Still In America

by dfunzy October 31, 2009

It is Halloween night. Tomorrow is All Saints Day and the beginning of the Thanksgiving month, a time when we count our blessings. Here is another piece of satire that I did ten years ago. The issue is the availability of guns. In a way, this is a Halloween story. ONLY IN AMERICA (c) Copyrighted [...]

I’m not ok with this.

by Consti Tution October 29, 2009
I am for your right to stand on your patio in your boxers covered in thousand island dressing while eating a double greasy with cheese, drinking a beer, smoking a cigar while reciting god bless America in front of a flag at the top of your lungs.

Recently it was commented that it was ok for a politician to “call out” the American public as to their responsibilities. This was in relation to the town hall protests this past summer. So let me get this straight. It is OK for the people WE elect to refer to US as ‘stupid‘, ‘racist’, ‘terrorist‘ [...]

Join My Survivalist Registry

by 3rd Party Blogger October 28, 2009

A friend of mine recently received a call from his mother. She asked him for money. No, her home wasn’t in foreclosure. No, she didn’t need the money because of a lost job or because unemployment checks were about to end. This woman isn’t even being forced out of a comfortable retirement to take a humiliating low wage job. My friend’s mother wanted the money to stock up on survival supplies because she thought Obama was going to destroy the country by this January.

On the verge of realignment

by Jerry Berggren October 28, 2009

There is a major political realignment underway in this country.  Thanks for this political shift are due to our elected leaders’ actions going all the way back to March 2008 when Bear Stearns was sold to Morgan Stanley for pennies on the dollar. The fiscally irresponsible actions of Republicans and democrats has been under a [...]

The World Remains Flat

by dfunzy October 27, 2009

As I worked on my second post for this site, I remembered a piece of satire that I wrote ten years ago. I looked up the piece, re-read it, and though it is ten years old, its subject is relevant to current events. So? I am re-posting it here. THE EARTH IS FLAT, (c) Copyrighted [...]

For the greater good

by Consti Tution October 27, 2009

I have heard this term echo often in the blog-o-sphere. For the greater good. My question is WHOs greater good? When one side of the political spectrum determines the greater good, how is that ‘good’ for the people? Let s take a case study. In England they have implemented the world s most invasive monitoring [...]

Not Black Does Not Equal White

by Laura Bramble October 27, 2009

Polarization is certainly on the upswing these days. The trend seems to be that anyone who does not agree with you automatically believes in and stands for the polar opposite. For example, if you do not agree with conservative views in their entirety, then you are automatically a radical liberal socialist by default. Or, if [...]

Orthodoxy of Artifice

by silverwun October 27, 2009

From “Inherit the Wind” ‘Gentlemen, progress has never been a bargain. You’ve got to pay for it. Sometimes I think there’s a man behind a counter who says ‘All right, you can have a telephone; but you’ll have to give up privacy and the charm of distance. Madam, you may vote; but at price; you [...]

Consti here roaming through the underground bunker library where I stumbled on my old copy of Huckleberry Finn and a Connecticut Yankee. After tearing through the books I wondered what one of the greatest writers of American history had to say about politicians. WWMTD? Now my library is as extensive as the internet is big, [...]

Two Dangerous Ideological Enemies of Freedom. One Left & One Right

by silverwun October 26, 2009

Democratic process for selecting representatives forces candidates to claim ‘Best interests of the poeple’ as their motivation for seeking delegated power. They do their best to convince voters of this noble dedication or lose. Since the activity of seeking power is in itself egocentric, displaying a wish for a job that carries authority over others, [...]

Why the Rush?

by Benjammin October 26, 2009

With the number of people who are opposed to the single most expensive entitlement program in the history of this county, one has to wonder why the rush to get the legislation passed. In my experience, if someone is trying to rush you through something, not allowing you to study the contents, it often is a good idea to just slow down, look around, and try to figure out what is, exactly, that they don’t want to you see.

“To talk of many things: Of shoes–and ships–and sealing-wax–Of cabbages–and kings’

by Consti Tution October 26, 2009

I know the kind of comments I will get by posting this, but I ve never been one to back down. I m fed up with the games and the fact that a privileged few tell the rest of us how to behave. This administration is a hot mess, and I am not afraid to [...]
