his holding on to his staff and network of supporters and by keeping his PAC money to pay current staff . He continues to be active through his PAC, Free and Strong America, which supports like-minded Republican candidates, and through speeches and op-ed pieces.

Running a business substantially differs from running the country. Being a successful businessman doesn’t automatically make you a great and skilled president.
Between Gingrich and Romney, I’d choose Newt.
Mitt Romney is a low-life who has been a failed politician for almost two decades! As a businessman, his primary purpose was to takeover struggling companies and liquidate them for profit – putting countless Americans out of work. It was all about the dollar for him with no concern for lives he was destroying… and you want this clown to be your president?
When a true and legitimate candidate for our nation’s highest office has my attention, I expect him/her to tell me about what he/she plans to do if elected. You can tell the pretenders because when they get your attention, they generally talk about the current president or the other candidates running against them.
Here’s how you can tell if you’re an idiot… If you don’t believe George W. Bush was the worst president in American history, then you are an idiot. If you think Sara Palin was a wise selection my McCain as a running mate, then you are an idiot. If you think Mitt Romey has a chance in hell of winning in 2012, then you are an idiot.
Ron Paul is clearly the best republican choice for the white house and but you guys would rather go with Romney… President Obama will enjoy a second term. Hopefully the republicans will loose the house and senate and we can get some things done!!!

I really think we need to get bush back in office obama is just spending way to much money on other countrys that just want to start a war
Our country talks of Freedom of speech, freedom from oppression, freedom to worship whatever religion, yet everyone is judging Mitt Romney solely based on his religious convictions. You need to judge him base on his parties policies, will it benefit us as nation, will it create a stable economy, generate much needed jobs, our war on terror, better health care system & if you do that, then it’s a vote worth submitting that is not tainted by a bias view. But to rule him out base on his religion and having to vote for the other guy simply because he’s not a Mormon, says very little of your conviction to the American way of life and our future. Whether we like Mormons or not, the presidential race is about finding the best person to run our nation and represent our country as the next American President.
Judge him as a politician and his policies. You only have to look at the controversy regarding Cain and Perry gaffe to realize I cannot put my trust in either candidate to represent my vote in the upcoming election. So you have to look at the remaining and way out the cons and pros. Either way, I strongly feel Romney’s religious beliefs shouldn’t come into play. The presidential election isn’t about colour, race, religion or personal beliefs, it’s about finding a president with policies and convictions that will help our nation move forward into the future.
Now when
Aren’t we forgeting that bush been in the office for 8 years and mess us up now its time for obama to clean up his mess and put American on the right track, then we can descide who will be the next president for America, right after obama make his change to America……
What did Obama change? Nothing… Look how many times he promised Americans on certain issues. For example he promised that he would withdrawl Americans out of the Iraq war… Yeah, Obama stole my change.. We need someone that can run this country well!
Mitt Romney has a proven track record and class. I pray he wins! This country needs some hope again.
go mitt!
I plan on voting for this man in 2012.
Utah has a lot of Mormon’s and it doing the economically well then any other state in the country. A man should not be judge by his religion, in America we have the right to practice whatever religion we want, that is what makes America unique among any other country.
Good Luck Mitt Romney
We don’t need a Mormon in the white house
Yes we do need a mormon in the White House.
He’s not a Mormon! He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints!! get it right people… plus it doesn’t matter what religion the presidential candidate is, America has already proved that when they put a Muslum in the White House. GO MITT ROMNEY, you can do it!!
You talk as a mormon. Who believe that black color people are cursed!!!! GO OBAMA. YOU WILL DO IT!!
I TOTALLY AGREE with you, Louise!!! I was SO SAD to see people NOT supporting Mitt!!! He would DEFINATELY make an AMAZING President! He has INTEGRITY, INTELLIGENCE, and HONESTY!! He has already PROVEN himself in the past as being a Leader who KNOWS how to handle difficult situations in a LOGICAL, INTELLIGENT manner!! This is a heck of A LOT MORE than I can say for our current President!!! I TRULY HOPE the American People will give Mitt Romney a chance in the next election!! This GREAT Country would be better off for it!!!
Mitt Romney should have been the Republican nominee for 2008… I feel our nation would be in a very different place at the moment had that been the case. Please let us not let another opportunity slip by us to elect a profoundly qualified, savvy, deserving professional businessman to our highest office.
Ready to throw 120% support behind this candidate…
